well for a start it depends what software you want to use as your interface doesn't it. there is more than one option. there are a bunch of tutorials on youtube telling you how to get started with software and drivers etc, with new ones popping up every day. however, sdr sharp is best for beginners. just search for that and you'll be on your way.

does this device recieve wide bands for DMR walkie talkies & air band ? i mean all frequencies?

Yup, absolutely! As long as it is not encrypted, and within the 100kHz-1.7GHz specified range, you can receive most anything. The only thing you would need to add is an HF antenna (a balun is included, so this can be as simple as a longwire or dipole antenna made from spare wire). Thanks for your interest and support!

Can this device transmit and receive (transreceiver)?

The SDR in this bundle (NESDR SMArt v4) is a receiver only and cannot transmit. You can transmit with the Ham It Up if you have an appropriate transceiver, but a transceiver is not included in this bundle. Thanks for your interest.

Is this suitable for underground use... In particular, will it work in a 1000ft shaft if multiple repeaters are installed?

You would probably want to keep the antenna above ground, but I guess it depends on where the signals are that you are trying to receive. Thanks!
