So good to avoid arguments.
It works yes itโs soft and you will probably need to replace them every few years. I waited 8 months to post this review after I installed them. They make doors much quieter. My wife gets up to go to the bathroom a lot during the night and refuses to use the door handle, so it makes a lot of noise. It always wakes me up. These have pretty much stopped that. After over 8 months they donโt really show any signs of wear but I ordered more in case they do. They are soft and flexible, so they will not last like brass does. But for the quiet - A+++++. And Iโll keep spending money on them. Great design. Great innovation.

Doesn't work, very flimsy plastic
Extremely cheap plastic slim strike plate It did absolutely nothing to lower the sound of the door closing, its too flimsy to do anything

Work amazingโฆBut be warned!
OK, these are amazing and they absolutely 100% do their job to make the doors quieter. Weโve bought two sets and we put them on all of our upstairs doors. However, I only gave it four stars because we did discover an unfortunate side effect last night. If you have a door that locks, for example, our bedroom door, and you have one of these on there, a child can still push hard enough on the locked door and it will snap open while locked. I will let all of you figure out when we may or may not have had the bedroom door locked, and when a child was still able to open itโฆ ๐ฌ

Disregard low reviews
Im sure most people do the same and read the lowest reviews prior to purchasing anything. I do judge people when I do and if someone can't formulate a coherent sentence, or can't spell, I disregard the review. These things work like magic. Yes they are a little bigger than the standard strike plate, but still work without modifications. I tried to make this fail to see what all the 1 star reviews were about. It worked great no matter how much I tried to screw it up. I did cut a bit of most strike plate recesses to make it sit flush, as I'm picky and I have wood chisels. Even if you've never touched a chisel it's easy enough, just grab one for $5 for when you install. Press in a straight line just under 1/8 inch and it will fit perfectly. I replaced all strike plates with these as my kids are door slammers. But they are also great if my wife or I is already sleeping when the other goes to bed. The only thing you hear is the door knob internals. Yes they are ugly, but who's looking anyway? And to be this quiet I really don't care how they look. Function over form. These are well worth the price. As for longevity, time will tell but even if they only last a month, I will keep a stockpile and constantly replace them. The only bad thing is now I have to go find new quieter door knobs as these are older and worn a bit so a little louder. Also I had planned on putting silicon pads in the door to help quiet even more, with this it has a bumper built in. So if you have a modicum of intelligence and can safely use a screwdriver without ending up in the ER, you can install these sleep and sanity savers.

With some fiddling, it works somewhat, but it's not the cure-all solution for all doors.
This installation was the passage door from the garage into the residential area of the house. That's a heavy solid core door with an automatic closure, to meet fire/carbon monoxide safety rules. I first installed one to replace the existing striker plate in the door casing. That did not work because the final lip on BrainExploder plate was too much forward. When the door hit it, it caused the door to bounce back and not close fully. So I cut that lip off the BrainExploder, which resolved that problem. But the silicone striker plate didn't really cause the door to seal against the door casing. It was too wimpy. So I chiseled the striker cut-out in the casing a little deeper, so that I could put the BrainExploder on top of the original striker plate. With this, the door does seal better against the door casing. The noise of closing is reduced, but only modestly. It is still noisy, but not as bad. And I wonder how long the silicone striker plate will last.

It's not bad
I wished the product was more rigid and not flexible, for the fear of it might rip off the frame. The noise cancellation was really good tho.

Despit the silly name, it works better than I could have expected!
We have a disabled kid that likes to slam doors at 5 in the morning to let us know he's awake and I've been losing my mind looking for something to soften the noise of the door latch hitting the strike plate. When I saw the BrainExploder Door Silencer I was super skeptical, but thought I'd try it. Super easy to install with no modifications needed on his door. Instantly there was a difference. The door feels weird to close, likley because the sound is different now compared to what we've been used to for so long. The strike plate is not metal, but a rubber-like material that makes the entire door shutting process quiet. I'm 100% happy with the BrainExploder and would recommend them to anyone.

As advertised...it's quiet
Bought this despite the few reviews and some not being great. I LOVE this thing. My door swings to freely and slams so easily it's disturbing. This thing has saved us from being startled multiple times per day. Even when it slams, it's so quiet. If you have this problem too, I highly recommend this. I use this on our laundry room door. I would NOT recommend this for an entry door. I think it's too weak for security.

If it fits your door, it works like magic
Product is magic. If your door installation matches the requirements, door operation is surprisingly silent.

Not working as expected
Even with heavy modifications it did not work at all. Also prevent locking the door. I wish I returned it instead of cutting it to try to make it fit.

Door now goes "boom" instead of "clank"
Im not sure it makes a difference, it doesn't justify the price. I still purchased two sets... just to show my tenants I cared.
