Russian Propaganda in the form of a kids book FR
Do NOT buy this book for your kids - it is essentially Russian propaganda. The entire so-called history of innovation is nothing but a retelling of technology history where Russia, at times China, and then Britain rule the day with US innovation minimized and dismissed. Did Bell really create the telephone? No according to this book. Who pioneered space exploration? Well - the Soviets of course! Per their depiction of a two page spread of Soviet leadership and rockets in spacecraft in a tiny 2 x 2 image of Neil Armstrong on the moon in the very bottom right. Towards the end, there’s a single page listing these space agencies of the major governments around the world and of course, who do they start with, China. For the vacuum tube, which was legitimately created by a British researcher, they start by stating that while Edison (not identified as American) was “fiddling around with lightbulbs” discovered the underlying principles first. This is not poor writing. It is a book focused on a take down of US takedown innovative - the most innovative and accomplished nation in history in S&T and space exploration by any measure - especially modern day history. Finally, there is no origin statement on the book of where this thing comes from at all not even a printed in China statement - that is a violation of US import law. So at face value it looks like a high-quality children’s and encyclopedia of knowledge but what it really is is propaganda.

I have purchased the whole set of these books (independently) and they’re fantastic!! Amazing quality, gorgeous illustrations and they’re not overly complicated. I purchased them for myself and my home educated children to use. They’ve helped a lot with their education!
