This gold Zippo instantly became one of my favourite lighters. The high-polish brass looks gorgeous in person, shiny, reflective, and with that classic, slightly vintage feel that only brass gives. The Armor casing is noticeably thicker than a standard Zippo, which gives it a solid, premium weight in the hand. The hinge feels tight and smooth, and the famous Zippo “click” is as satisfying as ever. Once filled, it lights on the first strike with a steady flame, even outdoors. The adjustable flame is a nice touch too, letting you fine-tune it depending on what you’re using it for. I also really liked the presentation. It comes in a sleek gift box that makes it feel special right out of the packaging, great as a present or just for collectors. If you want a lighter that looks incredible, works reliably, and will last for years, this one is absolutely worth it.

A very nice lighter. This is the 'armor' version, which is American for 'Armour'. Feels nice and strong. Lights every time and is hard to blow out. I love the shiny brass look. I'm certain this will spark into life for ages to come. Fits easily in a 'Pocket watch pocket' on my jeans. Simple to use. Great.

Having had Zippo lighters for years, I recently lost my 20 year old polished Brass anniversary model. Looking for a replacement I found this "armored" model. The parcel arrived in time, and being familiar with Zippo lighters there was no surprise when I opened the package. The new lighter is every bit as good as I expected but, as it is the so called armored model, it is somewhat heavier due to the greater wall thickness of the material. I was astonished that this lighter feels even more solid than the standard Zippo. If you are looking for a practical every day use Zippo lighter, look no further. I can't imagine anything better looking or more reliable.

I had to buy a Zippo lighter (or 3) when I bought a Zippo hand warmer. I'd already bought a matt black one and decided that I wanted an armoured one too. The difference is that the metal on the armoured version is thicker which makes it a bit more resilient to knocks and bumps. It's quite easy to see the difference when you hold the two up next to each other and this has become my preferred lighter for every day use. I also love the fact that every Zippo lighter has a lifetime guarantee so if anything goes wrong with it - send it back to the factory and they'll fix it free of charge - it has to be a quality product for the company to be that confident and they certainly feel great quality. Get the genuine Zippo lighter fuel too as it smells a lot less than some of the other brands.

As per the title, if you only buy one Zippo (although I'm not sure why you would), make it this one. Not only does it look a wonderful mix of classy and expensive, all decked out in its gold-coloured exterior, but being part of the 'Armor' range it has a weight and solidity that normal Zippos lack. Yes, it still has those traits (quirks) that all Zippo lighters share like a slightly wobbly cap when open and a complete inability to hold fuel for anything more than a couple of weeks without it completely evaporating, but that takes nothing away from what's a solid and reliable lighter that's only made that much better by being housed in a solid brass suit. That suit, though, is the Zippo's one Achilles' heel, as it attracts fingerprints and scratches like pretty much nothing else on the planet, in fact mine arrived fairly tarnished even though it was plainly new, with a `2014' date stamp on the bottom. I'm not massively concerned because, as another reviewer said, marks serve to give it character and a quick going-over with Brasso might do the trick, but I was still slightly disappointed not to receive a pristine example.

Can't afford the 10k to buy the solid gold version, here's the solution. Lovely warm brass and highly polished surface. I no longer smoke but use mine for candles, carrying with me should any smokers need a light. I alternate using fluid to light and gas butane insert. An affordable design classic, lovely to touch, smell, hear and view. Sadly must revise review down. Petrol version has puny longevity and flints and wick last no time at all.

Zippo Armor - Tumbled Brass. I left this review until I'd had it for a year - well, who wants to read "Recieved new Zippo today. At last I can smoke". It's a typical Zippo (I have a few) - it lights first time just about every time and the lifetime guarantee, in this case, really does mean it will be around when I'm gone. After a year in my pocket I would describe the finish now as "Brass" rather than "Tumbled Brass", but I do like the extra weight of the Armor models. (It's a small thing, no doubt, but I no longer worry so much about snipers shooting me in the trouser pocket area). And the lighter insert doesn't have a solid brass chimney either - opening and closing the lid with soon reveal the steel underneath. To me, neither of these are a problem - if you want it to always look pristine in a collection, you don't use it anyway. The other thing I like is that a few of the, almost compulsory, Zippo Tricks are a little easier with the heavier model. Because that's what else Zippos are for. It starts with the lid open/spark up with one fast and fluid movement of the thumb (and not forgetting the Reservoir Dogs finger-snap that Harvey Keitel almost does..); through the intermediate level with "steal the flame away with thumb and forefinger then snap those same fingers together in the air to make the flame magically reappear" (still not too difficult but can involve minor burns at first); all the way to the spinning, flying, death defying feats of wizardy practiced by the experienced Zippo user with altogether too much time on his hands. Practice in secret then, from time to time, perform one in a cool and casual way when you know it will be seen and you're laughing. (NB laughing in a cool and casual way, of course. This also takes practice. Conversely, if you get the trick wrong - especially in ways that conclude with a flying, spinning "Zippo Of Death" plopping loudly into your drink - at least everyone else gets a laugh. You will be going home alone again, of course. But it won't be the Zippo that let you down). Zippos do dry up after two or three weeks, even if you don't use them, and the wicks don't last forever - especially if you like to trim them from time to time to keep the flame at it's best. (That's a given though - I also keep a pack of spare flints zipped up in my jacket and a little fuel canister clipped to my keyring for emergencies.) But they will light in anything short of a gale (I've often wondered if Zippo really did lobby for the smoking ban). And there's something reassuring about the characteristic sound of a Zippo click and the plain simple engineering that goes with it. A reminder of days gone by when customer reviews were entirely unnecessary because things just, well, worked...

I collect zippos and was not impressed with the zippo factory releasing this lighter for sale. Someone at the testing factory had a bad day.
