Great Company with Fantastic Product that is Lots of Fun!
I liked this company when all they offered me were some fancy lighting options. I didn't care for the fact that I couldn't buy extra extensions (rope without lights), and I didn't care for the fact that I couldn't buy extra control units (the piece that allows the user to connect with wifi/bluetooth), but I took a chance and bought this product anyway, and I love it. I did spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to get the lights up on my house without it being too obvious and I recommend everyone else know how they are going to go up before starting. Luckily, for me, I figured out a solution that worked with 8 segments. If I wanted to use the 9th segment, then I would need an extension or to run an extension cord, which I didn't want to do, so I just opted to use 8 segments. Also, the lights are low-profile enough that it isn't noticeable that decorative lights are up permanently (my HOA is kinda picky), and they look great. I get compliments on them all the time. I enjoy all the options for holidays, seasons, scenes, timing and/or advanced scheduling (turning on lights at sunset), functionality, working in time with music, options for creating scenes to make multiple products work together, etc., etc., etc. Honestly, there is so much functionality that it is almost overwhelming - even if you're a techie/nerd like me. Seriously, it seems like they thought of almost everything. My kids absolutely LOVE playing with the phone app when connected to the outside lights. There were more than a few nights where you could have caught us outside randomly clapping, yelling, or singing because of the voice/music activation. Quite fun to play with, actually. And, like I said, I liked this company when all they offered were fancy lights, but this year, just less than a year after buying these specific lights, they completely stopped responding to connection with my phone. After two or three back and forth messages with customer help (also in the app), they sent me an ENTIRE NEW SET. All I wanted was a new control segment and I would have been good, but they sent me an entire new set. I was blown away. I didn't have to "fight" the company like I have done with other companies. (I am fair, but if a product says it does something, it better do it; otherwise, that company will hear from me.) I highly recommend Govee and their lighting products. I have two nightlights for my kids, two or three sets of outdoor neon rope lights, and now 2 sets of outdoor permanent lights, and I love and use them all. And every product I own can all be found, maintained, and manipulated through the same app. I will note that Govee products are quite a bit pricier than what I'm normally comfortable paying for something like this, but, as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for," and Govee is one of the best, if not the best when it comes to lighting solutions. Every time I look through their catalog, I find 5 more things that I "have to have". And, honestly, once everything is said and done, are they really that much more? I mean, I have bought the same 50 feet of Christmas lights many years in a row because they stop working, but these lights are permanent and long lasting, so, really, are you spending more?

Just what I always wanted
I bought these to replace some string lights that we had that stopped working last year. I figured I would make one big purchase to get high quality lights that I'll never have to mess with again, at least not while I live in this house. Installation: Make sure you use alcohol to clean and dry the spot you're about to stick the lights before you stick them up and they hold up pretty well. I've heard that the adhesive can fail in humid climates (on reddit so take that with a grain of salt) so I downloaded a 3D print file for a bracket that allows you to screw them to the soffit instead of just relying on the adhesive. If you live in a normally dry climate then you may not have any problems. I haven't had any problems yet, but I'd rather be proactive with what could potentially go wrong. If you have a porch and you're putting the lights along the front of the eave of the porch then just the one 12ft extension that's included for going between floors won't be enough. See below. The app: The app is super easy to use and adding or editing the lights is very easy to do in the app. You can rely solely on the app or you can use Alexa/Google to control the lights (minimally) as well. To change the color or set specific lights up you have to use that app but if you just want to turn the lights off or on then you can use Alexa for that. The lights: The lights themselves are very bright and well built. They don't feel like they are going to fall apart or break. One complaint: The one complaint that I had is that in the 100ft string there is one "jumper" to go from one floor to the next. It's a section that's about 12 feet long that has no lights. That didn't work for me because I have a porch and put the lights at the front edge of the porch. I would have needed 2 of the extensions in order to get to the second floor with no lights on the side of the house. Yyou can't just buy the extension from Govee either. If you want another extension you have to take to eBay and hope someone is selling one they didn't need in order to buy one. People are charging upwards of $70 just for that one piece because they know they are so hard to come by. If you have a porch, I recommend just buying the 150-foot string and planning to either keep spares of the lights or sell the strands that you don't use to recoup some of your costs. Alternatively you can do what I did and just put lights facing outward that go up the side of the house. Other than that, everything was great.

Best investment! Do not hesitate!
Are these lights an investment? They sure are! But I am telling you, they are 100% worth it! Why did we buy them? Before we invested in these, putting up our holiday lights was always a dreaded task. We live in the midwest which means we were always balancing trying to get the lights up before it gets too cold and snowy and putting them out too early. Who wants holiday lights up in September? Then there's the fact of having to take them down after the holidays... do we risk my husband sliding off the roof in the snow and ice or do we leave up until April? If your doing the math, that means our old lights could be up for half the year- no thank you! Enter Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights! I am telling you, these lights are absolutely the best! * Installation could not have been more straight forward * The connectivity to the app was easy * The app is very user friendly and straight-forward * We have had these lights up for two years and still going strong * They can be used year-round * Fantastic Customer service * Year round use * For us, they are also used for safety and security year round * The combination of use options is vast * The light strands virtually disappear on the house Full transparency, we did have an issue with one of the strands malfunctioning about a year later. I called Govee explained what was happening, they asked my to send a video of it happening. They literally asked for nothing else and without hesitation, they sent me a new $250.00 strand of lights! AND, I had them by the end of that week! I mentioned safety and security and year-round use in my review- allow me to explain. Our house does not have accent lighting built in to the soffits, so when our lights are not used for a festive reason (holidays, birthdays, etc.) we have them set as accent lighting. They illuminate the outside of our house in key places such a walkways, corners and the driveway. We love the fact they are on a timer that is controlled in the app. No more leaving the porch or garage lights on all day and night. We live in a neighborhood without street lights, it can get really dark! We no longer have to remember to turn on the outside lights if we have a visitor coming over. I can also go into the app and adjust the timer based on the time of the year. In the winter when it's dark by 5:00 pm, my lights come on at 4:45. In the summer when it's light until 9:30, I set the lights to come on at say 9:15. I do adjust the time a few times a year to keep up with daylight and darkness. It literally takes me less than 5 minutes in the app. I could go on and on about what I love about these lights! As I said at the start of this review, yes these lights are a hefty investment, especially if you have a lot of roofline like we do, but I am telling you, these lights have been one of our best investments! Another factor that we considered when deciding to invest in the Govee lights was the amount of money we were spending on replacement lights after the weather had taken a toll on the strands year after year. Then there's the fact we could never find the exact set we needed to replace a set, which would then ensue replacing many strands at a time. It was a never ending cycle of frustration. These lights put an end to all of that! Now, the only thing we have to think about it, what day do we want to open the app and click on our holiday lights! Which brings me to another point in the set up. You can get as creative as you want with them and create your own pattern of lighting, by selecting your own coloring, flashing or not, if you want flashing what flashing pattern do you want and etc. or you can choose from preset options. We do a combination of these options. For our year-round accent lighting we opted to create our own so that we could turn on white lights in the desired areas we needed accent lighting (which can be a set once and then just turned on and off- you do not have to re-create it each time you want to use it) For the holidays we select from one of the preset options- it just depends what look we are going for that year- maybe it's a multicolored gingerbread look one year and then next year it might be a classic white light that is flashing. The options are vast! Sure, there are all kinds of technical aspects that I could review, but if you want that information I would suggest you read the specs directly from Govee- they are the experts on that. I am here to tell you these lights are the real deal from an actual user! They are as great as advertised! Do not hesitate to add them to your home.

Solid Product! I love the look. But here's a few tips to keep in mind.
The Govee permanent outdoor lights are definitely the best product I've found. The company seems excellent and thoughtful with their design. And after trying six other smart-lights, I’ve landed on Govee as my go-to brand: But, my two takeaways would be this: (1). The lights depend on double-sided adhesive stickers to work. And, even if your surface is perfect for such stickers (like metal), they will inevitably unstick. So, be sure use the additional clips. (2). The lights were wisely designed with a wide-angle type lens to them…which is clever. But, if you install them within 12 inches of your wall, it creates a gingerbread/bubble look across the top of your roofline…which is cute for Christmas. But, year-round, it looks terrible. So, consider buying plastic corner brackets (right angle braces) that enable you to mount the lights further away from the wall at a downward angle (see pic). The lights not only attached more securely, but, they created a significantly brighter wash effect over the entirety of my wall (see pic)… causing the lights to be twice as bright and wash a much greater portion of the wall. The look was so dramatically better that I wondered: “Why doesn’t Govee recommend this as standard?” But, then I realized: (A). It’s a more complex install as it requires screws and plastic brackets & (B). Not everyone has a 2 to 4 foot eave / soffit. Some houses have extremely tight over-hangs. Thus, they probably have to recommend a “straight down and close to the wall” install even though it’s not ideal. Lastly, after a lengthy install, I discovered there was a strip of lights that didn’t go on! I almost lost my marbles and turned into Clark Griswald. But, in the end, the lights were fine. It was a simple Bluetooth proximity issue (I needed to stand closer to the lights while connecting them to the app). But all is well. And when I added up how much I spent on replacing Christmas lights every year (and the time to put them up), these Govee lights are worth every penny! I definitely love my Govee lights.

Great lights, BUT.....
These are gorgeous. I've had a set up on the front of my house for 2 years now and they still look great. They light up beautifully, were pretty easy to install and the app to control them is pretty decent. However- one thing makes no sense. I decided recently to wrap these lights all the way around my roof line. I have them now all the way across the front, but bought more stands to wrap all the way around the rest of the house. I bought the 100 ft strand for the front and it came out perfect. The rest of my house is a length of about 200 ft, so I bought 2 strands of 100 ft. Before purchasing, I asked the company if I could power all strands of 200 feet on one power source. The response was I can connect up to 9 segments. That didn't answer my question because since I'm already familiar with these lights, I know that the app refers to each 'section' (each part of the light strand that plugs into the next section) as a 'segment'. So, using that term, that meant only 9 small sections could be plugged into one power source before you need another outlet to power the rest of the strand. (I'm calling a strand 1 box of segments- how they arrive connected when you order them). It had been awhile since I hung my first set of lights, so I didn't remember how many 'segments' were in one order. I explained this to the company and asked "does this mean several STRANDS of segments can be plugged together from one power source?" And their answer was yes. I learned today that that's NOT true. The original instructions are accurate- 9 'segments' can be connected together max. But, not 9 STRANDS. So each box of lights from this company contains 3 segments. So to me that means 3 segments make up one strand. Here's the problem: if you order 2 sets of lights like I did, and there are 3 segments per strand and two strands per order, that's 6 segments in an order. Your second order will have another 6 segments. But that means only half of that order will be able to be connected. 6 segments +3 segments (half of an order) = 9. So that means the entire last strand of lights in your second order (3 segments worth) can't be connected. They'd have to have their own power supply. Only a few segments being able to be connected is fine, but then they should pack the boxes of lights where that makes sense. So now I have to find a way to power just the last 50 feet of my 200 feet of lights. It just doesn't make any sense. If they upgrade the lights to let you link at least an even number of segments of a set of lights in an order, then these would be 5 star worthy.

Absolutely stunning and easy.
I can’t say enough good things about these permanent outdoor lights! From the moment they were installed, they’ve added an entirely new level of character to our home. The aesthetic is simply amazing, and it completely transforms the look of our house, especially at night. The vibrant color options and dynamic effects have made our home the highlight of the block, and my family absolutely loves them. What really stands out is how much fun the lights have brought to our gatherings. My friends, family, and especially my children are all obsessed with the different colors and effects. The ease of changing the colors and the ability to adjust settings via the app makes it so much fun to personalize the ambiance for different occasions. The app itself is fantastic—super user-friendly with a clean interface that makes controlling the lights a breeze. Installation was a walk in the park. The adhesive strips made it so easy to stick the lights in place, and the smaller sections were easy to handle. I did take the extra precaution of using some clips in addition to the adhesive, especially since it was colder when I installed them and we get pretty strong winds here in the country. I wanted to make sure they were securely mounted and wouldn’t have any issues down the road, and the clips worked great for added peace of mind. The lights themselves are incredibly durable and hold up well against the elements. I’ve had no problems with them despite the weather challenges, and they continue to shine brightly and perform flawlessly. Overall, I’m thrilled with the purchase! These lights have truly elevated the look and feel of our home, and they’ve been a hit with everyone who sees them. If you’re looking for an easy, stunning way to upgrade your home’s exterior, I highly recommend these permanent outdoor lights.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience with Govee
I am writing this review to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service experience I have had with Govee regarding my recent purchase. On November 30, 2023, I contacted Govee customer support to report an issue with the power adapter for my lights. The lights stopped working just 10 minutes after installation. The response from the support team, initially from Cy and later from Sam, seemed promising, requesting additional information and a video demonstrating the problem. However, the frustration began when I encountered difficulties uploading the video. Despite my efforts and multiple attempts with various formats, the issue persisted. I was then provided with a link that ultimately did not resolve the problem. The lack of a seamless process for submitting necessary evidence was already a source of frustration. The communication from the support team continued, with troubleshooting steps provided by Sam, including unplugging and replugging the adapter, resetting the power button, and ensuring the correct number of lights were selected. Despite following these steps, the problem persisted. I expressed my urgency in receiving a resolution, as I have two additional Govee light strips installed and was eager to continue using their products. Finally, on December 3, 2023, Melinda from Govee Support assured me a new power cord would be sent for free. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when, after days of waiting, I inquired about a tracking number for the shipment on December 12, 2023. The response from Sharon was unsatisfactory, mentioning the shipment would take 5-7 business days but failing to provide a tracking number. On December 12, 2023, Joy offered an alternative solution, suggesting a replacement product from Amazon. I agreed, hoping for a quicker resolution. However, the subsequent request for my contact information, which had already been provided multiple times during the conversation, felt redundant and added unnecessary delays. My frustration reached a boiling point on December 14, 2023, when, after weeks of back-and-forth, delays, and unmet promises, I expressed my disappointment with the entire process. The lack of efficiency, unnecessary requests for information already provided, and the overall delay in resolving a seemingly simple issue have left me thoroughly dissatisfied with Govee's customer service. Despite the final assurance that a replacement has been sent, it is regrettable that it took over two weeks of constant follow-ups and repeated requests to reach this point. This experience has been unacceptable, disrespectful, and reflects poorly on a company that should prioritize customer satisfaction. In conclusion, my interaction with Govee's customer support has been one of the most frustrating and time-consuming experiences I have ever had with a company. I hope that Govee takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving its customer service processes to ensure a more positive experience for future customers.

Excellent lighting for outside home
MOUNTING: Let me get this out of the way first - be very careful with what day you install these! The weather needs to be perfect around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit and low humidity. If you try to install them in cooler weather the sticky pads will not get sticky, and if you try to install them in warmer & more humid weather the sticky pads will not stick. I spent two hours putting all the lights up using the pads when it was 90 degrees outside & 80% humidity (Louisiana weather). Within 12 hours, the pads had released from my roof. I ended up purchasing an additional set of mounting brackets from Amazon which screw in. It took me 4 hours instead of 2 to install, but I know for a fact they will not be coming down again. AESTHETICS These lights are very fun to look at. I installed them about 1.5" from my wall and they give very bright 8" triangles of light under each light. They look very similar to large Christmas lights. If you're looking for more of a "flood of color" on your exterior wall, then you will want to mount them about 3"-4" away from the wall. FUNCTION: OK, look the app sucks. It's the worst part of the whole system. The system works great, the dusk to dawn function is cool, the ability to set schedules for different light colors through the year is cool, design your own lighting schemes (I did a Pac-Man theme for Halloween). It's awesome. But just be prepared to spend a lot of time figuring out the app. It is not intuitive and is really suited to the 12-25 yo crowd. Anyone older is going to look at it and just be lost. OVERALL: I love these lights. I don't know anything about longevity yet, I've only had them up a couple of months but they have been a blast to use. I highly recommend them.

Wonderful permanent lights! Wow!
Love these. Expensive but worth the price. Even had people knock on my door after dark commenting how bright they are. Install of 150 ft. took about 3 hours with wifes help. 3MAdhesives are very secure on soffits and endured -45c temps over a Canadian winter. App is very intuitive and has a lot of options. As a bonus I can stop and start the lights with mu Amazon Echo 8s

Worth the price tag!
I’m absolutely in love with my Govee permanent Christmas lights! These lights have taken my holiday decorations to a whole new level—no more hanging and rehanging strings of lights every year. Once they’re installed, they stay up year-round and can be used for any occasion, not just Christmas. The installation was surprisingly easy, and the app-controlled feature is a game-changer. I can adjust the colors, brightness, and even set timers directly from my phone. Whether I want classic white for a cozy winter vibe or a full spectrum of festive colors, the options are endless. Plus, the lights are bright but not overpowering, and they create such a beautiful ambiance both inside and outside. What I love most is the durability—these lights are designed to last. They’re weather-resistant, so even with rain or snow, they stay intact and continue to shine bright. If you’re looking for a hassle-free way to have year-round festive lighting or need a show-stopping display for the holidays, Govee’s permanent Christmas lights are definitely worth it! Rating: 5/5 – Brilliant lighting that keeps on giving, season after season!

A Game Changer for Outdoor Lighting
I’ve been using the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights (RGBIC, 100ft) for almost two years now and they have been a total game changer for my home. The installation was straightforward and once they’re up, you never have to worry about putting up or taking down lights again. I use the white lighting mode every day as regular outdoor lighting, and it looks clean and bright around the house. When holidays come around, switching to colors and scenes through the app is incredibly easy. From Christmas to Halloween and other celebrations, the lighting effects really make the house stand out. The app has lots of scene modes and customization options, and the lights have been very reliable through all kinds of weather. Being able to control everything from my phone or with voice assistants is a big bonus. After using them daily and for every holiday for the past couple of years, I can honestly say this is one of the best home upgrades I’ve made. I absolutely love them and highly recommend them.

House lights everyone needs!
These lights are a must have! No more climbing up and down a ladder to change out the season or paying for multiple coloured lights for the different holidays. Yes it is a bit of a cost to purchase but so worth it! Installing the lights are super easy unless maybe if you have high peaks. They have a 3m sticker on each light when installing so you can stretch the cord out and stick the light in its position and then there is a little clip you can screw in to give extra support. So many colour options to choose from and light motions using the app on your phone. I have had these lights for a few years now and still operating perfectly. Put on a timer and forget about them.
