Good product. Works well.
Easy to use and scharpens very well. A bit on the expensive side but worth the money.

100% satisfied
Wasn't sure about it before I bought, but this is a perfect sharpener for those who aren't good with traditional sharpeners. About 5 minutes per knife, and I had a better cutting edge than when I was paying someone to sharpen my knives for me.

Perfect for me and most likely you, too. Here's why.
I am sure, that in a perfect world, where I had all the time I wanted, I would have a set of whetstones of varying grits ready to go to sharpen my knives. Perhaps my man servant would be fetching them and soaking them for me at my directive? They would make sure that my dedicated sharpening set up was ready for me so that I could meticulously move from larger grit blocks to smaller ones and using the stroking and passing techniques I had mastered over hundreds of hours, to achieve the perfect edge and knife nirvana. So in my reality, I am an enthusiastic home chef who cooks multiple times every day for my family and then occasionally notices, why the $%^^% is dicing this onion so hard today? I have a Wusthof Classic 8" Chef's, 4" Paring and large Butcher Knife. I also have a Hedley Bennett 8" Chef's. I use the 20 degree side as its the closest to their manufacturing angle specs. I was not sure that the HORL3 Cruise would work out. Would the main grit be too rough/fast? Would it take too long? Would this system $%^^%-Up my knives? I am pleased to say, that this dead easy system is a minor miracle for mere mortals who simply want to get on with their meal prep and by extension, the rest of their lives. The grit is just fine. You feel/hear it when using the rough grit disc and at first it may alarm you as being too aggressive. For my knives it takes like 12-18 rolls on each side with the rough and then 20 or so on the honing disc to finish it up and achieve a fantastic sharp edge. To my eye, the edge looks really good after. Is it perfect? Well the knives slice easily through grapes and tomatoes, and of course those freakin onions effortlessly. And my knives aren't $%^^%-Up I highly recommend this system. At least try it for yourself. Get the crappiest knife you have. Heck, borrow your friends or neighbors crappiest knives and do all of them. You'll see. One of the best purchases I've made for myself in 2025. The product quality is excellent. The magnets are strong and the manufacturing is well done. For the Butcher knife, I put the roller on a wood cutting board so the HORL would work with the larger blade. For the tiny 4" paring knife, I didn't need to do anything special in the set up. I love the product.

Excellent system for most people
I am a knife sharpening junkie. The good: This is the easiest to use, most precise way to achieve a constant sharpening angle, which any sharpenine junkie will tell you is 95% of the battle. I am really impressed with the ease of use and would recommend this system to anybody who doesn't want to make a career, or at least a sincere hobby, of sharpening. I sharpened several kitchen knives and they are indeed very sharp but more importantly, the process is just about foolproof. The other: I was hoping it would come with a few disks of different abrasive grits. One of the best sharpening systems I've used is the Wasabi system. It is a pain in the butt to set up, and it is more difficult to use, (but NOT super difficult), and it takes a little more skill to maintain a super consistent sharpening angle. But it comes with diamond stones up to 3000 grit, and after stropping, my knives consistently come out "sharp enough to shave". I sharpened 4 knives today with my new HORL-3 - using the same process for each - remove the black marker, smooth with the stainless disk, ,strop on leather - 2 sides, 1 charged with white, one with green. One knife came out sharp enough to shave - the other 3, not quite. Again, I think this is an outstanding system because it is so easy to sharpen at a consistent angle. Highly recommended to people who aren't as obsessed as me. If you simply included interchangeable discs and included a finer grit disk, I would give it five stars, but today I'm only giving it four.

The Real Deal!
I bought this for my father for Father's Day and he loves it. He likes to sharpen his knives pretty often on this rectangular stone so he has to angle the knife manually which can make a big difference on how well the knife is sharpened or not. However, he has a thing for Chinese made products. He does not like buying them if he help it. So when I saw that this was made in Germany, I jumped on it and bought it. It was pretty pricey but the reviews said this was a high quality product and I noticed that anything made in Germany usually is so I didn't hesitate. He was so happy with it and said now he can sharpen knives much faster and it does all the work for him. The angles are all preset for him so he doesn't have to manually guess the angle and hope its correct. I'm not really into sharpening knives but it seemed like there were several options on how you can go about sharpening the knife depending on what kind of knife you are sharpening. Anyway, as long as he loves it that's all that mattered to me. I highly recommend this item if you want a good quality knife sharpener. It seems like this product will hold up for a very long time because of the quality. Hope this review helps you out and thanks for reading!!!

Quality.
Yes you do spend a little bit more. Yes you do get what you pay for. This product is of very high quality. German engineering is bar none with this product. The ball bearings are smooth and roll seamlessly. The rubber grommets on the outside are very durable. For I have missed a few times and thought I would cut through the rubber. That did not happen. The thickness of the abrasive that is put on the wheels is very thick and the backing is made of steel. It's about an eighth of an inch thick. The Walnut finish looks awesome. The magnet is the best. From the moment you pick this product up feel the weight of it in your hand. You know it is very well built and of high quality. The product is very durable and is made to last a lifetime. I have dropped it on the floor and not a problem at all. I know it's more money then most roller sharpeners. In this case you get what you pay for. You're paying for more but you're receiving it. Yes I would buy this product again. As far as the performance when resetting the angles yes it takes a little while. But once you have the correct angle on your knife when you do reshopening it's very fast. A couple of swipes on either side. You change the wheels to the finer grit if you bought that kit. Zip it back and forth hit it with the leather strap and it's as good as new. I love how compact it is. I love the magnet that holds the sharp knife place for safety. The last thing you want is that knife to get away from your magnetic base. It is the easiest way to sharpen your knives. I feel you cannot get any better performance from a roller sharpener.

Quickly and easily makes my knives sharper than they’ve ever been!
I’m not a knife-sharpening expert or fanatic, but I like my kitchen knives to be sharp. I’ve had a couple of other sharpeners, but I was never able to get my knives consistently as sharp as I wanted them. However, the HORL 3 Cruise was different from any sharpener I’ve ever used. The first thing I noticed is how easy it is to use. You place the block that holds the knife on a surface like an old cutting board, then move the knife near it and the strong magnets grab it and hold it firmly in place. You have an easy choice between either a 20 or 15 degree angle so you can get exactly the sharpening angle you want. Then you grab the roller and gently roll the grinder edge against the knife blade. Once you have the edge as sharp as you want (the instructions give a nice tip on how you can tell), you flip the roller and use the stainless steel side to smooth the edge. The magnetic block and the roller are both easy to hold and quite comfortable to use. They’re also made of plastic that was in or was destined for the ocean, so it’s a nice ecological touch, too. They feel as if they will also be very durable. This sharpener works very well, and it’s very quick. I was able to put an accurate 15 degree angle on 6 knives in about 15 minutes. My knives are sharper than they’ve ever been, it was easier to get them that way than anything I’ve ever used…and the sharpener cost quite a bit less than other sharpeners that didn’t work as well. I’m glad I got this, quite satisfied with my choice.

Does not get your knives sharp enough to cut paper!
Am I doing this wrong? i've watched videos, and followed directions and even contacted the company to find out. Their suggestion was to use tools that were not included in the model I purchased wen though I told them which model I had up front My knives are a little bit sharper but no where near where I expected them to be. I certainly can't slice a sheet of paper like I keep seeing in reviews and videos. I'm open to suggestions. I don't think I would recommend this product nor would I buy it again.

Good Buy
Easy to use - however, would have preferred the sharpening edge to be longer to better support long knives.
