Do i need to use the Wood Protector product in addition to the top oil on my newly installed oak work tops?

Its upto you wether you use the wood protector - it will help protect and seal the wood prior to using the top oil, some people use it and some dont.

what is difference between clear and natural?

Rest Express - Wood Finishing Products:  Clear will darken the wood a little.  A few drops of water onto the wood will give an indication of how it would look.  Natural has a touch of white pigment to counter that effect and therefore have minimal impact on the appearance of the wood. Osmo top oil. Can I use on my kitchen table and will it protect from rings caused by hot coffee or tea mugs?

I would have assumed so, ie that it would work just as well as on tables as kitchen worktops.  However, having only just purchased/applied this specific product I've not had chance as yet to gage its performance over a period of time.  Respectfully, however, I do consider the only real way to keep wooden surfaces totally mark free from the rings created by hot mugs and the like is to have place mats strategically placed to obviate the problem.  That said, one of the reasons I have historically (baring one occasion – which caused me to learn the lesson!) always used the silk as opposed to matt finish for such surfaces, is that the silk does seem to provide a greater level of protection against the ever-present risk of ending up with brown water staining, in particular, on wooden kitchen worktops, when water is allowed to 'sit'.  You'll appreciate, in a holiday cottage the worktops are potentially subject to greater wear and tear, perhaps from guests unaware of the need to look after wooden worktops!  If you go ahead and purchase this product, the means of application is so, so easy, compared to how it's been done before, ie either with gloss roller or paint brush; once prepared, you can certainly make an application of the Osmo sealer very quickly with a lint-free cloth. Is this needing topping up every couple of month's like Danish oil and can you wipe your worktops down with normal multi surface cleaner like cif

You will need to re-apply the finish every so often, due to this being an oil.
The cif cleaner will strip the oil, the osmo wash and care is recommended for cleaning, or warm soapy water.
