Very motivating and well-written
Very motivating.Perhaps nothing new, but written in a fantastic way that wants you to take action. He uses excellent and spot-on examples and quotes. I usually get Kindle books, but wanted this one physical to be able to flip through easily and dip in for inspiration.

Simple and very good
Saw this book somewhere online and bought out of curiosity and I am glade I read this- most of the things said in this book we already know them but the way author has said them make more sense in perspective and encourage us to share our work and after one month and after one year we will be surprised how much we have done and shared.

Just What I Needed
If you’re a procrastinating creative person, you’re going to love this book. I’m totally motivated to start sharing my thoughts and work that is or isn’t complete from now on. I like the idea that it’ll sometimes give me a kick up the backside or tell me to put the project on hold. I’m going to recommend this to anyone who has a creative bone in their body. I am looking forward to reading the other two books I picked up with this one. I chose to give it a five star rating because it definitely delivered on what I was expecting from beginning to the end. I will certainly be dipping into it again.

A Little Book of Generosity
Austin Kleon's last book "Steal Like An Artist" still sits on my "favourites shelf' beside my bed. Perversely, I'm glad I only gave it four stars, because this new one deserves even more. It's a thoroughly enjoyable and insightful take on the vexed subject of how to share one's creative work with the world at large. Highly recommended for those of us who think we'd quite like to "get our work out there" but are spooked by the whole idea of self-promotion. In fact, it's rather more than that - its guiding philosophy is about contribution and being a part of something bigger. Don't imagine that it's 'holier than thou', it's anything but. It's a funky little book, with a generous heart. It does assume, though, that 'getting the work out there' means getting it on the Internet. Austin, when you do a second edition, how about some thoughts on sharing work in the non-cyber world?

Useful, easy read
I have recently got the book, the first impression is great. It is easy to read and I have already found lots of useful bits. I think it is in a handy format that easily fits into my bag. Though it arrived with delay, I really appreciate the legendary amazon customer service(and the customer assisstant called Gaurav C) because after getting in touch with them(they called me back), I had received the book on the following day.

2.5 Clichés
Ok read, but you likely won’t learn anything new. Not worth buying, better get it from your library/Libby. Feeling generous so 2.5 rounding up to 3.

opens up some possibility
I’m in a different line of work, but some really good tips here about being generous with your process - being willing to say where you are and what you’re doing might not mean much to you, but it is a gift to others

Not Just for Artists
Fun, easy read. Learned a lot. I don't consider myself an artist, but I found it simple to bridge everything he wrote about to me. If you do ANY kind of creative work (and you probably do) this book can help you connect to your audience. This is the first book of his that I've read, even though I've followed his work for over a decade. Excited to read his other books.

A Practical and Enjoyable "How-to" Book for Artists
Mr. Kleon’s premise for the book is that artists do not need to actively self-promote. Instead an artist can create conditions where their work is findable. He believes the best approach to being findable is to generously share your work and, in particular, your process of working, with others. In a world of social media and the Internet, the barrier to establishing a place to share one’s work is low and therefore, quite doable for any artist. What I liked about his book is Mr. Kleon provides an approachable method for becoming findable. As I read through the pages, I felt his encouragement and permission to share; to put art out into the world. I particularly liked his advice about dealing with criticism: focus on feedback from the people who have done this type of work or from those people whose opinion you value and ignore the rest. The drawings and illustrations are unique and quirky, making the book a pleasure to read. He calls himself a writer who draws - which is an apt description. What did I dislike? Perhaps my criticism is more of a difference in opinion. As someone with a background in marketing, I disagree with Mr. Kleon when he says you should not ask for likes or for friends on social media. If the artist won't ask or at least invite people to look at their work, how can anyone know about what the artist does? Social currency in the form of "Like" or "Retweet" in social media is a powerful influencer. It means more people will come see the work. Creatives send invitations to book launches and art show openings all the time and not always to people they know. As Mr. Kleon notes it is not about becoming human spam but once in a while the artist should extend the invitation. Folks may not know there is a party going on if they are not invited. I’d recommend this book to anyone who does the hard work of creating art.

inspiring book on why to show your work
This is a simple but inspiring book on why to show your work. If you’re like me, a Gen-Xer… you were told: - Show your answers not your workings - Always put your best foot forward - Never show your weakness The world has changed, people want to know the the process, the behind the scenes, the outtakes and bloopers. A great little book to challenge one to show their work!
