5 Classic Albums

I have been a GP fan since Howling Wind and have seen GP and The Rumour in concert many times so to find these classic albums at this price was a gift from the heavens. How do you become a GP fan? start by getting this package and you will see how good the man is.

A must for any Parker fan who wants to fill up their cd collection. Good Value for money too! The albums are Howlin' wind,Stick to me, The up escalator, Struck by lightning, and squeezing out the sparks. Turn up the volume and enjoy!!!!

Some of Graham Parker's best albums, and great for in the car. Only 4 stars because they've changed some of the track listings from the original albums

I'd question the claim that this is truly '5 classic albums', as only the first 3 qualify for that title for me, and the epic 'Heat Treatment', which followed hot on the heels of 'Howling Wind', is a major omission here. However, that said, I'd echo most of the reviewers here by saying this is a superb bargain, with the albums here capturing much of the magic of Parker & the Rumour at their very best. There's a great balance between flat-out high octane numbers, and restrained lyrical ballads. I found the albums cut at quite a low level, so they do need a bit of volume to reach their most enjoyable level. For me, there was also the happy discovery of 'Struck by Lightning', an album I didn't know, and one which reveals how Parker's style has matured & developed into more restrained, though still very soulful pieces, with strong melodies and deeper lyrics than much of his earlier work. I've found this album a lovely surprise, and a more tranquil yet richer experience, with some lovely production values. For those interested in sampling Parker's work, I'd still strongly recommend his 'Very Best Of' collection, which is a wonderful collection at a very modest price. It's very likely that you'll then wish to buy this collection, and add 'Heat Treatment' to 'complete your set'. A memorable collection.

Country , R+B, Reggae, Soul, New wave it's all here! One of the most underrated English singer songwriters of his generation, in their heyday Graham Parker and the rumour live were as good as anyone . Buy it you won't be disappointed

The music is for you to decide upon, the quality in sound is great, the box itself is basic repro vinyl style sleeves, that's the point of these sets....less money for more product, so no complaint there....that's the nature of release in this series. If you don't mind no booklets etc, your onto a financial winner, without losing the music you want......at £2.00 a cd how can one not love this series of box sets......buy it enjoy it!!

5 brilliant albums.Been looking for Squeezing Out Sparks on CD for ages plus great to see the Stiff Records release The Up Escalator here.

A good way of getting a full intro top Graham Parker. Some great songs, but possibly better covered.

Conosco Graham Parker dai tempi di Mona Lisa Sister ed avevo ascoltato anche la produzione precedente. Per cui è stato interessante acquistare il pacchetto contenente i primi lavori. Grande Artista lo si ascolta sempre volentieri.

I saw Graham Parker and the Rumour (an underrated band in their own right) several time back in the day, and they always put on a great live show. A real shame that 'Heat Treatment' is not included in the collection, but still worth it. Each in its own cardboard sleeve with original LP graphics inside a larger one. Sound is excellent. A good buy. Put on your Soul Shoes and enjoy! -JR

Listen up ! If you don't have any Graham Parker in your collection and you call yourself a music fan you better grab this collection. Graham Parker is one of the best ever. He ranks right up there with Elvis Costello. And " Don't Ask Me Questions"....
