How long are they safe to keep?

I can't see any "use by or sell by date" on packaging. I purchased this item in August 2016. The "gell" like colouring still looks as fine, and would be happy to use the small amount required to do the job.

Can those gels be used for colouring eggs?

Hi, although I have never coloured eggs my-self, I can say I have successfully used these gels in colouring iceing and in making rainbow cakes, The gel is concentrated and therefore strong in colour. It is he best food colouring I have used. Sorry I can't give you a direct answer.

Can they be used to colour buttercream? (Butter and icing sugar) and turn out colour as shown on box ?

Yes. I use mine not only to colour my cake mixture/ fondant. I use it for buttercream too! :)
