My grandmother was getting to the state where she was finding it hard to hear the TV and read subtitles. These headphones fit perfectly over the head and allowed her to listen clearly to the TV. The cable is really long on these so you can sit a fair distance away in comfort. It also has a volume control wheel at the headphone end. These cover the ears so reduce external noise but are not noise cancelling. Just good old fashioned over ear headphones. Good quality like you would expect from Philips. I would buy these again!

I've bought this model of headphone several times now. I do like the sound they give (although notably different from the Sennheiser HD206's that are my backup pair) and they are the most comfortable pair I own that I can wear happily for long periods of time. However, they always fail in the same ways. Either one of the earpieces will snap off where the plastic tapers to connect the cup to the strap (which is pretty much unfixable) or part of the adjustable band will break off and now it's always loose and will fall off. On this set, the latter happened after 14 months. Fortunately, I found the bit of plastic that broke off and managed to glue it back together (not in itself a fix, it will break off again at the first opportunity if that's all you do) so I could get it sitting back inside the groove. Once I had that side adjusted again to how I like, I cable tied it with several tight ties and filled the adjustment channel with adhesive so it cannot possibly move. This has held for about a month so far. It's ugly and I have cable ties sticking out of my head now, but it has bought me some more time until the other side fails too. 3 months later and the same has happened to the other ear. That makes the life of the product a little over 18 months for me.

These headphones are amazing. The only downside is the very long cable. I'm on my third pair, due to stepping on the cable and ripping it out of the headphones themselves. However my latest pair, which I purchased back in 2010 are still going. I knew I'd had them a while but I didn't realise it was 6 years, THAT'S how great these headphones are. The sound could be louder BUT it has great bass and for it's price I really can't ask for anything more. They are great value for money and these headphones have managed to survive 6 years heavy usage and 5 house moves and are STILL going. And yes, I am writing this review 6 years later, so it is nearly time to replace my current pair, as I noticed the cable has split. But six years an amazing length of any headphones of mine to last, for the extent I use them in.

Great headphones at reasonable price

No stars if I was allowed . Terrible headphones. Do not buy. Mine arrived today. Great delivery service. Headphones in perfect condition. Then I plugged them into both my hi fi then tv. I thought I was going deaf as the sound is so quiet Clearly deliberate in design. But if you are wanting decent headphone quality this is not the product for use. Worse than terrible Big mistake by me to buy them

I use it for listening to the tv. I have 2. Snugs nicely on my ears. Has a little volume up/down setting and a very nice long cable.

Solid sound quality, comfortable fit. The cord isn't too short or too long. I used it for at least a year in the gym before dropping and breaking them. The break was my fault, not the manufacturers. Overall solid construction and a solid product.

I bought these last minute (after standing on my old one's & turning them into a 3 piece set!) for playthrough while recording music & just needed something cheap & delivered fast (Well, 6 stars on both counts there!!) and with a cord long enough to move around my studio room unhindered. They're really comfortable on my head. They were quite tight out of the box but quickly relaxed and lost the slight over-squeeze & after less than a week I can wear them for hours without a drama, sound is good not great, but completely fine at normal volumes. They're crisp and clear at low to mid volume. They do distort pretty badly if really pumping bass heavy rock music, but for $28 I never expected Sennheiser sound! And they go plenty loud enough to drown out the world when listening to music or plugged into the TV. One thing I've noticed is they do change tone quite dramatically from loud to quiet, so using on a device with changeable EQ settings is necessary if you're wanting to have consistent sound at different volumes (just Bass/Treble control is plenty for general listening). Overall I'm really stoked with the value for money, as these are every bit as good as my old $400 Sennheiser set at lower volumes, which these are replacing due to the Sennheiser's lacking durability under-foot!! :( but if you really like to rattle the brain with volume, probably go for something a little higher end. Would highly recommend without hesitation if you're looking for something for general listening on a budget...
