Hi, what is the minimum floor area required to use this home gym?

4 x 6 foot then allow a foot either side for adding and subtracting weights etc. The gym is fantasia. ..hard to find a multi gym with a bench included

What weight plates do you recommend

Thank you for your enquiry. We recommend Olympic Weights (2") diameter. We will 145kg sets in our Amazon store which we can ship at the same time as the Smith Machine. Please use this link to view. http://www.amazon.co.uk/PureFitness-Sports-145kg-Olympic-Weight/dp/B00DN5ZKGS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393658915&sr=8-1&keywords=145kg+purefitnessThe set comes with a 7ft bar which you can use for free weight bench pressing and deadlifts. Please let us know if you need further details.PureFitness & Sports

Are we able to perform leg press with back.on the floor?

You can yes, probably not advised by Marcy but I do them yes. Once you’ve found the knack of twisting bar back into lock position with your feet your good. 👍

What is the differnece between this and the Marcy SM4000?

Looking at the pictures, the SM4000 has a slightly simplified structure. 1 pulley instead in the middle at the top rather than 1 either side. Having 2 allows cable cross exercises, also can have 2 attachments on at once i guess.
