They work as designed

These work exactly as they should for the low point drain hose on a camper. ( 1/2")They push in snug. I used a hose clamp to secure then added a ball drain instead of a plug but either works

I've used quite a few of these and they can be perfect. I especially like the tabs to help get a tight threading. However, sometimes they need a little help. under pressure, you may need to add a hose clamp. One of the reasons they are so leak free is the inner sleeve, inside the threaded part. If your female fitting fits it, they seal perfectly. If it doesn't, you will need to grind that sleeve down to get a more traditional flat fit and add a gasket. It only takes a few minutes with a Dremel tool, but it can be a bit of a hassle.

I was getting a leak at our black flush hose at the valve. The original adapter was for pex, eventually, it leaked. Replaced it with this item, no more leak
