Cute, strong and mute little engine
This engine is quite different from the Mighty Red or Green from Brio, and I think it's good this way. It only use one AA battery (2 AAA for the Mighty one), but can pull two wagons and climb without problem. You can also put it in the centre of the the convoy to help other engines to pull. It is that versatile. It has lights but no sound...which my son misses. It is also gorgeous and the switch forward and reverse though discreet it is easy to operate. Overall, it is a good engine and an excellent complement to the mighty's. And in a world full of cheap and low quality toys, this Brio is awesome, it seams well done and sturdy. So the price seems adequate.

Top toy. Going strongly after four years.
This engine is awesome. It is not as strong or as fast as the other big engines but it is the only one that has connectors both in front and the back and can be in the middle of longer trains. See video and image. We purchased it in 2017 when my son was two years old and it survived dropping from height, stomping on it and other toddler tortures and it still goes strongly without any issues to offer joy now that he appreciates it as an engine. As with every such a toy, rechargeable batteries with a charger are a must, as the battery goes quickly. Nowadays, it does not even need an adult to change the battery. It also needs an occasional effort to remove the hair wrapped on the wheel axis from carpets etc. My only complaint is the lack of a stop timer, though the humming it was a good way to locate the engine when stuck under furniture. I wish brio was making other models that have both front and back connectors

Nice addition to our wooden train setup.
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my 3 year old son. The Brio range is quite expensive so we normally go for a cheaper brand when it comes to wooden railway accessories. In this case however, I'd definitely recommend paying more for a quality product. This little train looks good and runs well. The unit can pull 2-3 carriages up a slope on the track and doesn't struggle at all. It can run forwards and backwards and has a little white light at the front. The first batteries I used lasted about 6-7 weeks with reasonable use which I'm more than happy with. It's our first motorised engine for our wooden train set and I'd definitely buy this again in different styles. Pros: - looks good - easily pulls a couple of carriages - decent battery life - good quality feel Cons: - quite expensive for one engine

Very impressed.
Four year old and two year old grandsons have had many hours of fun and we are still on the original battery. Has some problems with tight bends if track is uneven though will then set off "cross country" on the carpet. There is a limit to how long a train it will pull up the viaduct without assistance but none of this has detracted from the enjoyment the boys have had. A really good addition to a wooden track railway.

Great little train
This worked so perfectly. It runs well on brio and โbrio copyโ tracks. We have a mixture of both genuine and fake track from from gifts and donations so we were worried that it might only work with the โofficialโ brio track. It is a really powerful little train and pulls lots of carriages!!! Even over bridges and points !

Well built
Good quality Brio train. Better made than the babies first train that this replaces for me. Good forwards and backwards, great design, does move a little slower than other brio trains.

Robust toy
Nice little diesel engine. Battery lasts for ages and the train itself is a strong one. It could pull several carriages up over the bridge section. It also stays on the track when going through junctions. I recommend.

Brilliant train... just one thing wrong (update on 07/20)
Lovely train from the infamous Brio! Little lad loves it, the only gripe I've got with this train is: it cannot be pushed free hand, it doesn't roll or have an option to put it in free roll mode unlike other trains. Never the less it pulls over 6 of our carriages which is impressive. 4/5 stars due to the fact you can't push it, it has it be turned on (forward or backwards) EDIT: Nearly 3 years later, the rubber which is located on the drive wheels has worn down the train can no longer climb the bridges without assistance, it takes him a little go but can manage to clamber up on a solo travel, just so people are aware, we've used "Stong Train" a fair bit, seems like buying a set of unofficial rubber tracks is the only solution since Brio don't have a spares department

Excellent product
It works perfectly well, can go ahead or back at a reasonably fast speed. One battery (AA) lasts long enough. It is far better than the other black brio locomotive with a rechargeable battery that you have to plug. It has one magnet at the front and at the back which is the reason why i got it. I think it is probably the only locomotive for these wooden trains that has this feature. Therefore you can use two locomotives for really long trains and if you place them one at the front one if the middle of the train, your train will rarely stay stuck while climbing a hill or something. This is what I do. Only trouble is that you have to unscrew two screws to replace the battery but that is really a detail.

Alto valor costo beneficio
Buena potencia para jalar 3 vagones y es muy bonito, el consumo de pilas es alto porque le gusta mucho amo hijo, por lo que recomiendo usar recargables
