WestCreek CERBERUS V Heavy Metal Electric Guitar

Incredible deal! At $219, with the $40 off coupon, this guitar outplays some of my much more expensive LTD, Jackson, and Dean guitars. I really like the shape of this V and the reverse headstock looks killer. The reverse silverburst paint looks great and the paint lines are clean around the binding and headstock and the rosewood fretboard is very dark and well polished. It does indeed have a bone nut, they just painted it black, you can see the white of the bone coming through at the corners and the nut slots on my copy are cut perfect. The frets do appear to be stainless steel, comparing them to my nickel fretted guitars, and are nicely polished and level with no buzzing or dead notes. I recommend changing the strings immediately, as the ones that come on the guitar(9-42) are not very good and will leave black on your fingers, I put Dunlop heavy cores on mine(10-48) and they are much better for this 24.75 scale length. The stock pickups sound ok, but I relaced the bridge one with a Seymour Duncan Nazgul, much better with crushing tone, I plan on putting a Sentient in the neck position. The bridge and tailpiece are of decent quality and the tuners are actually really good, so no upgrade needed. The guitar is light, at about 6lbs even, and it balances pretty well with no neck dive. As others have noted, the jack is on the inside of the lower fin, I play standing up so it doesn't bother me, but it could be uncomfortable sitting down without a 90 degree cable. I will also add, that I didn't have the grounding issues or microphonic pickups on my copy, the wiring was good. These guitars are great for beginners that want to learn guitar without breaking the bank, or experienced players that may want to upgrade the pickups and still come out way ahead budget wise. I thought I would add a review for the Cerberus CB-3, since I got it right after I wrote the review for the silver one. To start off, it looks amazing, the pictures I took don't do it justice! The red they used for the fade is a deep candy apple red metallic and looks exactly like the promo picks, in hand. The CB-3 differs from the original Cerberus in the following ways: it comes with a genuine Floyd Rose Special with locking nut, it has 24 frets, the neck is a 25.5" scale length, and it weighs a bit more at closer to 7 lbs. The neck appears to be similar thickness and shape to the hardtail version and the bridge pickup sounds a bit better than the one that came with the silver version. Both guitars needed to have a slight truss rod adjustment, as the necks had too little relief, easily fixed by loosening the truss rod a half turn. The CB-3 came set up with .10-.46 strings and played very well once the truss rod was adjusted. The action was set at 1.75mm on the bass side and 1.5mm on the treble from the factory. They decided to mount the Floyd slightly above the body instead of recessing it into the cavity, because of this the neck has a slight angle to the body as compared alot of other guitars with Floyds where the neck is parallel to the top of the body. Mounting the Floyd in this way doesn't seem to affect playability, but I thought I would mention it. The Floyd stays in tune once the strings and the tension springs are broken in. On the back the CB-3 has the same control cavity as the silver one and the plate for the Floyd is not recessed into the body, but it does have slots the plate for adjusting the spring tension. Overall, this is another great release from Westcreek. The CB-3 looks and plays like a much more expensive guitar and feels solid, a really awesome value. I ebonized the fretboard with stain and I got a Floyd Rose hardware upgrade kit with the red anodized stainless steel screws, locks, and retainers. I plan on upgrading the pickups later to Seymour Duncan, though the stock ones don't sound bad.

I love this guitar. The tone I can get out of it from the pickups is insane! Very durable, the paint job is beautiful. Not to mention the unique body design. Show stopping piece. I did however have some problems with it when I got it though. Went to change the strings as other reviews advised. As I removed the strings the nut just fell off. It wasnt glued into place properly. Went to the store and got wood glue and some sandpaper and fixed her up. The truss rod also needed some adjustments out of the box. Nothing too big of a deal.

Having not purchased a guitar in quite a while, I wanted something to new to renew my interest in playing, as I'd fallen a bit out of love with the guitar the past few years. I've got (slightly) more expensive guitars, but when I saw this, I just had to try it out since the price was so good and it just looks so cool. I have to say ... even without saying "for the price," this is a very good guitar. Now, "for the price" it almost seems impossible, but I guess it's getting cheaper and cheaper to make these things now. Build quality is very good. There are some flaws in the finish -- nothing major, and nothing I'd return a guitar at this price over, and probably not anything I'd return a guitar for 3x the price over. It looks so much better in person (I have the silver and black model). If you've fallen in love with the look, you'll still be in love when it arrives. The pickups are ... meh, typical cheap guitar pickups, a bit microphonic, maybe a bit hotter than they can really handle. Change them out. The tuners are fine-to-good, change them if you feel like it, but i don't think it'll be necessary and I'm leaving mine for now. The one thing I'll need to have worked on is some of the frets -- the bottom edges of a few need filing, causing the high E to sometimes get caught on the fret end. Other than those couple of frets, the rest seem fine. Weight distribution is good -- I was very surprised to see zero neck dive. Knobs and pickup switch can stay for now. If there is one big glaring inexplicable flaw to this guitar ... it's the jack. Why they put it where they put, or why they didn't make it angled and recessed if they had to put it there, is beyond me. If you plan to play this guitar sitting down most of the time, make a new plan or get a different guitar. Unless you use the thinnest of angled jacks, it's going to dig right into your thigh without mercy. I wavered on whether this was a dealbreaker or not, and decided it wasn't for me "for the price." I have to believe no one at the company tried playing this sitting down while plugged in. So ... "for the price" rating is 4 stars. Ignoring for the price, maybe 3.5 stars, knocking off for the pickups, fret ends, and jack placement. Still, I keep going back to it, it is fun to play, and man, if you're into pointy "metal" guitars, this thing is just fun to even *look* at. Summary: Beautiful guitar, low price, fun to play, needs some work if you want it to be one of your faves.

This guitar can handle very aggressive metal and it plays like a much, much higher priced one. For how this guitar feels and sounds and at this price point, I’ll just play WestCreeks. Here’s a video of a song of mine called Tragedy with a very aggressive hammer-on style of playing (the kind that would cause fret buzz the most) and it still handles it with ease, even with the generously low action height. I’m just blown away by how this guitar handles my original metal songs, played here in DADDAD through a Line 6 Uber Metal pedal and my big JBL 720. I bet all the guitars in the WestCreek lineup are good, but the Cerberus is unbelievable for its price. It’s just a dream come true. Zero neck dive when standing, a totally balanced feeling that inspires confidence, and a paint job that’s insane in real life as you play. I can’t stop playing this guitar, thank you WestCreek!

I have been considering one of the Cerberus models for quite a while now and decided to pull the trigger and all I can say is WOW!!!! This thing, looks, plays and sounds great! I picked up the one they call Pink with the Black Splatter but it's more of a dark purple or Magenta with pink metal flake. It looks absolutely wicked! The pickups sound great, hot enough for just about any style of music and quiet too, no squealing. My only suggestion to Westcreek would be to give the neck a satin finish (it can be a little sticky) and upgrade the tuners to locking tuners. That's it, it would be perfect. On a side note Westcreek I would love it (hint hint) if you would make an offset flying V like the Jackson Rhoads model. That would be sick and a definite purchase from me.

I've been collecting guitars for decades now and currently have about 30. I watched the YouTube reviews and read a lot of Amazon reviews, before deciding on this guitar. Wow! The finish is stunning and difficult to capture on a camera (I may supplement this review later with some video footage). The guitar arrived quickly, extremely well packaged and with zero pain flaws. I initially restrung the guitar, due to having favorite strings and checked the neck relief. The neck is dead flat and only needed very minimal relief. As hard as I tried to find a high fret or fret sprout, none of that was present. As in previous reviews I've read, there are full size pots (potentiometers) installed, good wiring, soldering joints and I didn't experience any ground noise type issues. The sound quality is really good as well. Both the stock neck are full sounding and my purchased guitar didn't have microphone pickups (yes!). The turners were actually really good. I had planned on replacing them, however, in my case it wasn't really necessary. I originally wanted to mount this guitar as a show piece in my home, where it could be esthetically enjoyed by others. Now, I know that I'll need to buy a second WestCreek CERBERUS for that purpose. I showed my girlfriend this guitar and she said, "that is my guitar, I will learn how to play it". So maybe I'll need to purchase two more of these guitars, so I'll have one to gift, one to play and one to proudly display. Honestly, this guitar is too durable to just mount on the wall like a painting, however; for the exceptional price point - this is definitely a possibility.

this guitar is awesome, the price is cheap, the guitar looks great, it has a Whammy Bar, the neck is nice, it has rounded frets, it plays like a dream, I have had lots of V guitars, the shape is more of an Arrow than a V but still looks awesome, mine is black and silver, the reverse headstock is cool, the tuners work well, no slop, the neck locking bridge works excellent, it stays in tune when you do deep dives, it's a Floyd Rose copy trem, but it works nice, a little adjusting and you will love it, the pickups sound very good for any kind of playing, all in all it is very much worth it, West Creek has a great product.

Nice guitar but they both had a chip on the bottom horns so i was very disappointed and I noticed they were out of stock so u just kept them i didnt not pay for chipped guitars so I just put thicke rubber on them but im just disappointed

This is my third west creek guitar and it is wonderful, just like my Racer and my 333. It had a little fret buzz but adjusting the truss rod fixed that. The frets are amazing with ball ends, no sharp edges whatsoever. I have guitars that cost much more with frets that weren’t this nice. If you aren’t a brand snob, you will love West Creek guitars.

What a guitar for the money, puts more expensive guitars to shame. No need to change the pickups they're fantastic, using it as a guitar to play slayer in D# only changed to better quality strings. Flawless paint, Frets and fretboard. Binding is perfect. £219 for this when other companies would charge £800. Nice thin neck reminds me of my Esp Edwards or Explorer. Buy one while you can

Received guitar in good time. Straight out the box plugged in to my spark mini amp with van halen tone and I was literally blown away. This guitar sounds way better then my fender and my ibanez guitars. Amazing! Well done westcreek, fantastic instrument.

After having it for almost a week I can confidently say this guitar is amazing. It's tuning stability is just as good if not better than my x series jackson and it's frets feel amazing. I am NOT getting any grounding issues even with the black hardware. The only complaint I have is it feels as If the the higher strings are grinding against the frets but I'm sure that will go away once I clean the fretboard with lemon oil and even if that doesn't work it's not very noticeable anyway. The pickups are amazing and can Handel alot of gain without sounding muddy at all they also have a nice high end to them. I should also mention it came out of the box set up with a really nice low action and is light weight and has really good weight distribution with no neckdive. Overall this guitar is amazing and for 360 canadian after tax it might be the best guitar for your money it plays just about as good as my $1000 jackson.
