Walking Dead Book 1: 01

The Walking Dead enters it newest season soon and its popularity is currently soaring at the moment. With the release of spin-offs, video games and possibly a walking dead movie on the grapevine, why not revisit where it all started - with these fantastic graphic novels. Firstly, let me say these require some imagination. They are not carbon copies of the television series - though alot of it does align - but you will vastly enjoy seeing your favourite scenes and characters hand drawn to perfection in these novels. The drawings are amazingly detailed, and really portray the horror and dilemma that our main character, Rick, finds himself in. After waking in a hospital, nobody can be found. The streets are deserted, cars are abandoned everywhere and buildings lay dormant like the world was uninhabitable. That is until - to his horror - Rick finds the dead reanimated and after his skin - literally! The graphic novels display great skills by the illustrators and the story edges along nicely - I have read all of the graphic novels and have really enjoyed them. The tv series is amazing and watching is is great fun - but the graphic novels are DEAD good. If your a Walking Dead, zombie or graphic novel fan you should get this and add it to your collection. You will not be disappointed!

As a fan of the television show, I wanted to experience the comic book horror series that so many graphic novel fans have praised. I admit, I had not read prior to the television show. However upon purchasing Book One I am most certainly buying the complete set! THE NOVEL: The graphic novel itself is emotionally gripping and brought wonderfully to life by Tony Moore (#1-6 only) and Charlie Adlard onwards. Adlard may not be as "talented" per say as Tony Moore's work. However he magically continues to bring the character's to life as originally illustrated by Moore. As for the story, yes it does not focus as heavily on zombies as you may think, but the development of each character and plot twist will have you craving more each time! It is a must read, horror fan or not. THE DELIVERY: It arrived for me within 4 days of purchasing (very good) and was in top notch condition; not even a corner creased or page bent! I have been disappointed by Amazon's product condition in the past. However this did not let me down! It was nicely packaged up for maximum protection in the mail. Bravo, Amazon...bravo.

Small-town Policeman Rick wakes up from a coma to find that civilisation has collapsed & America has been overrun with zombies. Heading to Atlanta to find his wife & son, he encounters some other survivors on the way - but which of them can be trusted? And will they be able to find enough food & shelter before the winter snows come in? This volume contains #1-12 of the comic, which is the same as volumes 1 & 2 of the TPB's. Unlike the paperback reprints, it includes some extra features - cover art, sketches & a short story from the Image Comics Holiday Special 2005. Writer Robert Kirkman says in the Afterword that he wanted this series to show what happens where zombie movies finish - do they all live happily ever after or run screaming out out the frying pan & into the fire? In this sense, the ongoing comic book format really pays of, as it gives him space to flesh out his characters - after all, the strength of the best zombile flicks has always been the conflict between survivors under pressure. I didn't know anything about this series or its writer before taking a punt on this volume but I'm utterly glad I did & have already ordered the rest of the series. There's a tense, brooding atmosphere throughout. Whenever the characters - & the reader - drop their guards for just a second, death finds a way to creep in. The artwork is also superb - Tony Moore illustrates chapter one while Charlie Adlard takes the reins on chapter 2. Both artists have similar styles, so they don't jar against each other. The only problem is that future volumes can't come out quickly enough! If you like zombie flicks or the Resident Evil video games, then The Walking Dead is highly recommended - VERY highly recommended!

Bought 2nd hand and can’t complain, for a quarter of the price and it’s in near perfect condition, just a few scratches on the cover! The book is an amazing read and hard to put down, also worried that you’ve already watched the show? Par a few dramatic things the story is pretty different so it’ll feel like a new story, a great companion to the TellTale games too (as many of the games interact with the comic and give small Easter eggs) can’t wait to expand the collection!

It might not be cheap but it is really good, better than the tv series. got my nephew into reading books!

Having watched the first two seasons of The Walking Dead and hearing about the variations in the story I thought I would give the books a try. First things first, the price. At £15 (price at time of purchase) I couldnt beat this. Waterstones was the only high street bookshop I could even find this in and it was priced at £29.99! I purchased this using next day delivery option. I purchased this item on the 25th March with the estimated delivery time of 1-3 weeks. As usual with Amazon they overestimated how long it would take them to get this in stock and I received this on the 4th April. The Book: Fantastic story, with it being a graphic novel it doesnt take long to read. I finished it within 1 day picking it up periodically. Season 1 & 2 of the walking dead covers most of the action from book 1 in this series, but so much more happens in the book! It is understandable why they have left some moments out of the tv version as a hell of a lot happens in this edition! If you like the tv show, buy the books!

Very good read 13 times and still amazing better than all the others I read if you read this I recommend you the book about Joe Goldberg it's very good but TWD book is well worth your time and money

Where do I start? This is one of teh most compelling comic book series ever with a ground-breaking attempt to flesh out characters in a wonderfully detailed and engrossing way. It is fascinating to compare the differences between the comics and TV series each of which have real merits in their own rights. This is horror at its best - take a range of ordinary and diverse characters and place them in a horrifying situation then depict the way that they respond to the stress of existing in such a world. The hardback editions are classy, well-bound and great for collecting. Recommended.

Consiglierei questo fumetto a tutti gli amanti della serie TV. Questa, essendo la storia "originale", ha dettagli in più che vengono solo lasciati intendere nel telefilm. Tra l'altro, il volume è fatto benissimo (qualitativamente parlando). Un pezzo da collezione.
