How can you discover your children’s unique talents? And how can you use your own talents and strengths to be the most effective and supportive parent possible? Strengths Based Parenting addresses these and other questions on parents’ minds. But unlike many parenting books, Strengths Based Parenting focuses on identifying and understanding what your children are naturally good at and where they thrive — not on their weaknesses. The book also helps you uncover your own innate talents and effectively apply them to your individual parenting style. You’ll find stories, examples and practical advice as well as a strengths assessment access code for parents and one for kids, so you can take the first step to discovering your innate talents and those of your children. Grounded in decades of Gallup research on strengths psychology — as highlighted in Gallup’s StrengthsFinder 2.0 , which has sold nearly 5 million copies to date — Strengths Based Parenting shows you how to uncover your kids’ top talents and your own. Review: Great for me and the kids! - I bought this book because it was cheaper than buying the skills test directly but I enjoyed it so much I have bought it again to gift. Whilst I don't usually like labelling my children, this book helped me identify one of my daughters frustrating requests as her exploring one of her strengths and the suggestions in this book helped me refocus that, which in itself was worth the price of the book. The book comes with a code to take one adult and one child test online. I bought the kindle edition which came without the codes but a quick message to desertcart and they sorted it promptly. Review: Great insights. Essential reading. - As parents, we spend a lot of time worrying about the things we think our kids should be better at. This book makes such a valuable and logical point about why this is counter productive, convincing us that Parenting based on strengths has got to be a more fun, painless and ultimately more effective way to go.

Poor
I have not talked the test yet, but for the content of the book I poor and very basic. Not impressed, also it’s all about success success success in future career. But nothing at all in strength of being happy and succeed with oneself not essentially for career prospects?!

Best parenting book to help discover the best in your children and how to nuture it!
I would recommend this book for any parent looking for inspiration and guidance to help bring out the best in their children. Strengths based parenting is based on the Strengths concept through the Gallup organization. Great stories, teachings, & assessment codes to get started on the journey. This book helps validate the success we can have if we all learn to take the talents we are born with and begin to strengthen them.

Excellent book! Great gift for new parents and teachers
This book contains exceptional tools for parents. Having marred into a strengths-based family more than 35 years ago, I have witnessed and experienced the joy that comes from parenting with an eye for seeking and supporting children’s strengths, over multiple generations. This book and the new field of Strengths Based Positive psychology is right on the mark. The book helps both adults and children to know and understand themselves and others. I believe strengths psychology is a key solution to many social ills.

Excellent content, disappointing purchase due to printing error
This was a book that we purchased having done the Gallup test for ourselves and wanted our son to take it. We purchased the book because it had two codes - an adult code and child code for the test. But, on cutting open the sealed code envelope we found there to be no codes! We are returning this book for this reason. Very disappointing error made in the production of the book - not a reflection on the content of the book or the authors.
