Review: Awesome LitRPG Adventure!!! - Chock full of action and really uplifting, I loved everything about Second Chance Swordsman. Sam is an awesome character, as are Klara and Toby. The system elements were really clever and I was rooting for each character as they faced challenges hoping they'd size the opportunity to advance. Really gripping pace which had me read/listen to it all in a matter of days (which was quick for me). The narrator is excellent too, a perfect compliment to the storytelling. If you love uplifting adventure and clever progression in litRPG you should check out this book along with other series by this wonderfully talented author. Review: Nice story. - It was a nice light read but I do notice some problems that could have been sorted. You should read it though.

An amazing book!!
Being a fan of other series where the MC goes back in time, I started this book eagerly. I have to say it did not let me down! There is just the right balance of stats listed. There is a lot of action. Semi-overpowered MC and a fantastic storyline. I definitely recommend reading this book. An excellent start to a new series and I can’t wait for the next one.

4+ stars.
I’m sat on the fence with this being a fantastic start and a disappointing level of depth. Well written, great story line, a few inconsistencies but nothing too bad. But balancing that it felt almost like a film on a budget with a lack of characters and then they didn’t want any of the main characters to die off. All said I’m looking forward to the second but wish it had a bit more. For instance this novel felt like it should have been three times longer and split into three. Still given 5 as it’s very enjoyable and as said well written.

must read for LotRPG Fans
Jacob Tanner is one of my favourite authors, loved his Tower Climber series and absolutely love this series too. Can’t wait for book 2. If you’re a fan of LITRPG or just we’ll written fantasy. Give this a go. 👍🏻

Great start for a new adventure.
A wonderful beginning on a typical theme. Jacob has given Sam a great start, with him nearly dieing in a battle against demons. That is until a goddess sends him back in time. The MC isn't over strong nor does he destroy everything on the first go. The story telling is slick and kept me glued to the pages. Well worth reading for the doom and pessimist antics of a secondary character, Toby. I can't wait for the next book.

A pretty meh regressor series
This is pretty quick paced at the start, then really drags out the ending with multiple swapping POV. Kinda wish the author had just focused on the MC, rather than saddle him with side characters to babysit. The MC is also too goodie goodie and all 'must save everyone' to the point where it's annoying. The System is fairly light, with no levels and needing to work out to raise stats to a level where you then go up a tier, which sounds overly complicated with the many gradings for things, rather than sticking with numbers or letters. Whilst this did finish up the story arc it started, including killing off the enemies it had, there isn't much detail. The setting is simple and basic, without really going into description, and the side characters - especially the two best friends - feel like they're slowing down the power progression.

Absolutely awesome
I totally think he should get with the queen, just sayin. Also am I the only one who was rather reminded of marvels penance armor when the silver dragon armor was introduced

Got heart, no brain
Everything keeps changing or feel like it, the system is quite solid so far but even the system itself if I m not mistaking went from 11 is what ordinary people athletes, fighters can reach at most, and I m pretty sure it went to 16 after that. Apart from that, there is a few of this : -maybe these two organisations are in an alliance / okay now it s proven true / hmm this person is the one who betrayed organisation A to join organisation B in my previous life, so yes now I have a precise knowledge of the past about something I previously told I had no idea about. -wow it s my first time ever seeing this person / OK now that I am done seeing this person for the first time let s use my memories of my previous life of something very specific where this person was. Really it feels like the author took pleasure in writing but maybe not that much in re-reading and was taking things that happened in the second life only, for granted and used them as a base to the next plot point. Even the feelings of a character seems to change and because of all this incertainty I can t say if it s a "look how my character evolved during the book and maybe it didn't even change that much and it s just a path my character could take" or the author just changing his mind on what he was going for at first. The system growth feels irregular from time to time. But overall it s one of the thing that works. The other thing that worked well for me were the characters even if some of those that are not named are... "really? Well I guess we don't care about this one". Maybe it s a bit on the exaggerated side yes, Mc has a friend who is scared of everything, and we may even encounter some ungrateful person who feels really immature and annoying. And yet the relationships are quite light because of this, light in a "it s not dark and heavy stuff" sense ,characters have time for bonding and maybe you will even smile at the stupidity of the cast if this "naive" atmosphere is okay with you. So yeah for me it was frustrating because of the inconsistencies, but it was also enjoyable the system was a bit more well built than the story and I enjoyed the light side of the character interactions.

Terribly unoriginal
Replacing the name "halloween" with "hallow's haunting" and "christmas" with "hearthmas" while keeping all the same aspects of the holidays are far from the least original thing in this book. Characters are always either grinning, smirking or crying

Great story
This doesn’t require a long review. It’s a great story. If you enjoy science fiction, magic or heroes, then you’ll love this book. Note to author: You are the master of the exact length fight scenes. Not so long as to become boring, not so short that descriptions are neglected. Perfect.

It's a fun YA
Excellent premise, characters are lovely tropes of the genre. System is good, could have used more loot mechanics Very much looking forward to the next book.
