Which Version of This Stratocaster Guitar To Buy? If you are new to guitar and interested in playing rock you should buy the Humbucker (HSS) Version of this guitar because it will allow you to play overdrive / distortion sounds better. The humbucker is the pickup at the bottom of the guitar near the bridge (where the strings go into the guitar) and you will see TWO rows of 6 metal magnet dots instead of just one row (called a "Single Coil"). It is a great starter set for $100-$150 with everything to start learning. Everything was better than I expected at this price point. Here are some examples: • Amp can be used as Bluetooth speaker • Amp has a headphone jack so you can practice without bothering people • Comes with a second set of strings • The humbucker pickup is powerful enough to allow "palm mute" playing • There is a bit of cushioning in the bag (see picture) What else should you consider buying eventually? • A set of brand name strings will help it sound better for cheap. Look for size .009-.042 gauge. (~$9) • More pics in a variety of thicknesses to see what feels best to you. This should be only a few dollars. (~$6) • Longer guitar cord because it can be nice to move around the room. (~$15) • A softer strap that can a couple hold picks like the Lekato (~$20) • Locking guitar strap nuts to keep the strap on (~$5) • The next BIG purchase, a Spark Go or Spark 50 amp because it comes with an app that will make your guitar sound like the different ones in your favorite songs. ($120-$350) • Then you are ready for the next level of guitar! Criticisms • Mine has wood knot in the back of the neck at the 3rd fret which is distracting while playing (see picture). Even in an inexpensive guitar this should have failed quality control. • Frets hang outside of the fret board a little bit. This is known as "fret sprout". I experienced it in a humid climate so it would be worse in a dry climate or winter. This be addresses with a file. Be sure use tape around the fretboard before filing to not scratch the guitar. • One of the strings broke after a couple with only gentle use. Not significant since strings are inexpensive and it came with a second set. • Pics are not "standard" format, but instead thicker at the base. This might be easier to learn with but takes a moment of adjustment for experienced players. • Tuners (pegs at the top) are really loose which causes it to fall out of tune. Maybe they can be tightened down with a small screwdriver. What makes this different than a more expensive guitar? If you are new to guitar and wondering what a more expensive guitar offers here are some of the differences: • smoother finish so your hand slides better on the neck • tight tuners (knobs at the top) to keep the guitar in tune • more sensitive pickups that will bring out more parts of the tone • better springs for consistent bending of the vibrato bar • better electronics giving clearer signal to the amp, precisely cut frets (the metal pieces) that sit within the fretboard I wrote this without the help of AI, so forgive it being unpolished. Absolutely love this guitar for my son! The color pops, the tuning is simple, and the functionality is perfect for a beginner. It’s durable, fun to play, and an overall great starter guitar.

it was great and functional

A great value at $100. Should prob replace the strings and the amp isn’t loud at all—but that was by design (by me), because I didn’t want my daughter to blast us all out of the house. Plus, I was price shopping. A cute set that works as intended—to let ‘em riff a little, and not take down the house.

I’m no pro or anything, but I can say that this guitar sounds pretty good for being so cheap. The tiny amp sounds like a tiny amp, but if you’re just practicing at home it’s certainly better than no amp at all; plus, it has a built-in clean/distortion switch and a gain knob so you can tinker with the sound a little. The only thing that I don’t like about this is that for ONE of the strings (G string) I simply cannot fix the intonation no matter how much I adjust the saddle. When the string is played open it’s fine, but the second I play any fret, the intonation goes out of whack. This could be an isolated incident, but do your research and scour the reviews for other related issues. Aside from the intonation issue, this is a decent buy for the price point. BUT… you might be happier if you spent just a little more on something like a Squier Sonic.

Bought for grandson’s 8th grade graduation & it was a hit! His first guitar

This guitar has great sound quality. It was super easy to tune and to set up for the first time I played it. I’m still getting used to the amp but so far it has amazing sound quality as well. The whole kit has been super useful and amazing to have.

My Granddaughter went wild over this guitar and it writing her own songs. Her first video to me was so fun to watch and her first original song was titled "The Elevator - Slinky Song". I can't wait for her Second. The guitar is flashy Rockstar Blue and the amplifier is loud enough to satisfied her. Need I say more?
