(This review is specifically for the Mud color. I also use Bark, and the experience is slightly different.) I've tried several brands of temporary beard color. I have dark brown hair so I was getting dark brown colors. Technically they matched my hair but they looked too heavy somehow, so I wanted to try a lighter color. I also wanted to try another brand as what I had used so far tended to clump when applying, leaving little beads on individual hairs that looked unnatural; plus they felt sticky. Enter Volt. No problem with clumping, looks natural. And while you can still feel you have color on as opposed to naked hair, it's MUCH lighter feeling & not nearly as stiff or sticky. The alcohol smell doesn't bother me, & even if it did it only lasts a few seconds. I actually like the cool sensation while applying. The color stays on really well. Although that will vary depending on your lifestyle of course. In my case it takes wiping my beard hard with a towel & a couple of showers before it's completely out. A couple of cautions though... 1. This is NOT for sparse-coverage or stubble-length facial hair. In other words, it DOES stain the skin. And if you don't get it off in 2 or 3 SECONDS, you're out of luck. 2. The "applies in under 60 seconds" claim is REALLY far-fetched. Definitely plan for some extra time in your "getting ready to go out the door routine". 3. Have realistic expectations. Using ANY brand of this type of beard color takes a bit of practice & patience. So now returning to the color issue. Since I wanted to go a little lighter, I decided to try Mud. However, it wound up being too light by itself for me. I also tried Bark, but it's too dark like the other brands. So I got the idea to use them together. I apply Mud first to get a good base coverage. Then I put a LIGHT layer of Bark over that (without trying to get every hair). That gives me enough dark brown to match my hair well enough without looking too heavy. I'm really happy I found Volt. Yes it's typically more expensive, but the tube lasts longer, and the results are superior. I've ended my search for beard color & definitely recommend Volt.

Use it on my mustache. My hair is dark grey but my mustache is pure white doesn't look right - so this helps when applied very lightly Makes the mustache hair stiff -wears off in one to two days!

The best you can find.

The wide brush is nice. Product seems nice, but the mud brown is way lighter than the package color sample square. It's more like light brown / dark blonde at best. And yes, I shook up the bottle longer than suggested. I will try bark brown if it becomes available again. I have the blackbeard brand in dark brown and that works good and is the proper color, but it takes a longer time to get shipped and runs out a little fast.

What’s great product that’s actually made in America too! No crazy chemicals and get rid of the grey. I will definitely give this business my money again.

While this product does cover your grey the color is very flat and and artificial looking. It appears you painted your face like a clown. It does rub off on everything and they claim it does not very disappointing.

So far happy with the application results, but don’t leave the open container laying on a side of the sink as I did - half of it leaked out as I was applying the stuff and there is no way it can be stood upright on its own… A bit of a design problem the way I see it.
