Thermalmix - Insulating Paint Additive

This stuff actually worksI mixed this product with white paint as per instructions in view of painting the walls and ceilings with two coats then a top coat of colour first impressions were that it dose dull down the white to a very very light grey or darker white that said it's not to bad and if I was really that fussed I could paint a top coat of untreated paint but to be honest I quite like itIt leaves the coated surface feeling rough like a very fine grade of sand paper but again with two more coats of untreated paint it's no different from any other wallI have used this on two very cold walls and a chimney stack and you can actually feel the difference in temperature from a treated to untreated surfaceI also painted our shower room celling with the product and before when I had a shower you could see the condensation dripping off the cove and down the wall this has now stopped there is no signe of any condensation in the shower room what so ever and all I have done is paint with two coats of treated white paint so I really do believe in this productI work in the building trade and don't really believe in magical products that make bold claims but in my experience this one has actually worked.Be carefull when using light colours as it will dull down a shade or two and leave a surface feeling a little rough but you can always over paint with a Finnish coat

This product seems to have worked! The wall is definitely warmer to the touch and the room temperature has increased a little bit but easily noticeable. The I used it on my internal single skinned wall straight onto the exposed brick and I used the lot on 2 thick coats. I may buy more to mix with my final layer of whatever colour I go for in the end! It doesn't change the colour of paint as much as I thought it was going to.

This is my go to for stopping mold in the bathrooms. Mix it with paint and apply that's all there is to it. We painted the cold room over the garage with it and you could feel a noticeable difference between the bit painted and the bit not painted in difference of heat. Would recommend.

I’ll just start by saying this is the best stuff I have ever used and it does what it says on the bottle open and pour into the paint stir in and apply to the walls to be treated it does have a slight issue mixing but if left for a couple of hrs it is fine application is as per the paint you use and leave to dry between coats once the desired coverage is achieved leave it as you would and if you have a digital temp gauge use that to check and believe me it is a game changer the difference in temperature from inside to out is something like 14 degrees which is a huge difference from before I was lucky to have 2 degrees difference for the interior and exterior temperature so to nail this down in one hit I would say don’t think about getting this stuff do it, it is worth every penny and if like me you use some expensive paint it does not come cheap

We used Warmcoat (which had the "insulating" paint additive) on the north west facing wall of a shower-room of a country cottage that was suffering very severe mould. The room is only heated when used for occasional showering and it also contains a toilet with open pan. The effect was dramatic. It took months for any mould to reappear and this was easily dispersed by bleach and a further coat. The shower-room is in an outhouse with single thickness brick wall and insulated plasterboard which was unsuitable for further insulation. The two spaces are much easier to heat and stay warm longer.I was interested to see whether good results could be obtained in more traditional constructions and bought several batches of Thermilate additive for people in my neighbourhood to try. We suggest they paint a section of wall and we will go back to compare the temperature of wall of similar exposure with or without the additive bearing in mind that radiation loss increases as the fourth power of the temperature difference of wall and adjacent air. Still investigating but expect the results to be far better than the sceptics suggest. The paint is dear but the powder additive alternative at under £20 to put in a 5 litre can is well worth a try and will not suffer the cold bridging problems of some the more approved methods of insulation. Just paint right to the edges of the room.Thermalmix - Insulating Paint AdditiveWe found the finish was a bit rough and you would need another coat of emulsion for a smoother finish.

We haven't endured a winter yet since using this paint additive so it's hard to say whether it will reduce our energy bills at all. I will say however that the walls where I have used the paint with the additive certainly feel considerably warmer to the touch than the walls without. (we have asked various visitors, builders etc to touch the walls and all have agreed that where the additive has been used the wall is mysteriously warmer!) It's not easy to mix manually so I would recommend a mixer attachment for your drill, the paint finish feels slightly rough with the additive (as if you'd put very fine salt in the paint!) but I actually quite like the rustic feel. It does change the colour of the paint slightly so I painted over with another coat without the additive. All in all very pleased with the product!

After reading reviews I was prepared for the paint being thicker when applying, the paint having a grey ish tone (which does not show when dry) the paint feeling powdery when dry (not a problem)But I was not prepared for how well this product works, the cold attic room that smelt musky was instantly warmer and fresher, I have only managed to do One coat on the walls and ceiling so far and it is so much warmer than I thought it would be.I mixed it in a smaller container (didn't measure it exactly) I went with what felt right and its done the job perfectly.I used a brush and a small roller, as the paint does feel heavier when applying and I have arthritis in my hands.I ordered an extra thermanix when it was on offer as I will now be using it in all of my paint. I live in a 1930s property that is not very well insulated.I have tested an area with 2 and 3 coats and I can feel the difference.I have also used it under wallpaper against the outside wall and it's added an extra thermal layer.Others have recommended doing a final coat without the thermamix so that the surface doesn't feel grainy and I will be trying this on the walls.I can highly recommend this product.

I have an outside wall that allows too much heat in during our summer days. Since taking the wall apart and adding insulation is too expensive, I tried painting the inside with the recommended two coats of Thermalmix Insulating paint additive. I added it to the tan paint I wanted in the room. It mixed very well. It coated very well. It was easy to paint. Since it is a bit thicker it goes on easily and dries quickly. And most of all -- THE ROOM IS COOLER! It is about 7 degrees cooler this summer. I am considering painting the outside of that same wall with this insulating paint this Fall.I didn't even know such a thing as insulating paint existed. I have shared my findings with all my friends and now with you. If you need some help with a warm or a cold wall I highly recommend Thermalmix Insulating paint additive.

This may help more in the winter. Not seeing enough of a difference to invest in more. It does make it more reflective and thinner. Just not seeing that it helps.3 and a 1/2 stars so rounded up as I may be wrong and it's helping more than you can feel.It's very easy to work with. Doesn't clump. And gives the paint a shimmery texture. I did not notice a smell. Cannot speak to durability but it does seem like high quality

Best to mix in a larger bucket with Paine; very fine powder. I found It kept the walls slightly warmer.
