After extensive use, especially during my motorbike rides, I can confidently say that this is one of the best technology investments I have made in a very long time. Love this camera. Having used a cheaper alternative before spending a bit more and getting this, can say it's definitely worth paying the extra pennies. Fantastic quality video and audio. The image stabilisation is spot on, I was blown away by the quality. Multiple capture modes, good selection of recording quality options. Good audio, clear and full sounding but also reduces wind noise. The mounting options are well thought out and the mount docking with the case is really sturdy as it uses a mechanical clip alongside a strong magnet. I use this for downhill mountain biking, and find it a good camera for that. Not too large and heavy, which is nice as I helmet mount it. It's casing looks and feels robust. So should survive a few knocks. There is a sacrificial lens cover as well. My only real gripe is the fact you cannot use this without first connecting to the DJI app. As in, it gets locked out eventually without first syncing it with the app you've downloaded onto a phone. Google play don't allow the app on the Playstore due to security concerns, but it is available on Apple devices. I used an old IPhone for this as a workaround and the camera has worked perfectly since. All in all, I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone. But if you have an Android phone you may struggle a bit. I'd still give this 5* despite that.

Although the camera I ordered from Amazon did not arrive on the assigned day and the order was then cancelled, I did buy it from another retailer so I’m in a position to review this product after several months of use. I have owned all the DJI action cameras which in itself is a good recommendation. Video quality in good light conditions is excellent, user interface is fantastic, battery performance is great, overheating is not an issue (if you use the camera as designed), and the software NEVER NEVER freezes (unlike another well known rival product that I won’t mention). Notwithstanding all the positive points listed above, in anything other than good light conditions you will see micro-jitters in the video footage. Having owned different brands of action camera this shortcoming is quite common. Another specific issue to note. The Osmo Action 4 has a ‘loop recording’ video feature meaning you could use the camera as a dashcam. However, in the case of the Osmo Action 4 this description is misleading. Unlike a bespoke dashcam (which overwrites old files so that video recording is continuous even if you have run out of space on the SD card), the Osmo Action 4 stops recording video in loop recording mode when the SD card is full. It doesn’t overwrite old files. I have contacted DJI about this issue and they are investigating. I’m hoping a firmware update will improve the ‘loop recording’ feature.

My story is a familiar one by now. Long-time GoPro user, having bought the Hero 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10, experiencing problems with every single one of them. I put up with it because there was no alternative but by the time I got to the Hero 10 I'd decided that I would no longer buy a GoPro. The faults are well documented but one of the reasons for using a small action cam was to encourage my partner to do some simple vlogging, and it got to the point where she stopped picking the GoPro up because it was so frustrating to use. Enter the Action 4. This camera just works. It turns on when it's supposed to, turns off when it's supposed to, records clips without crashing, doesn't overheat, and charges the battery correctly and quickly. On top of this, the log profile is a joy to colour correct with excellent dynamic range, even in low light. In fact, the low-light performance is way better than I was expecting and certainly covers situations where the GoPro would have just fallen apart. With the GoPro I always shot in linear, and the Action 4 has an equivalent fov (don't for forget to use RS+ for tighter cropping). I dial down sharpness and denoise to -2 for a more cinematic look (yeah, I said that word!). If you're looking for a simple vlogging set-up, I'd consider the Smallrig cage and the Comica VM10 Pro. With the narrower fov you just avoid getting the mic in shot, and the Comica connects directly via USB-C. I thought that cable poking out the side of the camera might be an issue but it works well. Finally, a big shout out to the magnetic connections. It's a genius design and you have to wonder why GoPro hasn't adopted something similar. It makes breaking down the camera to pop in your bag so much quicker. If you're like me and got to the point where your heart would sink when picking up the GoPro, get the Action 4. It is an amazing little camera with superior usability and results. It's the kind of camera that makes you want to just pick it up and get recording.

The experience started well with a few months of use, basically up to that point it did what it said on the tin. It would have got a 5 star rating. However on holiday in July it was used on a helmet mount for SUPboarding. This was a "splash" activity, yes it got wet but it was not properly underwater at any time. Suddenly during the day it started to throw errors on the screen about stopping recording as the temperature was too high. Touching the camera showed it to be rapidly heating up, quickly it was too hot to touch (it would have burned skin) and smelt strongly of burning. I had to leave it outside as I was afraid it was going to burst into flames. After an hour it cooled to the point where it could be touched but it was dead. The battery was stuck in the camera and could not be removed. Amazon insisted it should be returned through their repair service. This took a month to basically do nothing. After raising further issues about their repair performance they declared it was unrepairable and I was refunded. Therefore I lost my holiday recordings (the SD card was toasted) and my camera for over a month and was eventually refunded. So it has been a real pain and I can only say its 1 star. Its a great camera with great video, just do not expect it to be waterproof in any way and do not expect a rapid repair from Amazon. Take a look on the internet at how many have had water ingress issues.

Great little action cam, haven't used it yet, bought for a trip to Sicily. There are plenty of great review videos on YouTube. Great price now that newer models have been released but this does everything that I need. Bargain, get one while you can.

A wonderful action camera with incredible stabilization. I had a bad experience with the camera bracket breaking due to vibrations when attached to my bike handlebar. Luckily the camera survived, but made me decide to fit a safety lanyard so that should it occur again I would not have to rely on good fortune. I removed the camera from the frame and drilled 2 off 1.5mm holes in the corner of the frame. There is sufficient room behind the holes where I drilled to allow the lanyard to link without interfering with the camera. i used waxed polyester whipping twine obtainable from a chandlers to make the loop, which is 23 mm long. It is very easy to attach round the handlebar of the bike by passing it round the handlebar and threading the camera through the loop. The same technique can be used to attach it to any object or loop of twine in high risk camera applications.

Wenn man in 2,7K 60 fps im 4:3 Format aufnimmt zB. geht es runter auf ungefähr 110 Mbit/s und bei 2,7K 60 fps im 16:9 Format geht es abwärts auf ungefähr 80 Mbit/s. Das sind gute Solide Daten. Man hat H.264 als Codec. Der H.264 ist dabei jedoch nicht in allen Aufnahmen verfügbar. 4K im 4:3-Format oder 4K mit mehr als 60 fps werden immer automatisch in HVEC codiert, gleiches gilt für den Slow-Motion-Modus und den 10-Bit-D-Log-M-Modus. In der Kamera gibt es 4 Verschiedene Sichtfelder zum Aufnehmen, zuallererst die Normale Sichtweite das 15mm entspricht, da kommt auch alles Entzerrt aus der Kamera. Dann der weite Modus der 12mm entspricht, und zum Schluss das Extra weit, das 11mm Äquivalent entspricht, in dem Modus Weit und extra weit gehen Wir aber in Richtung Fisheye Bereich. Es wird zum Bild Rand hin Rund. Bei 2,7K Aufnahmen kann man den Schmalen Modus Benutzen, der auf 24mm kommt. Wenn man mit der Kamera ganz normale Aufnahmen macht, kommt man wie immer, auf sehr schöne Farben. DJI hat es einfach drauf mit dem Farben. Sie sind jetzt sogar noch lebendiger und kräftiger mit mehr tiefen Schärfe im Vergleich zur Osmo 3. Was natürlich mit dem größeren Sensor zu tun hat, dadurch werden alle Videos jetzt direkt als HDR-Video aufgezeichnet. Der größere Sensor bringt bereits einen höheren Dynamikumfang als Basis mit. Bei Framerates bis zu 4K30 fps arbeitet die Dual-Native-ISO-Funktion des Sensors, Automatisch sogar im Hintergrund noch mit, um noch mehr Bilddynamik zu bekommen. Gerade dunkle Bereiche kommen so dann besser zur Geltung. Wer mit den jetzigen Standard DJI Farben nicht so richtig warm wird, hat die Möglichkeit DLog-M Aufnahmen zu machen und dass in 10 Bit. Früher hieß der Codec *Cinelike. Die Farben sind jetzt bei weitem noch flacher und es hat einen viel höheren Dynamik Umfang. Es gibt an den Hellen und Dunklen stellen mehr Bildinfos als noch zum Vorgänger mit dem Cinelike. So kann man viel Lebendiger die Farben und den Kontrast Nach Colorieren, hat jetzt noch mehr Möglichkeiten seiner Kreativität freien Lauf zu lassen, und in der Nachbearbeitung beim Colorier wird in der Tat alles, merklich, viel Lebendiger und Kontrast Reicher im Vergleich zur Osmo Action 3 Das DLog-M Farbprofile kann man auch Einstellen bei Slow Motion Aufnahmen. Es gibt 3 Verschiedene Aufnahme Modis. In 1080P gibt es 4 Fach und 8 Fach Aufnahmen, bei 4K ist nur 4 Fach Möglich. Bei HD-Aufnahmen bei 4 Fach, ist es in der Bildmitte richtig schön knackig Scharf und die Kamera liefert wirklich gutes Bildmaterial. Je weiter weg sich was Befindet, umso Unschärfer und Weicher wird es, wie bei der Osmo 3 auch. Insgesamt ist hier die Aufnahme schon etwas schärfer, selbst zu den Rändern hin, wird es nur ganz minimal weicher. Bei den 8 Fach Slow Motion Aufnahmen, den Hight Speed Modus, wird die Sache schon etwas Ernüchternder. Die ganze Aufnahme ist einfach zu weich zu Unscharf alles, und je weiter weg sich was Befindet im Bild umso Verschwommener wird es, da gab es leider keinerlei Verbesserung zum Vorgänger Model. Bei Slow Motion Aufnahmen in 4K ist fast das ganze Bild bis zu den Rändern hin Scharf. Es wird zwar leicht weicher zum Rand hin aber man muss auch Bedenken, dass es sich hier um eine kleine Action Kamera handelt und dafür liefert Sie richtig gutes Film Material Ab. Bei Aufnahmen mit etwas weniger Licht sieht das dann schon anders aus, und daran erkennt man auch das auch der etwas größere Sensor im Vergleich zur Osmo 3 nicht so den großen unterschied hier macht. Man könnte die Bildverbesserung Einschalten, was nur bis 30fps Aufnahmen geht, und die Kamera erkennt die schlechten Lichtverhältnisse und reduziert das Rauschen Theoretisch dann. Aber in der Praxis wurde das Bild auch nicht wirklich besser. Der Schnelle Übergang von Dunkel auf Hell meistert die Kamera sehr gut. Sie macht das schnell, Sauber und ohne Pumpen. Sie stellt sich sofort richtig ein auf die neue Licht Situation. Gefühlt sogar bisschen schneller als die Osmo 3 und die war ja schon richtig gut und schnell. Was Generell und das schon seit der Osmo 1 das Problem von DJI ist, sind Aufnahmen unter schwierigen Lichtverhältnissen. Diese Kamera wie auch alle ihr Vorgänger sind da im Automatik Modus beinahe nicht wirklich zu Gebrauchen. Die Kamera im Automatik Modus stellt den Shutter und das ISO leider nicht, oder immer noch nicht, harmonisch optimal ein. Wer gute Aufnahmen will sollte in den Pro Modus Wechseln, Oder, und da kommt jetzt das neue Future der Kamera zu Geltung, man macht die Aufnahme wieder im Automatik Modus, aber mit einer ISO-Sperre und diesmal Iso Sperre 100-1200. Man kann dann im Menü die Bildanpassung Aktivieren und die Bildverbesserung, beides auch im Automatik Modus laufen lassen und die Aufnahme ist mit weniger ISO fast identisch mit der Aufnahme im Kompletten Pro Modus bei höheren ISO.Der Vorteil der 4 ist das man etwas weniger an Iso braucht jetzt, natürlich wegen dem größeren und Effizienteren Sensor, und die Bild Anpassung korrigiert das Rauschen auch sehr gut Raus. Was man so, bei der Osmo 3 nicht hat. Generell ist die Osmo 4 im zusammen Spiel mit den ganzen Automatischen Einstellungen jetzt bisschen harmonischer, Anwender Freundlicher bzw. einfacher in den Einstellungen jetzt und Sie performt etwas besser als alle ihre Vorgänger bei Schwierigen Licht Verhältnissen. 9) Was auch sehr harmonisch zusammen arbeitet und das im Kompletten Automatik Modus ist das Hyperlaps. Die Einstellungen und Intervalle sind die gleichen wie bei der Osmo 3 und die Ergebnisse auch, perfekt und sehr schön anzuschauen alles. Beim Timelaps sieht es ganz anders aus. Im Freien bei guten Licht ist alles fast bis zu den Rändern Scharf und es gibt auch keine Verzerrungen an den Rändern.. Auch das Wechsel Spiel, Schatten mit Licht, nimmt sie sehr gut mit und gleicht alles perfekt aus. An manchen Stellen bei richtig schlechten Licht da hat Sie bisschen Probleme mit dem Rauschen, was aber normal ist. Sobald Sie eine, und wenn es nur eine kleine Lichtquelle direkt bekommt, werden die Aufnahmen sehr gut und im Freien bei Sonnenschein sind es nahe an Perfekte Timelaps Aufnahmen. Der Stabilizer der Osmo Arbeitet sehr zuverlässig und gut und darüber hinaus Cropt er auch nicht merklich viel in das Bild. Das gleiche gilt auch für den Rocksteady+, da wird zwar ein bisschen mehr in das Bild Gecropt, aber auch das ist im Normalen Vertretbaren Bereich noch, und auch er arbeitet sehr zuverlässig und Überaus zufriedenstellend. 12) Zum Ton gibt es eigentlich nicht viel zu sagen, er ist sehr gut genauso wie er an der Vorgänger Kamera auch war. Aufgezeichnet wird mit 48Khz und 16bit AAC, darüber hinaus kann man im Pro Modus auch die Wind Unterdrückung Aktivieren, Bei dem Sichtfeld hat sich nichts geändert es ist immer noch bei 155 Grad mit F2,8. Dadurch das aber ein größere Sensor verbaut ist verschiebt sich die nah Fokus Grenze auf 40 cm. Wer Bilder machen möchte, kann bei 4:3 oder 16:9 Aufnahmen im Sichtfeld Normal, gute Bilder hinbekommen. Sie kommen entzerrt mit schöne Farben und Scharf aus der Kamera. Bei Bildern mit der Einstellung *Sichtfeld Weit, kommen Wir schon in den Fisheye Bereich. Das ist es an den Rändern zu stark gewölbt alles. Beim Zoom hat sich was Geändert. Es gibt jetzt nur noch 2 Fach Zoom anstatt 4 Fach wie beim Vorgänger aber auch der sollte weiterhin nicht benutzt werden. Es wird auch bei 2 Fach Zoom zu Matschig. Mein Tipp- Einfach weiter Ignorieren diese Funktion. Ich arbeite ja nie mit 120fps bei 4K aber natürlich wollte ich diesen Punkt nicht auslassen. Ich muss schon Sagen das mich da die Kamera sehr überrascht hat. Bei der Osmo 3 waren es ja so um die Neun Minuten bevor sie immer abschaltete wegen Überhitzung. Die 4, auch nach 5 Wiederholungen des Testes, schaffte jedes Mal mindesten 12.30 Min Aufnahme Zeit hier im Studio, es ist natürlich hier Windstill und es waren ungefähr 34 Grad hier. Also mit Fahrt Wind dann zB. und etwas Niedrigeren Temperaturen dürfte es sogar noch einiges mehr geben. Da hat DJI-Hand angelegt und sich sehr stark verbessert, der neue Sensor leitet die Wärme merklich definitiv jetzt viel besser und effizienter ab. Die Unterwasser Aufnahmen finde ich meistert die Kamera mit Bravour. Die Unterschiedlichen Lichtverhältnisse, das Farben Spiel und die schnellen Abwechslungsreichen Bewegungen von Licht und Schatten und Spiegelungen nimmt die Kamera sehr gut auf. Die Tonaufnahmen der Kamera unter Wasser und direkt nach dem Auftauchen sind immer noch etwas dumpf, aber ich habe es verglichen mit der Osmo 3, leicht besser. Auch da find ich hat die Kamera sich Verbessert. Und diese Ton-Aufnahmen kann man in einem Video durchaus Benutzen. Das Wasser läuft wohl schneller aus den Mikrofone Ritzen ab, und dadurch ist der Gute Ton auch schneller wieder verfügbar bei der Kamera…

Great action cam! Amazed by the quality of the recordings, the possible settings and the supporting iOS software to sync, edit and manage and publish photos, videos and streams. Glad I did not go for cheap “GoPro rip-offs”, but for this DJI Osmo Action 4 with competing top quality at a good price point. Plenty of mounting and lighting accessories to do any type of interior and outdoor recording. Great alternative to use in harsher context next to a more vulnerable and expensive iPhone 16Pro. Used it extensively in sub-tropical, wet and underwater conditions (28M depth, together with underwater housing). Eyeballing the 6, now that it came out, but the differences in specs and pricing are not convincing me (yet) to sell this one and purchase that one.
