Holy Stone HS720G 2-Axis Gimbal Drones with 4K EIS Camera, 2 Batteries 52-Min Flight Time, Brushless Motors, GPS Auto Return, Video Transmission, Mini Foldable Drone for Beginners Adults

I ordered the Holy Stone HS720G. I am a beginner. I’d never flown a drone, nor had I the desire to even get one. However, I had a need where a drone would fit the bill. As a beginner, I didn’t want to drop a large some of money for a device that I could potentially destroy in the first few flights. I had shopped around and watch many YouTube videos on various devices. I liked this bundle from Amazon for a few reasons, including that it came with a carrying case and two batteries. As for the HS720G itself, it came to the top of my list because these features: 2-Axis Gimbal, 4K Camera, and the follow me feature. The instructional videos for setup and configuration were easy to use and understand. Yes, I have crashed the drone on multiple occasion and removed a few leaves from several trees. It still flies. Using the map to determine a flight path is easy. Videos are of high quality. Being able to pivot the camera level or down is easy. I’m super pleased with the purchase and would recommend this device for other beginners like me. I would recommend, however, to splurge and get the controller with the built-in screen rather than relying on your cell phone. The controller will hold my iPhone 13 in the case, and it feels balanced, but can be cumbersome. Additionally, there have been times when I couldn’t see my cell’s screen even with the brightness all the way up. This is not a shortcoming with the HS720G or its controller, just my phone, which is why I would recommend getting a model where you are not reliant upon the phone.

I really enjoyed flying this drone for the few times I took it out. Easy to control and set up.

As someone who has been flying drones since the first DJI phantom, I could tell right away this one is not very good. I just wanted something in the 100$range to get me some wide shots on my travels. The Holystone HS720G is cheap, and you get what you pay for: Pro: Very low initial price Con: Cheap feel, fragile parts, and poor flight control that I can only label as "unsafe" If you’re looking for a budget drone with basic features, look past the Holystone HS720G. It’s inexpensive and comes with GPS and a 4K-capable camera — sounds great for the price. But in real-world use, several significant drawbacks severely limit its value. So unless you're planning to crash-test it or fly it into a volcano- just expect to be disappointed. ****Unpredictable Flight Behavior********* (unsafe) First flight, wide open, huge 2 acre parking lot, went up and within 5 seconds it had zero predictability. It just runs off. This is where the HS720G really disappoints. The drone struggles to hold position- it just drifts off and turns erratically which can cause serious harm to property or people - I narrowly avoided a catastrophic landing, the thing just isn't safe, and landed upside down. Looks cool, ok- the design and the case are cool - but feels cheap in your hands- it's fragile. Right from unboxing, the HS720G feels like a toy rather than a proper aerial camera platform: Plastic components feel brittle and lack the solid construction you expect even at lower price points. Folding arms and battery latches seem especially fragile...not confidence-inspiring for repeated travel or rough terrain. Fragile Parts = Frequent Worries Several components on the HS720G show weakness under minimal stress: Motor housings and prop guards are lightweight and bend easily. The camera mount can shift with minor jolts, leading to shaky footage. Screws are small and can loosen quickly... not ideal if you’re flying regularly. This is the kind of drone where you might find yourself replacing parts or reinforcing joints more often than flying. Camera Performance Isn’t Worth the Hassle Although marketed with a 4K camera, the footage quality rarely lives up to that expectation unless the lighting is perfect. Footage often looks shaky even on calm days due to unstable flight. Colors and detail don’t compete with better drones in the same price category. Gimbal stabilization is mediocre at best. If your goal is a reliable, stable, and durable flying camera, this is not the droid you're looking for.. It might serve as a fun budget toy around the backyard, that's about it. Returning this junk and getting a serious DJI model instead. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

I thought I wanted a drone to use as a platform to take new photos and videos. My fear was that I didn't want to drop over $1,000 into a new drone that I might crash, lose, or get bored of. Enter the HS720G. The HS720G is a solid, straightforward, and easy drone to learn how to fly. It gets the job done if you're trying to learn how to fly properly, and get some photography in. This drone weighs in over 249 grams, but comes with a Remote ID already installed. You must be TRUST certified (very easy "test" to pass) and the drone must be registered with the FAA ($5 fee), and they will give you a registration number to fly with (like a license plate). NOTE: some people may not want to bother with the TRUST or registering the drone...the fines for NOT complying can be about the cost of a new car - so just get it done! The drone is a decent size up close, but can be tough to see in a busy background - even during daylight. It only has one LED (on the rear) so I will be adding some "anti-collision lights" to make the drone easier to see. The durability is great. I have unfortunately crashed the drone a few times, and the drone just keeps on flying! I have not had any trouble with the connectivity of the drone, but I also haven't flown it very far away yet. I have heard that the real range on this drone is close to 500 meters, which is not as far as other drones out there, but those other drones tend to cost more than this one. I bought the drone with two batteries, and both batteries seem to get me fairly close to the advertised flight time of 26 minutes each on a full charge. Camera quality is okay. The manufacturer claims the images are 4K, but reportedly they have a very low mega-pixel rate. Photos on the phone are 720p, while photos on the memory card are 4K. Even in 4K, the photos when blown up do not look super crisp. This is a great entry level drone. It's easy to learn to fly, and is tough enough to handle a few crashes. I would definitely recommend this drone to anyone looking to get into drone flying for the first time.

I have been flying R/C airplanes since the mid 90’s and figured it was time to move to a drone. I have been researching drones for the last couple of weeks and decided to go with the HS720D because of the gimbal camera, great reviews and Amazon had a great deal which put it in my price range. I wanted to get a drone that was above a toy drone but not break the bank with the realization that I am a beginner drone pilot and will probable crash this one at some point. That is why I settled on the HS720G drone. My drone arrived on Sunday and I was excited to give it a try. I have been watching the startup videos prior to receiving my drone so when it arrived I was ready to give it a try. I unboxed it and figured I would have to charge up the batteries. To my surprise the batteries had a ¾ charge and from my experience with flying R/c planes I was good to go for a short “training” flight. After going through the drone setup and binding, Satellite configuration (18 in North Dakota) Gyro calibration, and setting up the app on my phone, I was ready to give it a whirl. I also remembered from one of the videos to put the controller in beginner (slow) mode for speed and geo fencing. I am now ready to make my first drone flight. I unlocked the motors and the drone came to life, I took a deep breath and pushed the takeoff/Land button. It jumped up in the air about 4’ and just sat there hovering with very little movement. I pushed the left joystick to the right and the drone spun on its axis ever so slowly, then to the left until I let go of the stick. There was very little movement except for the spinning on its axis. I then pushed the Takeoff/Land button and it settled back down onto the landing disc. It was a short flight but successful. WOW I was amazed, Thanks Holy Stone for building such a great drone. I did several more short drone flights to get familiar with the flight characteristics of this drone. I just want to say again that Holy Stone you nailed it on this HS720G drone and I would recommend this drone for any new beginner drone pilots.

I had to edit my original review here. While Holystone does have great customer service, the drone itself is erratic. I thought it was my fault that the first one was destroyed when it took off into my neighbor’s house and i was very pleased that they sent me a new one rigjt away. Well this one took off on me today and flew straight into the ocean. I was flying on land and i hit the take off button, it lifted off normally and once it touched the control it just flew sideways away from me the whole time I’m trying to gain control of it but it did not respond and flew right into the ocean. I’m going to take back what i said and tell you to save your money! Original review I am first timer drone user and was looking for a good entry level drone that is compact and that I could take on a vacation. The HS720G had really good reviews and the price was about as much as I was willing to spend on my first drone so I ordered it. A lot of the reviews kept saying how good the customer service is which proved to be true as I would find out. I don’t have anything to compare this drone to as I have never flown one before but I will say that it was fairly user friendly out of the box if you follow the instruction manual. I was also happy with the compactness and comes in a nice carrying case that will fit in my suitcase no problem. I couldn’t wait to try it out so I brought it to work with me the first day I had it and gave it a whirl on my lunch break. It was easier to fly than I expected but there is definitely a learning curve to flying these things. By the time the first battery was just about dead I felt a bit more confident flying it and was having a blast doing it! When I got home I decided to throw the second battery I purchased in and fly it again. I would definitely recommend buying a second battery because they do take about 5 hours for a full charge. So anyhow, I was flying it in my backyard having a good time and taking some really quality videos when all of a sudden I felt like i had no control over it. I was trying to land it with no luck and it flew into my neighbor’s house at a high rate of speed and sustained heavy damage. The gimball and camera were hanging out, severed wires and a broken arm. I was pretty bummed and called Holy Stone’s customer service line to see if there was anything they could do. A actual human answered the phone which is nice for once! I explained to them what had happened. They just asked me for my Amazon order # and send along some pics of the damage and they would get back to me within 24 hrs. The very next morning I received an email from them saying they were sending along a brand new one free of cost! I was thrilled! The reviews were spot on! They really do take their customer service very seriously! Three and a half days after I destroyed the drone I have a new one! Can’t beat that! I will not be flying this one anywhere near a residence or structure of any kind! That was my mistake, not being experienced enough and too eager to use it. If you are looking to get a drone I would highly recommend Holy stone!

I really like this unit. I’m just a novice looking to take videos and pictures from a different angle. I’m still learning how to use it but so far I really like it and enjoy it. After reviewing probably 50 different drones on Amazon and watching a bunch of YouTube videos I decided on this one. So far I’m glad I did. Update I took the drone to Richfield Utah on the the Paiute trail to get some videos. The quality of the video is impressive. The follow me function worked quite well. I did get into some issues when I couldn’t get it to come back to me. I think it might be my fault as I don’t think I set it up correctly for the flight. But in reviewing on line posts this has been a known problem. Luckily with a lot of finagling of the controls I was able to get it in an open area and got it landed within a reasonable distance. But then I couldn’t get it to turn off. I was able to grab it with only minor nicks to my fingers and remove the battery. I’m still a fan of the drone and the company. I won’t go into detail but their customer service and offers have been impressive.

I love how stable the image is and how it will follow me while I’m driving my old 4x4. I plan to take it off road and get some great shots from above. This thing flys itself. So user friendly and reliable. Wind doesn’t bother it. As long as you stay above any trees or power lines, you can forget it and let it do its thing. It can also hover in an area and you can forget about it. Really a great product all around! It’s good to get the 2 battery pack though so you can run one while the other is charging. You get around 20 minutes in high wind it seems. It’s extremely durable, don’t fly it in the house haha! It hit a table leg so hard, but the propellers never broke or damaged. Still works like new. It will also land itself with one button. It goes back to the take off point somewhere within about a 15ft area using gps. Worth every cent if you ask me.
