I want a printable disc that has a gloss finish and not a Matt finish

This type is matt only. I personally haven't come across any that are glossy.

Can someone tell me why amazon don't pack this properly and out of four packs two were scattered all over the box, scratched and unuseable?

Because they are under pressure to pack as quickly as possible.

Do these work with iMac? My computer won't burn onto them.

The iMac lets you burn DVDs both through the Finder and through iDVD, which is Apple's application for creating DVDs

Basic information missing -- what colour is the face? white or silver? addressed to the seller

The printable surface is matt white. I find this lends itself nicely to full colour, full face printing. With the right software you can produce highly professional looking discs. i've the digital quality to be very good. Having said that I always reduce the burning speed from maximum regardless of what discs I use.
