Will this clock stand up by itself? Thanks

It will with a connecting piece of plastic that props it up. Mine is prone to falling over when knocked though.

Is it battery operated?

No batteries, no electric parts. A few gears inside so moving the minute hand moves the hour hand correctly. For little kids to learn the clock.

Could this be suitable for someone with Alzheimer's to show them what time their visitor is coming and they can compare to a working clock?

I guess so. But you could also write the visitors name & time on a white board or draw a clock

Hi, is it possible to move the minute hand backwards as well as forwards?

You are able to move both hands forwards and backwards on this learning clock
