Breaking Benjamin's explosive Hollywood Records debut, and Fink and Klepaski's move makes perfect sense. Uncompromising, cathartic and from the gut, the Ulrich Wild-produced (Deftones, Powerman 5000, Static X) album reveals a band with hard smarts, a keen sense of pop savvy, and influences that inclu de Tool, Nirvana and Korn. Review: Good CD - This item is a very good quality CD. The real deal. Everyone who likes this band or maybe even just this type of music will be pleased with the purchase. American Hardrock As It Should Be!
Breaking Benjamin excel at hitting that perfect level within their music. They manage to push all but a few of their songs to be as heavy as possible without losing the song's meaning and without the song just becoming a lead singer screaming over an overcomplicated guitar riff, Which is a popular route for many bands in the heavier half of the rock genre. This album is no exception and a great listen for anyone who enjoys clean but powerful vocals, solid composition and just a little bit of the heavier stuff in their music library. 'Wish I May' is a great way to start any album. While far from the best song in the set, the first minute showcases a lot of what you can expect from the songs to follow. Kicking off with a good old fashioned, well built but ultimately pointless scream. Then kicks in a great instrumental melody and a excellent vocal performance. Although the 'Wish I May' is one of the dullest on the record, it is a great way to start. 'Medicate' follows and shows the bands Nirvana influences while also proving how quickly they can turn a seemingly somber performance into a chorus that not only catchy but holds well to the tone of the song. The album seems to level out for the next few songs. Some great well written songs, nothing groundbreaking and pretty derivative of other bands that have already set the standard for songs around the post-grunge genre. But solid songs. 'Polyamorous' and 'Next To Nothing' being the highlights. 'Water', 'Home', 'Phase' and 'No Games' have hints of the band getting more experimental.'Phase', is great example of how Breaking Benjamin can incorporate heavier aspects into their songs. 'Sugarcoat' however shows this heavier side off a bit. Light almost crooning verses and heavy screaming choruses. by no means a bad song but it doesn't play to any of the bands strengths. Finally, we arrive at 'Shallow Bay'. A finisher that does the same as 'Wish I May' at showcasing the broad range of styles Breaking Benjamin can display. But, where would we be with the obligatory hidden track. 'Forever' is right up there with the best on the album. Starts slow and methodical and builds almost in an almost unnoticeable fashion into something more akin to middle section of the album. Overall a great album, It does blend together a bit with no real crescendo or any particular stand out songs but all songs are worth a listen in their own right. A good addition to any CD collection.

A beautiful first album
A very enjoyable album. The very start of Breaking Benjamin and a great start at that. From the very first song, all the way through, the album flows along nicely. My favorite song from the bunch is probably 'wish I may' or 'home'. Or 'saturate'. Really not sure now. As with all their subsequent albums which followed there are so many great great songs to enjoy. I have never listened to any other group or solo artist's entire discography and absolutely love every single song on every single album before. Breaking Benjamin are the only exception to this! So much heart and talent goes into every song these guys make. Amazing.

Had to listen to it a few times to realise the sheer BRILLIANCE!
I had purchased the other 2 Breaking Benjamin albums(which are also amazing)before i purchused this one...so i knew what to expect. I was very dissapointed when i first listened to it because its slighty different from the other albums..but i gave it a chance and now it is one of my favourite albums at the moment! Every song is amazing but i think the best songs are "Water","Medicate",Shallow Bay". So for anyone who is interested in buying their first BB album then i would advise them to buy one of the other albums first. But this is still amazing!

A Yellow Brick Road That We Follow Back Home
There are very few albums i have ever bought where i can say that i completely enjoyed every track. This is one of the rare few which i did. This is a very well balanced album and most people should be able to find a song they like. The main genre is a kind of energetic heavy metal which is encompassed by most of the songs. However, there are a couple of gentler songs such as "Next to Nothing" and "No Games", whereas "Sugarcoat" and "Phase" are much more agro, for those people who like their rock heavier. Also, four of the tracks from Saturate were used to great effect in the videogame Run Like Hell, where their powerful riffs and out of the ordinary lyrics suited the tense atmosphere of the game perfectly. All four of these tracks "Polyamorous", "Water", "Home" and "Shallow Bay" are absolutely stunning and should not be missed, my personal favourite on this album being "Home". Tracks that also tend to jump out with their true potential are "Natural Life" and "Medicate". If you enjoy rock music, you really need this album, I only gave it 5 stars because Amazon wouldn't let me give it 10. Trust me, buy this, its great.

Melodic rock with screaming
After discovering this band and watching a few videos from their singles and some other songs I decided to listen to their albums in chronological order. The album has a few songs with explicit lyrics i.e. the F word thrown in. There is no explicit content label on it though for some reason. Maybe it wasn't compulsory for all record companies to include it in 2002. The opening songs starts with a heavy riff and Ben screaming so you know you're going to have to be prepared for some raw parts here! It's a pretty good but not brilliant song with the lyric `saturate' thrown in. Medicate has verses which are really somber and low toned but has the catchiest chorus on the album. This is the first time you may think that you could really like this band. It's great how music can go from such a slow dull sound to build up into this melodic catchy piece in the same song. It's the first of the 5 best songs on the album, with 4 best in a row. I also like how Ben sounds like he's singing in a Yorkshire accent too on this song! Polyamorous is another melodic and strong piece of music. Something that Breaking Benjamin do is have solid songs with strong lyrics and this debut is an interesting indication of that. Skin and Natural life are both melodic and solid sounding songs. Water is a good song with watery sounding vocals in the verses. Home is the final best song on the album. It's based on The Wizard of Oz with lyrics like `I'm gonna get you and your little dog too'. It's raw, powerful and has great meaning. Phase is a pretty good sounding song with a long intro of 1:30 with bongo drums in it and a raw outro. No games is an average sounding song and could be called a filler (if I dare!). Sugarcoat is the heaviest on the album where they have overdone their aggressiveness in my opinion with pure screaming in the chorus. The verse is quiet though. The final noted song has a solid feel to it but the explicit lyric in the chorus seems to spoil it for me. It has an interesting string piece in the outro. The bonus song is an average sounding acoustic song. Breaking Benjamin is like nothing I've heard before and their debut album is great with some very memorable and powerful songs. I also like the cell artwork the album has. It's different - both music and artwork.

Simple amazing
I first heard of Breaking Benjamin back in 2002 and having listened to acouple of their songs online, I decided to shell out the extra and get itimported back in March 2003. I've had the CD for a year now, and I haven'ttired of it. Each song has rung true for me along the way, and mynever-ending favourite song on the album has to be "Home". If you likeBlink 183, Three Days Grace or any other rock bands, Breaking Benjamin isfor you. Easy to listen to, and also easy to just plain rock out to.Although I paid more than it's currently going for, it's worth it. BUY IT!

Was soll man groß zu dieser CD sagen? Einfach Breaking Benjamin! (P.S.
