These are so useful in the home of an elderly relative who is having trouble remembering to switch things on or off. I have them on the tv and various lights around the house to come on and off at appropriate times, and they are not only saving money they are giving me peace of mind that the person wont be left in the dark, and also become upset during the night as they think people are in the house as they left the tv on. Such a safe and simple mechanical device, that is reliable, and proving to be invaluable to the persons quality of life. My version of a Smart home ;)

I wanted these plug timers to switch on my lamps whilst the winter nights were drawing in, so my dog wouldn't be left in complete darkness! They are very simple to program and have been 100% reliable. You can set the on/off times to denominations of 15 minutes and they have an off switch which allows the current run right through them, with no need to unplug. I was aware of existing reviews stating they are noisy; it’s true they do make some noise, but bear in mind these are mechanical devices, which keeps the cost down. The noise is quieter than a ticking clock, so I suggest if you can't tolerate that level of noise to buy a digital comparison. In conclusion, a great quick fix product which is competitively priced.

i like these better than the digital or " smart " timers as i inevitably lose the instructions and can never remember the 3 million buttons needed to reset them ! only issue with these, is if anything ends up shoved in the same cupboard and rubs on them the plastic cog inside wears or snaps . they are very cheap so its not the end of the world , i can fit them next to each other on my extension cable - work well , i have them on the fish tank turning lights on and off as well as an under counter light
