It works, but it seems a bit slow regarding larger disks.. It copies bits with approximately 90Mb/s, and for a disk with 750GB it took for us about 2 hours and 40 minutes, with one source and 3 target disks.

Cheap hardware, bought to wipe drives but what is not made clear is that this awful 4 bay device will only allow you to wipe 1 drive at a time. Does bot matter which bay you use so it is not a technical limitation. I have never paid so much for such a cheaply put together worthless piece of trash. It is incredibly misleading of Star Tech not to make it clear that it works this way.

Been looking for a while for a 4 device duplicator. Added bonus was the wipe feature.

The product description implies that it is a four bay SATA module with the capability of performing stand-alone (no PC required) media erasure or secure erasure. This is important for SATA SSDs, since you cannot degauss them. The secure erase is done with a simple SATA command that instructs the drive itself to wipe data. Unfortunately, the secure erase is limited to only bay number four. If you have multiple drives to wipe it is faster to just connect the unit to a PC via USB, then issue the SATA commands to each drive to initiate the secure wipe. But this is definitely not "stand-alone" usage. I find this odd - any use case that would require 3:1 disk cloning often enough to need a stand-alone duplicator would likely also need to secure erase multiple drives as well. I believe this is suitable for home or very small office use only, but those users would find a two bay unit to be more cost effective

Worked perfect. Just cloned my first 20 pcs with and worked without issues. Seems to do the trick. Worth the price since you saves hours in labour
