How is this different from using an iron?

Great question -- because it's VERY different than using an iron. First, it's smaller/more compact than a household iron so you'll have a lot more flexibility to get in between buttons and seams, etc. It's lighter and much more nimble than an iron and you'll experience more control. Also, irons are designed to work with steam, which might be great to help you remove wrinkles from certain types of fabrics, but steam is the kiss of death for successful heat-transfer projects. Also, irons produce uneven heat so you'll have hot spots. The Cricut EasyPress products are designed with a heating element that results in perfect, edge-to-edge heat – an ideal circumstance to render ideal heat-transfer results. It's really an amazing little thing. You will love it!

What are the temperatures of the different Cricut EasyPress Mini Settings? 
Cricut EasyPress Mini is unique and works differently than our flagship Cricut EasyPress family or even a traditional heat press. Because you’ll typically be using lighter pressure and constant motion with this product, the Cricut EasyPress Mini heat plate includes an extra coating of protection that lets it easily glide over your material's surface. This type of movement allows each of the 3 heat settings to accommodate multiple heat-transfer ranges. Here’s the general use guide:

Low – Use with sensitive base materials or heat-transfer materials that transfer between 255°F (125°C) – 295°F (145°C)

Medium – Use with most base materials or heat-transfer materials that transfer between 300°F (150°C) – 355°F (180°C)

High – Use with Infusible Ink materials, heavy-duty base materials, and other heat-transfer materials that transfer between 360°F (185°C) – 400°F (205°C)

Can you use this to put HTV on wood?

Will this work for larger projects or just tiny ones?

Accepted Answer

The Easy Press Mini will work for larger projects, but it would not be as efficient as a larger heat press or iron.  You also need to be careful the materials don’t lose their position on the material as you work to secure the HTV.  Depending how large your project is, the Easy Press Mini will shut itself off when it reaches its max.
