This comprehensive pocket guide is the perfect introduction to finding, identifying, and collecting fossils. It features more than 500 species of plant and animal fossils, from trilobites to dinosaurs, to fossil trees. Over 1,000 photographs, most of them annotated, help you to pick out a fossil's most telling features, while a colour illustration shows the fossil as a living plant or animal. A colour-coded table in each species entry encapsulates vital information - such as scientific name, age, and habitat - for quick, easy reference. To help with the tricky initial stages of identification, the book also provides a diagram that makes it easy to recognize a fossil and place it in its correct group. DK Handbooks: Fossils is the ideal one-stop introduction to the fascinating world of fossil hunting and collecting. Review: An exceptional book for adults or children. - I have bought quite a few children's books on fossils for my eight year old son, and while some are lovely, none are really much good when you are trying to identify a fossil. This is an excellent book with very good detailed photos, a drawing of each species as it may have looked when living, brief information on each species including its size, order, family group, which period it lived in, distribution and occurrence. There is also a short paragraph describing each fossil, notes on habitat and in many cases a few extra titbits on info under remarks. This book was detailed enough that I really enjoyed it, but easy enough to understand that it was completely accessible to my eight year old son, and quite useful even for my five year old. My oldest was able to identify an unknown fossil in his collection on the first day, and another a few days later making this book a huge success. I especially liked the fact that the main focus was on the most common fossils. Sure my child would love to uncover a Megalosaurus or something, but it isn't terribly likely. This book covers many the fossils the average collector is more apt to be able to find or buy for a reasonable price. If you are looking for really extensive details on any given species, this book will not suffice. But it will help you discover exactly what you have so you can look up more details later. Review: Dk books are just great - I brought this book at the same time as another thinking they were different, they actually weren’t but this one’s an updated version of the other so has some extra info in it , was super cheap so I didn’t mind too much. Informative and beautiful pictures, something guaranteed with every DK book and the main reason I’ve been enjoying them since the 90s! Always well worth the money.

fossils
This is one of the best books from DK -at least they didnt make a mess of the illustrations as theey usually do. After a good introduction section that includes ,what is a fossil, means ofpreservation,a geological time chart, where to look and an identification key. Fossils are divided into 3 -vertebrates,invertebrates and plants. For each species there is an illustration with size, adiscussion of the fossil, habitat and common and Latin names. Very well researched and presented. It contains all you will need to know about fossils.

Fossils by David Ward
This book is an outstanding account of the various fossils to be found worldwide . However , it does cover fossils to be found in the United Kingdom . It is very well produced and the coloured photographs are excellent . I recommend this book to anyone interested in paleontology , or to fossil collectors . K. A. Whittington FICE , FGS .

Fossils (Eyewitness Handbooks)
I think, that I bought an excellent book, that I expected to be in advance. I bought a lot of books, many of them of different topics, so I cannot Review all of them within a short time according they deserve it. So I will judge them as excellent and keep this written comment short.

Pour adultes ou enfant
Livre d’identification parfait avec de belles photos et explications. Je l'ai acheté pour mon petit-fils de 8 ans qui va peut-être le trouver difficile au début mais le livre peut lui servir toute sa vie.
