Looks great and wifi works great!
I wanted to extend my wifi out into the garden, so put this on a socket in the kitchen nearest my back door. I'm pleased to say that it works great and I now have wifi in every corner of my garden. This will be great for post lockdown BBQs and parties this summer, getting spotify blasting out! I found setting up the wifi really easy. I used my phone to connect to the "wi-fi socket" SSID wifi network, then scanned the QR code which is in the install leaflet (can also download the doc from the web for future usage if you lose this or can't find it in the future). This opens a web page which prompts you to scan for wifi networks in range. You select the one you want, it connects and that's it! One thing to note though... As I liked the look of it, I bought matching double sockets for the other sockets in the kitchen, so had to turn the power off. This meant the wifi had to be reset when I turned the power back on. I'd thrown the instructions away, so found them online, but I'd forgotten to connect to the "wi-fi socket" SSID before scanning the QR code, so it wouldn't work. I eventually figured it out and it worked no problem. However I then replaced another socket in the hall and found that when I turned the power back on, the "wi-fi socket" SSID was not showing up on my phone, even when I turned the power on and off a few times at the fuse box. However I eventually pressed the button on the socket for about 30 seconds and it reset itself and the wi-fi socket network showed up on my phone and I was set up within a minute. It's been working fine ever since.

Great for Smart device control - excellent range extender - but don’t buy for streaming.
I had some range issues with connecting smart devices that were proving unreliable - a smart plug & light bulb - at the front of my house. I tried one of those £10 plug-in extenders which worked well enough but, of course, permanently uses up a socket which isn’t too clever in the kitchen! So I thought I’d try one of these, having read the reviews, understood the limitations and felt confident about a DIY installation. It was incredibly easy to substitute for one of my conventional power sockets - literally took 5 minutes. Set up with my router was OK - as other reviewers have pointed out, the QR code supplied on the printed instructions takes you nowhere, but the URL they also supply worked for me, setting everything up via the browser on my iPhone. For me, this extender does exactly what I need; Smart devices that only got a weak signal off the previous plug-in extender now have “excellent” or “good” reception and rock solid performance reported through the SmartLife app. In fact, at the bottom of the garden, the extender’s signal is stronger than the one straight off my Asus router - even though the router signal should (in theory) have an easier path. However, where this device won’t suit is if you are looking to use it for TV streaming. I don’t know why they quote a wireless speed of “up to 300Mbps” because the device doesn’t get anywhere near that for me. Here are my typical wireless download speeds using the Speedtest app: Asus router 5 GHz - 400 Mbps Asus router 2.4 GHz - 90 Mbps Wi-Fi extender 2.4 GHz - 8 Mbps So, like I say, this extender has done everything I need for connecting up smart devices away from my router, but I wouldn’t consider it for TV streaming.

It works
I saw a review on YouTube for this socket and decided to give it a try, As soon as I go into the garden I loose wifi but not anymore, full signal. Fitting was easy and took just 5 minutes from being deliver to being in the wall, pairing was a minute or 2 later and now I can sit with the pup outside when it's not raining. Great product and one that makes being in the garden a lot more entertaining.

Doesn't live up to the claims
Well made piece of kit, obviously up to safety standards. Works as a double socket electric plug should and the USB socket performs well. Sadly although working properly the wi-fi aspect is dire, no improvement whatsoever. Once I got my head around the instructions, set-up was relatively easy. The wi-fi signal from the extender was detected immediately by my network so I had high hopes. The WPS method of setup worked but didn't hold the signal more than a few seconds so I opted for the QR code setup which worked exactly as it should, which is why the resulting signal strength in the required room is so disappointing. The attached photos (screen-grabs actually) speak for themselves; my wi-fi signal in the lounge where the router is is very good (pic 1) but in the bedroom where the extender is (pic 2) , its rubbish. No improvement, so largely a waste of money, just an expensive USB socket. Of course there are many factors that may be in play to explain the poor signal, but at the end of the day I didn't get what I paid for.

Good WiFi extender for Ring doorbell
Very easy to install, just switch electrics off and remove old socket and replace with this one making sure the wires connect up to the correct terminals. Set up was pretty straight forward too. I use this to extend WiFi connection to my Ring video doorbell where very high speed connection is not required, I still get about 25-30Mbps both download and upload speeds when connected to this using Speedtest. The socket replaced an existing one which is about 8ft away from the video doorbell and the router about 50ft which gives the video doorbell a stronger solid connection than just connecting to the router directly - this allowed me to do away with a power line WiFi set up which took up a socket space, the connection speeds of this were pretty much the same so no loss in that sense.

Wi-Fi Repeater. NOT
Product quality is good, but forget about the wifi repeater. The signal is so slow, it is useless. To get a better signal, you need to be closer to an access point, if that were the case you wouldn’t need a repeater! Also, when I received the product, it was in an open packaging with no instructions and the screws were missing. Why didn’t I send it back you may ask, well firstly I had some screws of my own and secondly, it took a few hours to wire this in where I needed it and set up the repeater, so didn’t want to spend the rest of my day removing it and repacking (with my own packaging) to send it back! Amazon, you really need to vet your suppliers!

Know What You're Buying...
There are a lot of negative reviews left here by people who don't appear to have done much research before they bought this. If you want to extend a 2.4GHz network for something like a CCTV camera, Echo or SmartHome products or something else which uses limited internet bandwidth then this is ideal and incredibly easy to set up. Most modern routers offer dual band WiFi - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Most modern devices, including consoles, iPads and your phone will by default connect using 5Ghz. Most routers offer separate 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, but not all of them are set to provide the separated bands by default. You will need to go into your router settings to split the bands, otherwise this repeater might not function properly [for what it's worth, my Virgin router offered both bands by fault, but my girlfriends EE router didn't and it took a little bit of troubleshooting to split the bands and get the socket to work]. If you want to extend the range of your 5GHz WiFi then this product probably isn't for you. If your router doesn't offer separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands then this product might not be for you either. If you're trying to stream Netflix in HD in a room 40 meters from your router then this product probably isn't for you. If you want to connect your external wireless cameras, your Amazon Echo or other smart home devices to a 2.4GHz wireless network, then this is an incredible effective, clean and easy solution.
