Fuji Spray 2202 Semi-PRO 2 - HVLP Spray System

Prior to purchasing the Fugi Sprayer Semi-Pro, I read every review and watch a lot of YouTube presentations on it. For the money, I felt this would be the best choice. I've used this sprayer on a couple of projects now and have come to appretiate some things about it and question a few things. Pros: 1. Surprisingly quiet considering it's a small turbine. 2. The hose is very manageable without having to buy the small pigtail that some have. 3. Its fairly simple to clean, though I use water based prodocts 4. The instruction manual is good and to the point. 5. Fairly light weight compared to the old sprayer I had. 6. The quality is unmistakably great. Everything about it is top notch. 7. It performed flawlessly and both my customer and I loved the finish it gave. Cons: (These go to marketing not the ability of the machine) 1. Parts are not available near me, order on line is about the only option. 2. A 1.3 mm spray tip came with the gun. That's great for spraying thin material but normal stuff like polyurathane, lacquer and such you need at least a 1.5 mm tip. They should include this. At about $45 dollars a pop that would have been nice. If I ever wanna spray water though I have the tip for it. 3. The filter at the bottom of the pickup tube broke after 2 uses. I order a new one (5 in a package $10) but had to wait to finish a project due to it. They include a package of "wearable parts" why the don't include the filter beats me. Overall I'd buy it again just because of the quality. Quality in the way it's built, quality in the parts ( when I bought the new tip the parts came with not only the tip but all new nozzle, needle, air caps and collar) and Quality in the end result, an absolutely stunning finish. I'll be spraying some paint soon and when I do I'll update the review on that. Mike Update 6/4/2020 Well I promised an update on paint spraying and I have done a few pieces now and I can say I'm very pleased with the results. Getting the paint to a point where you don't have the "Orange Peel" effect takes some trial and error but once you understand it your going to get better at it. My recommendation is to read Arni's review. He is spot on and much more articulate with what he says about this sprayer.

Without question, the Fuji Spray 2202 is in a class of its own. The precision, consistency, and finish quality are exceptional. Whether I’m spraying primers, paints, or fine cabinet finishes, the results are outstanding. Switching between different products is quick, easy, and virtually hassle-free, which saves valuable time on every project. If you’re looking for a professional-quality spray system that delivers flawless results and is a pleasure to use, I can’t recommend the Fuji Spray 2202 highly enough. It’s one of the best investments I’ve made for my business.

Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the Semi-Pro 2. Everything was very high quality, all metal turbine housing and spray gun and quality hose with brass fittings. Instructions were very clear and readable, plus I watched several of the comprehensive videos from Fuji Spray. I used the system to spray two Adirondack chairs using Sherwin Williams Emerald and the quality of the final finish is excellent. I thinned the paint about 10% and had no problems. Cleanup is easy and I’m confident I’ll get great results for a long time. I’m very satisfied with the purchase.

Impressive and robustly built machine! Ive never sprayed before. After some research, I ended up choosing this semi pro 2 bottom feed HVLP. Then, did more research on needle tips, paints, primers, videos, etc. My first spray project EVER, complete noob! Using a 2mm tip, I painted a big sliding closet door (7 ft height x 4 ft width) To get a feel for the system I used Kilz 2 primer (thinned to 70 sec on Ford cup) and Behr latex paint (also 2mm tip thinend to 70 sec) (Research beforehand states that Behr paint is the absolute worst for spraying and Kilz 2 is like molasses, but did it anyway). I removed the air control valve for max air pressure, also removed the filter from the intake tube and it coated primer and paint nicely! 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of latex. Apart from a bit of mist, Very little overspray! Armi's review helped A LOT with narrowing down the setting and saving time with trial/error. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PROS: *User-friendly and VERY forgiving for beginners, with minimal learning curve. *Clean up time 10 min with 3M system and approx 20 min with vanilla cup. A bit longer when spraying shellac. *Ability to spray unthinned material coupled with the 3M 2.0 system and 1.8mm/2.0mm tip *Durable, reliable, versatile, excellent build quality and fantastic customer support *Quick swap with 3M disposable cups for longer spraying sessions (Prefill additional cups, seal with plug, then invert the cup to keep filter wet.) Planning on spraying SWEUTE on interior doors without thinning using 1.8mm tip (Will update after) *UPDATE 11/25/25: - 2.0mm tip Stix Primer UN-thinned. No problem at all! Coated nicely! (See pics) *UPDATE 3/31/26 I’m continually amazed by this machine. It’s a true workhorse and produces a beautiful finish with each use. It’s easily one of the best purchases I’ve made for my solo whole-house remodel, and it has more than paid for itself. The minimal overspray is a huge bonus for me. Primed and painted 2 metal doors (Front door and door to garage) ,6 more cabinet doors, 1 bathroom shelf and 2 mirror frames. - I no longer use the Ford cup. I now only dilute SWUETE with 5% water with the 1.5mm needle. 4 in fan & 4 inch stand off. I use the 1.8mm needle & 5% water for the larger surface area Front door/Kitchen->Garage door. - I still dont sand between coats of SWEUTE and Stix. If I took the time to sand, the finish would definitely go from 90% to 100% pro-grade. - Metal doors: Stix primer and SWUETE High Hide White Semi Gloss and Iron Ore Semi Gloss - Cabinet doors: Stix primer and SWUETE Iron Ore Semi Gloss

I bought this mainly for spraying furniture and cabinets and it has worked really well. The finish comes out smooth and even every time, no brush marks or streaks. The spray gun is easy to use. You can adjust the fan pattern to wide or narrow depending on what you're working on, which is super handy. The 25-foot hose gives you plenty of room to move around without dragging the machine with you. The turbine is powerful and the metal case feels sturdy. It's not the cheapest option out there, but you can tell it's built to last. One tip: take a little time upfront to get the paint thickness and air pressure right for whatever coating you're using. Once that's dialed in, the results look really professional. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone doing furniture or cabinet work.

I finish furniture and spray a lot of lacquer. This 2202 Semi-Pro sprayer is totally awesome. Even if you are a beginner at spraying, this machine will make you look like a pro. Very easy to use and straight forward. I have not experienced any leakage or malfunctions. It is a very versatile machine. It can spray a variety of finishes. Once you get it dialed in with the material that you are spraying, it will lay down a nice smooth and even coat. Also, it is super easy to clean when finished. I wish I had purchased one a long time ago. In my opinion, you just can't go wrong with this Fuji Spray System. Two things to note. It is a turbine, so naturally it will be a bit noisy. But to me it is not an issue because I place it as far away as I can from my spray area. The other is that it does get hot so be sure to let it cool down before removing the air hose. I would highly recommend this unit to any of my friends without hesitation.

I purchased the Fuji Semi-PRO 2 System (#2202) through Amazon and have been extremely happy with its performance. The finish quality is outstanding, the unit is easy to set up, and cleanup is straightforward. I use it regularly for painting projects, and it provides consistent, professional-looking results every time. The turbine is reliable, and the overall build quality is excellent. I highly recommend Fuji Spray products to anyone looking for a dependable HVLP system.

Been ordering from Amazon for many years. Never have I written a review. This paint sprayer is worth every penny if you are wanting to paint furniture or cabinets. Used it for kitchen cabinets. I was a little hesitant to spray a lot of paint for fear of drips but after getting comfortable with it the paint goes on smooth and with a professional finish. Some hvlp sprayers are 1/3 or 1/2 the cost but I’ve used a few of them and would never think about using them again. With any paint sprayer there is overspray so not for every job. This was the second of three planned coats on cabinet doors. First time using Fuji spray products. Very pleased. Easy clean up. Took it apart the first night thinking there should be more to do to clean it. There wasn’t. Follow the directions. All good.

Sprays very nicely—factory finish level. easy to clean and maintain. A bit noisy, mostly limited to stain and lacquers and other thin finishes (despite them selling larger caps you'd need much more power for). Very spendy (and especially the parts) for something such as this, unless you were using it daily/several times per week to earn money with it. Hose is cumbersome, and other reviews state that the lightweight "whip" offering (also expensive for a plastic hose) doesn't last. I used a lightweight garden hose instead and that worked nicely.

All other reviews have been very positive about this product so I’m asking for a replacement and willing to give it another go as the reviews and videos I’ve watched are so good

I ordered this FugiSpray Semi-Pro2 with Suction Feed for my for my brother in law Scott King. This is his review: “The build quality of the unit is very good and solid. The materials and finish of the M-Model gun are very good and the movement of the trigger and the adjusting knobs are nice and smooth. The noise level of the Turbine was not as loud as I had expected. There was no need for hearing protection like there would be with an air compressor. I sprayed an area of about 8’ x 10’ very easily. The paint was laid down smooth and even. The paint was an automotive type paint with a hardener and a reducer mixed in as per the manufacturers instructions. I did not use the Viscosity Cup to check the paint. The unit was easy to use and easy to clean after. The hose is thick and solid looking but very flexible , it looks heavy but I did not notice the weight as I was spraying. I would highly recommend the unit.”

So far it works fine (recommended)
