Yarn Swift, Stable Umbrella Holder for Skeins, Flexible Lightweight Design

Genuinely impressed with this yarn swift, for the current price of £21.99. A reasonable price to pay in order to save a lot of bother.I always found winding skeins/hanks of yarn into balls, with no assistance (mechanical or human) to be a nuisance of tangles and frustration, gritted teeth and much swearing.But have now winded skeins/hanks of yarn into neat balls using this new yarn swift I've bought. It's easy and lovely to use and saves such a lot of time and frustration. Makes it a relaxing, pleasing experience.It's easy and intuitive to set up and use.May be of practical use to readers: the product description says: "The table clamp or clip is 1.75" (use it on a table thinner than 1.75"/4.5cm)" - but by being careful with the screw/clamp bit, it does sit firmly on my table that is full 5cm thickness.It folds up neatly again - it works just like an umbrella - and I had no trouble fitting it back into its compact storage box.Glad I bought it.

Love this, I had a wooden one but trying to get the yarn skein organised to stay put whilst opening it was so difficult but this with its umbrella action is so easy!It was very reasonably priced and works so well, it turns smoothly whilst winding yarn and even has its own case which is good as it keeps it dust free and safe from breakage! Highly recommend this both for price and smooth action! Glad I changed, expensive is not always the way forward as this was incredibly low priced for such efficiency!

Great value for this price. Unfortunately the metal loops don't hold the rings well in place. So after each time it is folded out again the rings need to be put in place. The blue plastic tubes aren't sturdy so it doesn't cut into the yarns, but also doesn't keep the tension while winding. The skein will go down the umbrella, but doesn't fall off. While winding the umbrella gives some resistence, so it pulls on the yarn which makes the final cake tighter. Which is great, but with very fragile yarns need to be paid attention to.But all in all this is a great item and I'm very glad of owning it. Large skeins (Atelier Zitron Yak) fits on this. The clamp is great for a variability of table sizes and really sturdy. Even though the metal loops might catch the wool, they don't break them. Makes great tight cakes. Has a fabulous plastic cover to store the umbrella yarn holder and keep it dust free. Doesn't take much space which is great. And the umbrella is easily adjusted in height/width.

Simple to set up and use. Absolutely delighted and totally worth the money. Was sceptical to start with as originally wanted a wooden one but this works perfectly, isn't extortionate in price like the wooden ones and comes in a plastic tube for storage. Used it 3 times the first day I received it and so simple. Hands down beats trying to unwind a skein on the back of a chair. Spending £20 will save you hours of having to untangle yarn. Believe me.

I don't know why my absolute top favourite yarns always come in skeins, and it has been the bane of my life getting them into a ball. I've given up on twisting the yarn around a thick crochet hook or knitting needle because that just makes the yarn windier. I have spent days and days trying to unravel the huge birds nests that they make. I decided to wind onto flat cardboard rather, and reduce the windiness. I read the reviews on this winder and they were all pretty good. I struggled to get it fixed to my table but eventually managed. I put the yarn on wrong at first but it was still working, but I thought, this can't be right that I have to sit with my arms up, so I watched a few videos and found that you have to put the yarn around the sides. The instructions do NOT show it well - they are drawings that are very unclear. Anyway now I have it right and it's spinning away amazingly well. No more using my knees or an upended stool! Very happy.

This is a very handy thing to own if you buy yarn in skeins rather than balls. It’s a little flimsy feeling, but certainly works well enough for me - it took only minutes, using this in conjunction with the yarn winder (which you can buy separately), to wind several skeins into usable balls of yarn. Needs a bit of help in guiding the yarn from the Swift to the winder, but very easy. It fits nicely on the edge of my table and has made my life so much easier! For the price it’s good value

I actually enjoy making yarn cakes now, thanks to this! Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to store...I love it!

Am Anfang war ich etwas skeptisch. Hatte noch nie eine Spindel. Bin begeistert. Musste am Anfang ein bisschen üben um die Spannung für den Wollstrang einzustellen, geht aber jetzt ganz fix. Bei der Qualität gibt es nur 4 Sterne, weil sich der Wollstrang beim bespannen schon mal in den Metallringen verfängt. Aber für den Preis super
