Works Incredibly well.
This stuff is amazing. Itโs dense, flexible, and super easy to cut to size. I used it around my crawlspace dehumidifier, and it made a huge difference โ you can barely hear it running now. It doesnโt absorb sound like foam does; instead, it blocks and dampens vibration, stopping sound from transferring through materials. Itโs especially good at killing low-frequency hums and structural vibration rather than muffling open-air noise. The only downside: nothing wants to stick to it. Tape peels off and most glues donโt bond at all. The only thing that worked for me was contact adhesive spray. Once itโs in place though, itโs rock solid and works great.

Definitely works
We had to take our place down to the studs so we the opportunity to try to soundproof our mother in law rental unit from the main house. We put this in place over what were once doorways between the two units. We put it over the insulation under the drywall. We used the green tacks you can buy here on Amazon to put in place. We then used green goo sealant on the drywall. It absolutely shut down the sound, which has been an issue in the past. Its heavy but very easy to cut to size with scissors or a utility knife. We are also using in a bathroom adjacent to the other unit which has sound issues. It might seem expensive but it's actually a very cost effective way to soundproof or drastically cut sound. We used Rockwool Safe and Sound insulation, another great product for reducing sound in a home or office. You can get the insulation at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Works decently well for light soundproofing
I put these in an HVAC closet to dampen sound, they worked fine for what they are but they donโt work miracles. There wasnโt much of a smell to deal with but they did have a powdery residue on them. Theyโre pretty hefty and can be tricky to work. Overall theyโre a good value if you need some light sound proofing. If you need anything more robust youโll have to get much more mass

Great Sound Barrier!
I bought this as a sound barrier on a unused window between two rooms. It does not come sticky so you will have to find a way to install it to your area. We used caulk as glue lol, and then added some screws around to keep it in place. Super easy to install. It is the exact size of 12inch and this window was 24inchs exactly, so it was perfect! It is thick enough and high quality so you can not hear voices on the other side. I think this is worth itโs value! If you were to go up behind it and knock, you will hear a muffled knock, but voices and music are tapped out, which is what I was looking for!!

Decent for the price
Helped block some noise but a bit difficult to work with as it kept trying to roll back to its original shape.

Too Heavy to Use
I knew this material would be heavy, but it ended up being much heavier than expected. I couldnโt really use it for my project, so it was a disappointing purchase.

Rain Noise Silenced: A Game-Changer with TroyStudio Mass Loaded Vinyl
When rain would hit the old metal flashing on my property, it created a horrendous clatter that echoed through the house. I decided to give the TroyStudio Mass Loaded Vinyl Soundproof Barrier a try, and I couldnโt be happier with the results. The material is thick, heavy, and clearly designed with soundproofing in mind. Installation was surprisingly straightforwardโI used Loctite Power Grab adhesive to secure the vinyl over the metal flashing, and it adhered perfectly. Once in place, the difference was immediate and remarkable. The noise from the rain is now completely gone, turning what was once an aggravating experience into a quiet and peaceful one. This product is a fantastic solution for anyone looking to reduce unwanted noise, whether from rain or other sources. Highly recommend!

Serious Noise Blocking
This mass loaded vinyl is incredibly dense and heavy, which is exactly what you need to actually block sound rather than just muffle echoes. I used it to line a noisy equipment cabinet, and while it was a bit of a workout to cut and install due to the weight, the drop in noise transmission was immediately noticeable.

ideal if you have time
ideal product if you have the time to do it yourself . finding a car available installer who does want to upsell you nonsense and tell you audio taste isnt a personal thing is a much bigger challenge

Too expensive
It is a bit early to find out if it does what it is meant to do, but I can say now that is that I am going to need quite a lot more for my requirements. I should have checked the measurements of the product more carefully! It is going to cost me a lot of money. I am going to look for substitutes as I won't be able to afford more of this.

Reduce disturbing noise
Easy to install with carpenter's staples. I used to reduce noise from neighbour heat pump. I added the following. First attempt: sonopan + 2 x 3/8 inch gyps: was not enough + messy with plaster, paint, etc. Then I added some more: 1/4 inch aspenite, the MLV (mass loaded vinyl), 1/4 MDF and imitation 1/8 wood to finish. Overall, it reduced significantly the disturbing noise. I am quite satisfied and I do not loose too much space. Addition of bricks outside the house was very, very expensive.

Good at Diminishing Sound Transmission in Vehicles
I have used a few rolls of this in a 2024 RAV4. It does work to diminish sound transmission.

Soundproofed drain plumbing 100%
We bought a new-to-us house that was built in the 80's and one of the things we noticed during our initial inspection was the tremendous amount of noise and sound coming from the drain fall pipe that runs through the dining room wall from the 2nd floor bathroom. I'm a contractor and was already planning tearing open the drywall to remove a load bearing wall, so I planned on tackling the noise issue at the time. I used this along with closed cell foam to soundproof a drain fall pipe running through the dining room ceiling and wall from second floor bathroom to basement. Wrapped the fall pipe, added some addition acoustic batt and vapour barrier in ceiling joist cavity, and closed up the drywall. It's now absolutely silent - completely solved the problem. Great stuff
