Great little car tracker if GPS not important
If you don't need full GPS functionality, then this is for you. Much neater and more compact than GPS equivalents, it works well up to at least 150 metre range. It may work further, but my moggie doesn't go that far from us anyway, as I have found out by using this gadget. Actually, it has been most useful when trying to find her around the house for cattery and vet trips!

Fantastic product
Fantastic so far. One cat does lose collars regularly so got a chance to test it out. Found it easily, rather than the 3 lost with location tags never to be found again. Also very neat and light. Highly recommend.

Decent, but could do with more range
So we used to have some 'Tractive' GPS trackers for our cats - very fancy and everything, but the fact they used to run out of battery every day or two made them very inconvenient. I haven't tried Airtags - but got these instead. They basically use a 'homing device' type idea, the bleeper gets faster as you point towards and get closer to your cat. They work up to about 50/100m, which is alright for our usage. I suppose if your cat was lost, you'd walk the streets until you got a signal and then home in on it. This works well enough to find our cats in ours and surrounding gardens. Plus we found when you press the button, it makes the collar do a ticking noise - our cat has started returning home when it hears that. The biggest drawback in the range, i guess it wouldn't be so great in larger spaces?

Well worth it!
So I thought I would wait a while before reviewing, at least until I had some idea of if they worked in practice. Initially we had a few issues programming the tags but once we had figured it out they have been excellent. We started off hiding them in the house to test them, found them easily every time. Then I had a real test today when my cat had actually lost the collar itself ( not the actual cat thank goodness). It took me to my neighbours (behind) garden, which I didn’t think my cat had even been in and there it was..! Really confident now on finding the cats if they are lost. As I have two cats the two collars in the pack are a great deal. A friend has a GPS version and she lost her cat the other day and couldn’t find her cat as it went out of signal… no such issue with these!

Utterly useless.
I lost my cat two weeks ago after he was run over in the street and ran into a neighbouring garden, and have been unable to find him despite sweeping every garden in a two square mile area with the TabCat tracker. The irony is that he had a GPS tracker before but I swapped it out for the TabCat because it was a couple of grams lighter. I thought I was doing him a kindness, instead my decision has probably caused his death; if he had had the GPS tracker at the time of the accident I would have been able to narrow down the search area within a few hours.

A bit too big.
This would be fine for a large cat but is too big for my cat who only weighs 3.8kg. His neck is only 20cm. The device itself seems to work in open spaces but has problems near buildings and trees.

Lightweight, easy to use & effective
Fabulous tracker. Very pleased with the ease of use and how accurate it is. The tab that attaches to my cats collar is not too big either & weighs very little.

Already paid for itself
We seem to have the only cat in the world without a sense of direction. After multiple instances of our cat, Radish, going missing and having to be found and brought home we ordered Tabcat after doing a bit of research. We initially chose Tabcat over other brands due to its discreet size, having quite a small cat. Well the day after we programmed it Radish went missing. Initially he was out of range but we walked down the road a bit and was then able to follow the tracker to his location. I was really impressed with the accuracy of Tabcat. He actually got into the bonnet of a car and was sitting on the warm engine. I would have never have found him otherwise because he was completely out of sight, but because we were sure of his location we knocked on the owner of the cars door and got him to pop the bonnet. This has really made life a lot less stressful for us. We were previously considering putting Radish under permanent house arrest which would have been a nightmare for everyone as he’s slightly wild and loves the outdoors, and now we don’t have to.

Excellent product - works great
I have had excellent success with this product on my two cats. I have always been able to find them, even when they are hiding in a stone out building. Easy to use and set up. I have not had any issues with the battery going dead yet, and I have used it many times. Not too big for on their collars either. I recommend this for sure. **I have not tried to use it for extended meters. I have used it for up to 50 meters.

Works very well (minor fixable issue encountered and general context below)
We've had the Tabcat for two months and it's been mostly rock solid. Range/context: Our cat wanders very far (sometimes 200+ meters in suburbs) so we did not expect this tracker to locate him without looking around a bit and it cannot but that's fine. There are sometimes multiple houses and yards in the way and a short walk around the neighbourhood is all it takes to get a signal if we ever need to locate him. A few times every day, we turn on the tracker to find out if our cat is in the area. Instead of looking for him and worrying, we instantly know if he's within calling distance and in what direction. It's a huge relief when your cat hasn't been around for more than a couple hours. Battery life: So far, considering we've been tracking the tag multiple times per day every single day for two months, the battery life is pretty good both for the tracker and for the tag. GPS trackers don't come close to this. Form factor: Our cat isn't a small cat so keep that in mind, but the tag isn't in the way at all. We use it with the protective case because otherwise it's not water resistant but our cat doesn't seem to notice it. Again, much less bulky than the GPS trackers tend to be. Issue encountered: One issue appeared after a few weeks where the tracker more and more would beep for a good second when we pressed the button to track the tag instead of tracking it but it turns out the casing is flexible enough that we were pressing with our index fingers on the battery door behind the tracker while pressing the button with our thumb and this was enough to move the battery inside off of one contact, restarting the tracker. After adding a small paper shim on top of the battery, it has worked 100% of the time. This could be fixed by making the back casing thicker or by lessening the Z space in the battery compartment. The manual recommends a GP389 battery which is a bit thinner than the CR2032 that came with the unit so I'm not sure why there's enough room for the battery to shift but considering how easy it was to fix, I'm still recommending the product wholeheartedly.
