first it's gripping to get into the story, then somewhere alongthe line, it gets real messed up but in a fantastic way. So actor ashton is a little boy who keeps having black outs, that goes on for abit at the beggining intil a freak accident happens. After that he's say 21years old in college, doing college things, doesn't get black outs no more either. Then he finds these old journels he used to write when he was alittle one, having black outs. Whenever he reads them, he can go back to when he was just about to have a black out as alittle one, but the only difference is he doesn't have a black out now, and he controls the little version of him to change the past. Ofcourse if you change the past, you change the future, so he awakens as the 21year old in different situations, so he keeps going back into time to change the future intil it's how it used to be again. Gripping stuff. 5stars for me, and ashton is surprisingly really good in it.

This is easily one of the best and most original films I have ever seen. It tells the story of a group of childhood friends who go to university. Whilst at university, the lead character (Kutcher) begins to read his childhood diaries, and notices something very odd. Whenever he reads them, he falls into a trance, then suddenly finds himself back at the exact moment in his childhood refered to in the diary entry. But there is something even more interesting. If he takes a certain course of action in this state that differs from what he did historically, when he returns to the present day, things have changed dramatically. For example in one sequence, he returns to find his troubled college friend has become a wholesome and popular girl. In another episode, he returns to find that she has become a drug addicted prostitute.Once he discovers he has this ability, he then deliberately reads painful episodes from his childhood diary so that he can return to them and 'set things straight'. However, he soon finds that everytime he does this, no matter what he does, there is almost always something very bad that has happened in the future as a result. In the worst incident, he finds himself in prison wrongly accused of murder, and being sexually bullied by two larger inmates.This film is very powerful, and touches on a very deep human desire to be able to go back and do things differently. Highly recommended.

This film is very cleverly put together and requires some concentration. Ashton Kutcher is the main character Evan(also in Just married) and has always been close to Kayleigh (Amy Smart also in Road trip). As a child he suffers from blackouts and does not know what has happened to him. When he is older at college he discovers that he can travel back in time to where he had blackouts, (not by a time machine by the way). He discovers the horrific traumatic events that happened to him in his blackouts and trys to repair them but each time he alters something it has a caotic effect (caos theory - butterfly effect, butterfly fluttering its wings can cause a hurricane a million miles away hence the title of the film) and it messes up someones life. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is easily horrified or is sensitive about disturbing events to young children but in the end things are sorted out so some events never happen. If you saw this film in the cinema be warned as the director's cut has a completely different ending which i found much more disturbing. The original cinema version is missing from the discs although there are other alternate endings. If you want thrilling entertainment I suggest you buy this film.

Amazing movie

Ive always liked this movie.Advice. Watch the DC, it's much more a complete movie.This movie demands two things. An acceptance of its artistic license. And repeat views. Watching this movie more than once will open up new ideas about what's going onIs TBC a love story, sci-fi. Who cares?It's a vvg film that sadly still remains unknownIt gets a lot of bad reviews.In my view it's a totally brilliant movie that sucks the viewer into the movies thesis.I won't give any of the plot away and just leave it to the viewer to make up their own mindTBC is extremely original. It doesn't usually happen when a movie is still on my mind the next day (unless they're truly awesome or painfully awful), but this is one of them movies. And not because it's awful. It's touching and makes you think about your own life and what would it would be like now if 'I'd done that' or 'if that hadn't of happened to me'. Ashton Kutcher plays Evan Treborn. He is not my favourite actor but put in a really exceptional performance for this, as did all the other actors/actresses. The child stars also shone. It dealt with serious issues such as animal torture *SPOILER ALERT* A boy burns a dog alive, child abuse *SPOILER ALERT* A father forces a child Evan Treborn to have sex with his daughter while he films it, but it was all handle tastefully so we didn't actually see any of it. And every time Evan went back into his past, I was on the edge-of-my-seat to see how it changed his future. I simply loved this movie and will not be selling it at my next local car boot sale.

This is the silliest load of facile bollocks that I have ever seen. It's the sort of story I used to write as a teenager. Well, as a pre-teen, actually. What a waste of money! It cost me all of 1p Sterling. And that's not even counting the postage!It was entertaining as a comedy, though. So I haven't returned it. But the fact that millions can be spent on a film like this really makes me despair.

Bellissimo film, ottima edizione ma essendo io un genio ho preso l'edizione in tedesco e l'ho aperto dopo un mese quindi ora sto studiando a Berlino per poter godere a pieno dell'edizione acquistata. Il film è un capolavoro, il tedesco risulta rude anche quando non serve ma ha il suo fascino.

Im grandiosen und sehr intelligenten Film "Butterfly Effect" von Jonathan Mackey und Eric Bress kann Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher) diese Frage immer wieder neu und dadurch klären, das er sich auf ein Relikt seiner Vergangenheit konzentriert.Ob es nun ein Tagebuch oder ein Film ist. Grandios ist der Film deshalb, weil er den Zuschauer mit unberechenbaren Schnitten und passendem Sound so in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart herumzappt, das der Mühe hat zu folgen.Es ist ein Film mit sehr viel Aktion, aber dennoch kein Actionfilm. Es ist ein sehr intelligenter Film, der die komplizierte Materie der Chaos-Theorie als Grundlage hat. Der Flügelschlag eines Schmetterlings kann auf der anderen Seite der Welt einen Orkan erzeugen", so das Credo und die Botschaft.Evan sorgt 114 Minuten lang für eine Menge Chaos, weil er ziemlich heftig in der Vergangenheit herumdoktert und damit immer wieder für eine neue Gegenwart für sich und seine unmittelbare Umgebung sorgt. Dabei will Evan doch nur das Leben seiner gescheiterten Freunde wieder zurechtrücken und mit seiner großen Liebe Kayleigh (Amy Smart) glücklich werden. Aber gibt es eine Welt, die so perfekt ist, wie er sie haben will oder wird Evan vorher dabei womöglich selber wahnsinnig? Und kann er seinen Freunden ihre Traumata ersparen? Er weiß es genauso wenig wie der Zuschauer, aber Evan verändert einfach drauflos.Das dann aber so gründlich, das es den Zuschauer fesselt oder schockiert. Der Schock bei der einen oder anderen Szene saß echt tief, für zart besaitete Personen ist der Film wahrlich nichts. Sehr angenehm aufgefallen ist mir der Hauptdarsteller Ashton Kutcher, der eigentlich sonst mit eher belanglosen Filmen und seichterem Klamauk aufgefallen ist. Die eher ernste Rolle des Evan Treborn vermocht er jedenfalls sehr gut mit Leben zu erfüllen. Die zahllosen und teilweise sehr überraschenden Wendungen in der Handlung lassen diese 114 Minuten Film auf keinen Fall langweilig werden.Evan durchlebt seine Kindheit so oft und auch so schmerzhaft, das der Zuschauer einfach Mühe hat, dem auch folgen zu können. Es ist ein Film der primär den Intellekt des Zuschauers anspricht und sekundär auch dessen Emotionen.Der Film bedient aber nicht nur die Genres Thriller und Fantasy sondern zeigt sich erfreulicherweise teilweise auch philosophisch. Ein sehr unterhaltsamer Kinoabend für mich, der Beste seit langem, der meiner Meinung nach auch gute Chancen auf einen Oscar hat. Allein die gelungenen Schnitte wären es wert. Würde ich eine persönliche Wertung abgeben müssen, bekäme dieser Film von mir glatte 9/10. Und für alle Fans von Mystery-Filmen. Lohnt sich!

Obviously one of my favourites but I hated the end even it was original....Ashton and Amy made great jobs!!! Part 2 & 3 please make them dissapear!!!!

Ｂ級映画の名作として語り継がれていますがこのDVDには、日本語字幕と日本語の吹き替え、が入っている点が良いですね。映像特典としてラストの数種類の終わり方のデレクターズ編も収録されてます。あとBlu-ray盤も出ていますが、こちらは日本国内盤では、ないので日本語字幕や日本語吹き替えは入っていません。他の方のレビューを見てみると間違えて購入されている方が多かったので。続編もありますが、本作が一番、お話しとして面白いと思います。エンディングのoasisの曲がまた切ないハッピーエンドで盛り上げてくれます。
