It works great, but…
UPDATE II: After months of waiting for Chamberlain to fix the video delete function, they finally did it! I’m now VERY happy with ALL of my Chamberlain/MyQ devices and rate them 5 stars. I only hope the app developers learned a valuable lesson…IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT! UPDATE: my original post stands, and now for the reason I changed the rating to 2 stars: The software engineers and/or App developers put out a change to the already-working-just-fine MyQ App which removes the ability to BULK DELETE videos. You can only delete videos one-by-one, which, if you have 50, 100 or in my latest experience, well over a hundred recorded videos, you’ll spend 30-45 minutes or more, clearing videos from your storage account. The only other option is to delete them every single day, which is another pain in the burro. And here’s the kicker…Chamberlain has known for several months that this is a HUGE issue for users of their camera products, but has failed to fix the App in spite of too-numerous-to-count complaints on the App Store reviews. Chamberlain told me two months ago that they were aware of this problem and were working to resolve it. BULL! Two months later and it still isn’t fixed. All they had to do was issue another update, turning back the clock to the previous version. They aren’t fixing anything because, hey, they got their money for the cameras, so why fix anything? PREVIOUS REVIEW: This video keypad is fantastic in all respects but one, which I will address later in this review. Video quality is great, audio is crystal clear and easy to communicate with delivery people, etc. I’m glad I opted to upgrade from the basic keypad I’ve had for years. Setup was easy as well. Now for the shortcoming: although the battery lasts quite a long time (mine has been going for over 3 months before needing charging), it takes 10+ hours to recharge. That means no keypad or surveillance available all day (or night if you’re charging at night). And, to my knowledge and experience, the only way you’ll know the battery needs charging is a notification on your phone that the keypad is off line. To solve this issue, one must buy a second battery, keep it charged up, and swap batteries when the active one goes dead. That’s a $30 expense that I would rather have not had, but the alternative of no video surveillance and no keypad leaves no choice. And that’s why I gave this otherwise stellar device 4 stars instead of 5.

Don’t waste your time or money!
Okay, so set up was fairly easy, easy to switch out existing keypad. This is after you discover that you need to charge the battery for at least 10 hours. So after it was installed, I discovered that it does not work with Alexa or Google home. Seriously?! Appears that they failed to update the listing and web searches fail to mention that Chamberlain discontinued that service fairly recently. So you can only view from your phone. You can only get alerts from your phone . Wtf. So you will need to have your phone set up to receive notifications . Also , if you want to see past events you will need to buy a subscription. So you get a notification on your phone that there is motion , you open app, click on the icon and wait… nope nothing there… so what set off the motion? You may never know! ( even if you have the subscription you can only see up to a week worth and no way of downloading that I found) . Not a huge dealbreaker, I mainly wanted a new keypad and it’s nice that you can assign different codes for family members or temp codes for guests, repair persons etc. But here is where it all goes horribly wrong. I have only had this installed for a month!!! Battery life sucks big hairy monkey balls! It started off that I had to recharge the battery after a week. Listing said 6-12 months. So I contacted chamberlain. They said that I needed to adjust my motion sensitivity. It was already low and since I could never see what set off the alert anyway, I turned motion sensor off. Still had to charge the battery in less than a week. Called chamberlain again. They said it was because my wifi wasn’t strong enough. So I got a repeater so wifi to remote keypad 100%. 3 days later ( again, without any notification about battery low or dead) ( you only see an “unable to connect to keypad” when you open the app!! And it still doesn’t say dead battery it gives you 10 other things to check first!!!) Recharging battery is a PIA. You have to be out in the weather( think freezing rain and wind, heat, snow, etc.) you have to unscrew and remove from the keypad holder, remove the keypad, remove battery and charge for at least 10 hours then hook it all back up and reconnect wifi, reconfigure all settings, codes, adjust the camera … everything!!. Chamberlain states that the warranty does not cover the battery and suggests buying a new one . Which costs MORE than the whole damn thing. So… just another present for the landfill! I will never buy another thing from chamberlain as they do not stand behind their products!

If it loses WiFi, it won't open your garage. Video subscription is expensive.
When I found out it requires uninterrupted WiFi and Internet access to even open the door, I also had to try several times over the first week to get the WiFi settings to stick. It kept going offline. I almost returned it. I'm replacing a Liftmaster/Chamberlain dumb keypad, which doesn't require Internet. We don't lose Internet often, but we do have frequent guests, landscapers, propane delivery etc. I also gave a code to the local police & fire stations, so I need it to work. Second, the subscription prices are ok for one video keypad, but very high for two or more. I'm reconsidering that. Check it out before you buy this. That said, I still give this five stars. It's well made, also replaces a Ring Doorbell, so I won't have that subscription to pay. From my research, there really isn't a better option.

Overall, pretty cool device, but...
Easy to install, but you'll need a standard 110v plug, ideally with decent line of sight to the garage door. Color camera is decent too. The really cool thing is the app. You can get amazon in-garage delivery, set temp codes for guests, and if you're really O-C, you can double check that your garage door is really closed right from your restaurant table. And if you have Wi-Fi, you can open and close your garage door from your balcony in Puerto Vallarta. The bad news: The (removable) rechargeable battery life is really poor. It'll go dead on you without warning, and you'd best have another way into the house in that event ( such as a regular garage door opener, or a key). Maybe a couple months on a charge (with light usage, once you outgrow the novelty), then overnight to recharge. Still, no regrets.

Great Opener
Very happy with this opener. It was easy to set up and simple to operate. It loiks much better than our older model. Definately recommend.

Has a potential, but needs serious improvement
This video keypad looks nice and it's easy to install and program. However, the battery life is very short and the video feed takes a long time to load ,and the worst part is the wifi reception by the video keypad. If you don't have at least two bars on your wifi signal appearing on the video feed, don't expect the video feed to work reliably. Low wifi signal not only causes the inconsistent video functions but also depletes battery a lot faster. During one week of setting up this video keypad, I had to remove the battery and recharge for 8 hours already. When the keypad was initially connected to myQ garage door, programmed and set up inside the garage, it seemed everything worked. As soon as the keypad was mounted outside the frame of my garage door, no video, keypad worked, however. It says "oh no! something went wrong, etc." Sometimes it works, but most of time it's off-line. Even though the video is on-line, it will be off-line again after coming back from checking keypad settings on the video feed. After a few days of reset and changing my router position and antennae, inconsistent connection and video feeds problem still continued. My router is a relatively recent model and is located directly above the keypad and the distance is only a one-story high, 8 to 10 feet maybe. Changing placement positions of router and antenna didn't make any difference. Finally, I decided to buy a wifi extender and plugged into an outlet just opposite side of a wall where the video keypad is mounted. Now, the video feed has three bars of wifi signal strength and reasonably steady. Occasionally, the keypad video still goes off-line. It takes about 5 to 7 seconds for the video feed loads on the screen compared to 2 to 3 seconds of myQ garage camera. In summary, this video keypad has a potential to be a good security device for your home, but needs some improvements. I am listing pros and cons of this video keypad from my experience. Pros: 1. Looks nice 2. Easy to install and set up. 3. Video quality is good. 4. It provides security by monitoring your driveway. Cons: 1. Wifi performance is not good unless a router or extender is nearby. 2. Video feed takes long time. 3. Battery life is short. It seems recharging is needed every 2 -3 weeks. 4. Video keypad will be out of commission while the battery is being recharged. 5. Cost of the battery is $35.00 plus $5.00 shipping 6. In order to recharge, you have the remove the mounting screw and take out the battery. 7. Audio quality is rather terrible. I turn speaker off in my video feed. 8. Night vision is not good. 9. Recharging takes about 8 hours. 10. Replacement battery is available only through the myQ direct. 11. Spare battery not available to purchase at the Amazon together with the video keypad. 12. Person and motion detection is inconsistent. 13. Video storage cost $$ and needs a subscription.

Quality/ looks /design
I love the fact that it looks very nice sleek. It has a protective cover on it..The recording and quality is very good and clear ..The notifications is on time there is one but you have to have a subscription after the trial is over which I totally think with a camera like this they should offer a better Free/Cheaper plan if you ask me because it's recording but it's going into my cloud or database or storage it's not like it's being monitored by anyone else. It should be part the camera or it should be free if you have Amazon prime due to the fact that this work with Amazon delivery...

Video Keypad has a serious shortcoming.
I did not actually install this Video Keypad due to what i consider a problem of charging the battery and the cost of a spare battery. (see additional info below) Reading over the the install instruction prior to install it tells me that the battery can take up to 10 hours to charge. OK is is not optimal, but I can just get a spare. Not so simple. A search of the manufactures website seem to be impossible to find. So I go to google and do a search, not easy but I eventually find the part number and a dealer who sells it. The quoted price is $55 +shipping. Now the Video Keypad sells for $90. This just seems like the dealer ripping of end users. I go back to the Manufactures web site and go to support chat. I talk to a vey helpful agent, but my question was not a simple one apparently. The poor agent had to spend the best part of an hour finding the correct part and then he tried to get a price. the only way to get a price was to try ordering it. Unfortunately the battery is out of stock and it could not even be put on backorder apparently do to long lead time. So I have no idea of what it would cost, and I can't even order one if I wanted to. It is not available from anyone other than the manufacturer. While I have no idea how will it works I just do not feel it is a product I am willing to use if every few months when the battery needs to be charged, I have to have it off line for 10 hours. That is just unacceptable for me. 10 hours would likely be the best case time since I would have to take it offline, connect it to a USB charge then wait for 10 hours, which I will not likely sit around watching it, so it would likely end up the next day before I would get it back online. January 14.2024. Well I'm adding to my Review. I did actually order one of these a second time. I found that I could get a spare battery and order one of those as well. I ordered this again because I really liked the features even if they are limited. I can't say I am willing to upgrade my star rating at this point. I installed the second one the first part of November 2023. ( FYI I live in the central Midwest of the US) Like I said I really do like some of the features. Once I figured out that I could set up more than two uses, even tech support was confused on how to do this. I was mostly satisfied with the keypad. Initially I had to swap out the batter every 3 weeks or so. Not optimal but I was willing to work with it. As time went on the battery change interval kept getting shorter and shorter. I even moved one of my Mesh WIFi access points to within 10 feet of the keypad, but still inside my garage. This did move the WiFi signal strength shown on the app to Fair. What prompted me to update this review was todays newest issue. As most would know from national weather reports, most of the US is in the deep freeze. Today the overnight low on my own weather station showed -9 F. I sort of figured that this would cause the battery to not work well, but I hoped that changing the battery might bring it back to life. No such luck with the keypad still out in the cold, it had warmed up to -3 F by this time. I have the keypad inside now on my desk and I am waiting to see if it comes back to life as it warms up. It's at least 20 minutes and it is still unresponsive. (note: it just came on, it has been about 40 minutes now) I have suggestions for the engineers who are hopefully working on V2 of the keypad. 1. Have some way to power it from another source, I would suggest possibly an optional battery-pack that is not a battery, but has a flat ribbon cable coming out of the base of the unit. Flat cables are easier to slip under the overhead doors side molding and then an AC to DC power supply could be inside the garage and totally eliminate the need for battery charges/changes. 2 An option other than #1 could be a solar charger. it could be a separate piece with a longer cable so it could be mounted for best solar collection. 3. Pick components that can tolerate sub-zero temps. I have five Wyze cameras around the outside of my house, in the same temps as the keypad, and they are all working fine. Two of them are indeed battery powered but with solar panels to keep them charged. 4. Have a better WiFi antenna, I would suggest that almost all garage doors are outside and not exactly close to a homes WiFi router.
