Moondrop CHU II High Performance Dynamic Driver IEMs Interchangeable Cable in-Ear Headphone

TL;DR: How are these 20 bucks? They sound great and have an incredible metal build while being light and comfortable. Buy these. Wtf The Build: How are these $20… This is the most premium headphone I've ever opened and it was $20. T hey're insane. They are metal. They feel substantial in your hand, but light when you put them in they are so small and the fit is incredible, unsurprising for IEMs anyways, but I have some CCZ coffee beans that fit great but are bigger so don't enter as deeply, so these definitely take the cake. They have a leather pouch which is Primo, and not what I was expecting (I didn't see any pics beforehand). The eartips are pretty standard (no foam) and do a good job blocking out the outside world, it’s no active noise canceling and I’ve used better passive, but again they’re 20 bucks. The cable is a bit thinner than other IEM’s I have, and they don't have controls or a microphone. There is a slightly more expensive version with a thicker cable and controls and a mic, although its’ USB-C? Honestly I like the cable, it's light and more out of the way, and if nothing else I’ll just use a different cable from another set of IEM’s. The Sound: They sound excellent. I do think that the mids and highs are a little darker than I'm used to, but it's nothing that I couldn't fix myself with an EQ. They’ve very detailed, I'm running them with the BTR 5 and with Wavelet on and they sound pretty crisp. They're not the most clean I've ever heard, but definitely up there, and ESPECIALLY for $20. I do wish they were treblier, but I’m being picky at that point. I listened to a FLAC of AM by the Arctic Monkeys and they sound real good. I’m not sure what else to say about the sound, it’s dark and bassy, but it's nice and smooth; it’s unlike the bass outta some headphones I’ve tried. They do get loud. I've been listening to them at 60 percent without issue, they do get too loud at about 85 percent, if you’re into that sort of thing. The Moondrop CHU II offers excellent clarity and detail for the price, with a lightweight fit and a much‑appreciated interchangeable cable. They deliver a clean, energetic sound that works well across most genres and generally outperform many IEMs in their price range. The only drawback I noticed is a slight peak around the 4 kHz region, which can make vocals or certain instruments sound a bit tinny or sharp at times. It is not a dealbreaker, but it is noticeable if you are sensitive to upper mids. Fortunately, this issue is easy to fix with a bit of EQ. Reducing the 4 kHz range by about 2 to 4 dB smooths out the harshness without affecting the overall clarity. Most EQ apps, such as Wavelet or Peace APO, make this adjustment simple. After applying this small tweak, the CHU II sounds significantly more balanced and enjoyable. Overall, these are strong performers for the price, and with a quick EQ adjustment they become an even better value.

I’m rating these 4 stars because while the sound quality is top-tier, the overall experience is "good but not perfect." The material of the shells is impressive they feel solid and premium. The color and finish are also very sleek. In terms of compatibility, they work great with all my gear. However, the cord is where I have some notes; while the cord length is standard and practical, the cable itself is a bit prone to tangling. The adjustability is decent since it includes different ear tips, but achieving the perfect fit took some trial and error. Great dynamic performance for the price, but the cable quality keeps it from being a full 5-star product for me.

High Quality drivers: well balanced full range, crisp vocals, strong punchy lows, clear well defined highs. Metal housing with gorgeous gloss back and gold plated driver to ear tip. Silicone ear tips that are soft and unnoticeable. Lightweight and tested to fit S/M/L ears and doesn’t stick out. I’m starting to forget I have them on and I love this feeling. If you have a 4.4mm device, you can always get a new wire with 2 pins. Works great as well.

The sound at first seemed normal, but now as I get used to it, I noticed it’s actually better than I thought? I think the audio quality is a bit subjective. At the very least, the audio isn’t cheap sounding. The box it comes with is cute, I’ve kept it in my room as a little decor. The silicone tips were harder to put on than I thought. I really struggled with it, but at least you know it won’t fall off easily. The earphones itself are metal, which makes it durable and heavier than your average plastic earphones. The weight isn’t noticeable since it goes in your ear. The texture of the cable is like thin clear PVC pipe, I assume it is, since it is kind of stiff, glossy and slick compared to other cables. Through it, you can see the wire is silver, which suggests it is silver-plated copper, which means it should be better sounding than Apple Earpods which use just copper wires. The earphones are actually curved just like in the photo. You can’t straighten them out, it is in a fashion of a sport-hook attachment if you wrap it around your earlobe it makes the earphones less likely to fall out. So besides me struggling with putting the silicone ear tips on, this product is great. However, one weird thing is the pricing of the cables you’re supposed to replace them with is similar to the earphones’ price itself! Add shipping to it, and at that point just buy the whole thing again. So double check the replacement cable prices before buying it, if you’re buying this mostly for the detachable cable feature.

These are great sounding IEMS for the price if on sale. They fit in darn near any ear type too! There are two problem . The ear tips that where included are a tight fit if not too small. The other thing is after a while one of my earbuds started fading until it ceased working. Moisture from the ear channel can build up inside the earbud eventually causing it to fail. It can come back after being left to dry so sorter listening sessions are recommended. I bought them for longer podcast and streaming sessions during the heat of summer instead of using my over the ear headphones. Over time with repeated moisture build up and drying one of the earbuds (left in my case) failed in a permanent state so for me the longevity was only 6-8 months.

I purchased these after my pair of noname IEMs died, since they're the top selling pair on amazon under $25. I use these to edit a podcast, and they work great and are pretty transparent. For the price, these things are an unbelievable deal. They sound great with both music and spoken word, they're comfortable for extended wear, and the all-metal housing is really sturdy. The cable is also really nice - it's thick and doesn't tangle easily. When these die, I'll probably just get another pair since I don't really want or need anything else. My only complaint is with static - it's winter when I'm writing this, and with the air being really dry, these have a tendency to give a very slight, occasional static shock when your ear touches the metal body. It doesn't hurt but you can hear it and it just kinda feels weird. Is it a dealbreaker though, absolutely not. Also, very minor thing, what's up with the anime girl on the packaging? It's kind of embarrassing when you just want some headphones, I get that some people like it but it's a super weird branding choice. Update after 8 months of almost-daily wear - I typically wear these in an office with only one ear in so I can hear what's going on around me, and I've noticed that the left ear (the one I would wear most often) has dropped in volume by about 80% while the right ear is perfectly fine. No idea what caused it, it just happened one day. I'm not dinging it any stars since it's still a crazy value for the quality you're getting, but don't expect too much longevity out of these if you wear them frequently. Update after over a year of near-daily use - these unfortunately died on me a couple of weeks ago. Wearing them in only one ear at a time, I noticed that the ear that I would favor would slowly diminish in volume in the last two weeks of its lifespan, and at a certain point it would fully die on that side. Then I'd switch to the other side, extending its life a few months, but the same thing eventually happened where the volume would gradually lower until it stopped working entirely. I decided to branch out and try a new set after these (the Linsoul Salnotes Zero) and the Moondrops are far and away the best build quality I've found in this price range. Sound quality is similar with decent clarity on both, but I noticed that these are tuned with a bit more bass and slightly more high end detail. So if you're using these in a studio or editing situation, I would maybe look for a pair with a flatter response. Otherwise, if you're using these for casual listening or really anything else, they'll sound great and last you a little while before you have to replace them.

My first ever iems. I was wary on why it's so cheap but turns out iems are price to performance accordingly around the hundrend ranges. These blow all the wireless earbuds and headphones I used just for $23 which is an absolute value for your money! Highly recommend you get and plug into a dac to make it even more worth it. Good: Sound quality blows wireless ear buds / headphones out of the water Very light and the material seems strong not fragile plug and play Branding is pretty cool (if u like anime style stuff) Cons: The eartips are tips are a PAIN to put on. Like a really tight fit. I accidentally ripped one trying to stretch it too much to fit in the iem. So be patient when putting them on and keep rubbing side tilting it till it's slightly in then push in all the way. The cord seems cheap so do treat it to harshly be somewhat careful with it. The two pin connectors can be tight to put in too so again be patient when pushing it it. You'll need more force then you think.

某動画で実機の測定結果も踏まえて「特性は高級機と遜色ないし左右差等のバラつきもなく性能的にはこの価格で全く不足ない」とお勧めされていたので購入（セール中\3900） イヤホン購入は久しぶりですが、この価格でこのビルドクオリティと充実した音質は凄いですね やや重い金属筐体で質感は価格以上ですし、わりとゴツいのにそこまで装着感も悪くない ステムが極太で付属イヤーピースが無理やりねじ込むような装着なのでやや注意 自分はスピンフィットNEOに交換して使用していますが、こちらのほうが装着に余裕がありシリコン素材のフィット感も快適なのでお勧めです ケーブルはかなりクセが強く絡みやすいのでこちらも適当なものに交換（上記イヤーチップと合わせ\3000程度の安物です） 音質の方ですが、測定結果だとハーマンカーブをほぼ再現した優秀な特性となっていました 実際かなり鮮明で密度感もあり聴いていて不足感が全く無い充実した音質 自分は基本スピーカー派でイヤホンのセコい音と脳内定位は好きではないのですが、こと音質に関してはこの格安イヤホンで全く不満がない時点で優秀性を実感出来ます 個人的には「ちょっと中低域の量が多い」とは感じますがそこは好みの問題 測定結果で判明してる理想に近い特性に対して自分がどう感じるか？がわかるのも自身の嗜好が理解できて面白い やや凹型で高域寄りの特性なので、中域強めが好みならイコライザーでその辺りを変えると良いかと ただスマホ直刺しや低品質のイヤホンジャックへの接続だと全く評価が変わるので注意 ヘッドホンアンプを通した音とは雲泥の差なので、この製品本来の性能を味わいたいならある程度のアンプ性能がある機器で使いましょう 音源の差もかなり明確に聴こえるので、良い音源・良い機器で聴くほどに質が上がり、それに追従できるだけの性能があるということです ただオーディオ環境に興味も投資もしない人にとっては若干鳴らし難い機種と言えるので、使用環境によっては本機より感度が良く鳴らしやすい機種をお勧めします ほぼエントリークラスと言っていいこの価格でこの音質と所有満足度すら感じれる質感 実機測定で証明されている高性能が手に入るのは凄い時代になったものです 流石に付属品の質は褒められた物ではありませんが、そこは自分なりにカスタマイズすれば良いし、それも楽しめる人には文句無しにお勧めです

Amazing for the price. Kept seeing getting praised and hyped up as a budget iem and im glad it actually lived up to it. Build quality is amazing, with a full metal body and cable is also decently amazing. 10/10. Definitely will take good care of them.

Very well tuned and an overall improvement from the first generation chu, to my ears. Moondrop has bumped the bass and smoothed out the treble, resolving the slightly metallic timbre of the first gen chu. I never had an issue with the amount of bass on the originals, but a lot of people did, this should fix that. These are now what I would describe as a slightly v-shaped sound signature, but it certainly still manages to remain articulate and engaging, very fun! Vocals are still a strong point, albeit maybe very slightly recessed compared to other Moondrop products (non issue), bass and slam is well controlled and treble has nice sparkle. No more spring tips included, just the standard Moondrop tips, and the nozzle now screws off allowing you to easily replace the filter. Moondrop filters are known to clog up with condensation/moisture resulting in channel imbalance, but I have yet to have this issue with any of my Moondrop iems, maybe I’m just lucky, maybe it’s worse in humid climates. If you do encounter this issue I believe either sucking on it lightly (seriously) or replacing/cleaning the filter will work to fix it for the time being. They also fit great in the ear. Like the chu 1, they’re small and don’t interfere, but don’t sit as flat as something like the Aria would. Remember, these are less than $30, have removable cables (a nice one too, imo), sound good. They make a great gift, too.

I had bought a number of cheaper IEMs that were well-reviewed on YouTube, such as BLOB BL03, Kiwi Ears Cadenza, KZ ZS10 PRO X, and this Moondrop CHU II. I was looking for a pair of IEMs for my Meta Quest 3 VR Headset, where I wanted good sound (with fat bass) for music games like Beat Saber, but also for watching movies where you can really hear those movie basses clearly. I extensively tested all 4 IEMs, starting on the phone with the left-right test to ensure the stereo was on the right side, followed by music videos. Here, the Moondrop CHU II and the KZ ZS10 PRO X performed equally well in the test; both sounded fantastic. I had never heard such quality before. When I performed the test on the Meta Quest 3, the Moondrop CHU II clearly emerged as the winner. The sound here was also of high quality, with a thick, fat bass to boot—exactly what I wanted. The KZ ZS10 PRO X sounded really bad on the Meta Quest 3. I think it has to do with the low-current amplifier in the Meta Quest 3; however, the Moondrop CHU II delivered the same quality as on the phone. I am so satisfied that I just ordered a second Moondrop CHU II set as a spare. I also ordered Moondrop Spring Tips at the same time, which isolate the sound around you even more, whereas it was already blocking out 80%. What quality, and for 25 Euros; I really don't need 1000 Euro IEMs anymore. I was actually considering buying expensive IEMs, but what if it had been disappointing? 1000 Euros down the drain. With the Moondrop CHU II, I have exactly what I wanted; my search for good IEMs is now complete.
