Kilner Square Clip Top Jar 0.5 Litre (500ml) Airtight Glass Jar for Storing Chutneys Pickled Fruits Rice Lentils Dry Foods

I have bought these jars to store dried items in my food shelves area as the airtight seal is best in this type of jar. Especially for the flour the seal will keep the flour fresh and keep any little bugs away that can get into standard flour tins I have used in the past. Size wise I’m currently using the large ones for flour and the smaller ones for nachos and pasta. This jar holds almost a whole bag of nachos and I have to eat the last few if they don’t fit in! A regular packet of pasta fits in easy. The quality is very good, in the past I have bought a copy brand and the clasp but fell apart. The quality is noticeably higher than others I’ve used, especially on the metal clasp area. While the price is a bit more than other brands you get what you pay for and this jar is something worth investing in as it’s made to last

The bottom 3 jars are the ones I bought. I love them, they come well packaged and Kilner products are obviously renowned for their quality. I can’t wait to find a nice tea station to display my jars as they are balanced rather precariously atm lol

These big kilner jars aren't cheap and I have a collection of them as I have open shelves with all my cooking ingredients in jars. It looks super cool. This is a great size for flour or sugar if you bake. It will also last for 30 years or more. They wash great and you can buy replacement seals if you ever need them. As a foodie, I can recommend.

These Kilner jars are great quality, as you would expect. The jars are perfect, well made and easy to use and clean. The metal clip is very well made and very strong. I have some old ones, which are a little bigger, I can see the slight updates in design, on the metal clips and rubber seal, which have got better. The only thing I found difficult to remove is the small oval metal part, which is used to hold the clip mechanism on the jar its self, is a little difficult to insert or remove (which can result in the oval metal loop flying across the room on occasion). Wish they would update this design to ensure the loop can be put on and taken off when needed (mainly when washing the jars). Great jars

Reorganising my larder cupboard, I decided to invest in 3 litre square kilner jars to replace some very old dying plastic containers, for items I use a lot of, like flour, granulated sugar, caster sugar etc ( no awards for guessing, I love to bake) . I love them, so subsequently purchased more! Stating the obvious they are heavy, but airtight. The square shape is in my opinion the best use of space in my cupboard. I love the fact you can purchase replacement seals for them, just don't drop them! I have different sizes for different items, brown sugars, happily fit in my 2 litre size. Again they are heavy, so I need to store them on the bottom shelf of my larder corner cupboard If I was older I may possibly struggle with them so low down, but fortunately not a concern yet!!

Kilner jars are superb and I have many of them. The glass and the metal locking mechanism are of very good quality and work as you would expect, but what sets these jars apart from cheaper ones that you can buy in a supermarket or elsewhere are the seals. I've tested this in the past by filling a cheaper jar with water and turning it upside down. With an inferior seal, the water will usually slowly leak out. This obviously means that the jar is not airtight and whatever you are storing inside will degrade faster than in a Kilner jar. However, you can place a Kilner seal on a cheaper jar. If you then fill it with water and turn it upside down, it does not leak in my experience. Everything about these Kilner jars is excellent, but it is the seals (which you can buy separately) that sets them apart.
