how comfortable are these for very narrow ear canals (I can only get comfortable with the smallest (green) Howard Leight foam plugs)?

Not garbage just quieter. Takes out some of the base as well.

Hi! Good question. It will also filter out excessive engine noise. The filters are geared towards the harmful frequencies and a proper race car can definitely hit those tones.
