This One Works. Easy To Use Too!!
I bought this one after climbing the ladder from $12 Bluetooth phone device, then spent $10 more for cheap one with a screen (it went back), then $10 more for a better one that did not do the job (it went back too). Then a few bucks more and WOW this is worth it. This is the sweet spot. LED green, yellow and red readouts give immediate status of the car. I really really appreciate the immediate feedback I cannot misinterpret. Thanks. Under the LED readout, a large bright screen gives quick access the the details of the system diagnostics. Very, very happy that this unit connected with my Chyrsler Pacifica the others could not read and my Chevy Venture which this unit correctly and easily diagnosed. The other units gave me confusing readouts for my van that caused me to waste time and money. Not with this Nexpeak NX501. This unit was way bigger and way better than all my previous money and time wasting experiments. This is a large unit that feels solid, substantial and heavy duty. Comes with a very nice canvas zipper case that keeps the unit, connection cord and mini-USB (for connection to computer for updating and printout if desired). After connecting and installing software downloaded from Nexpeak website I confirmed that the unit I received was up to date. Nice. I am happy. This is not one of those little cheap little calculator size units, this one is maybe the size of an average womans shoe, but the construction, bright screeen, sophisticated electronics and ease of operation is GREAT! I used this before I even read the manual and had no trouble. To read the manual completely I will have to learn at least three or four more languages...but till I do...I am happy and getting all the results I need to confirm that my Pacifica is ready for its annual checkup and the Van needs some fixing. That's why I am keeping this one and happy I sent the cheaper units back. My advice is start with this one...I don't think ordinary people like me could need anything more.

Very Compact. Very good product. Learned to use in 2 minutes. Solved problem in 1 minute!!!
Very nice tool to have. When your check engine light comes on, it's nice to have a code reader in your toolbox instead of driving all over town to find an AutoZone or O'Reilly's to have them read the codes for you. One thing I did learn after buying this and using it myself. If you plug it in and the screen stays black, check your cigarette lighter fuse. Apparently that can cause the plug that the OBDII fits into not to have power. I almost sent this back, until I realized it wasn't the machine that was bad, but a cigarette lighter fuse burned out causing the OBDII not to come on. Anyway, the OM126P gives you all the codes that can cause problems with your vehicle and shows whether the part is already gone or it's pending. Still learning what all it can do and what each screen means. This also gives you diagnostics and graphs out feedback. Worth the money, especially on older model cars (with computers) like mine that have a check engine light pop up at least once or twice a year (it seems). OM126P will save me money in the long run, because I will be able to diagnose and repair my car without having to take it to a professional mechanic. With this you can find the codes, research what is causing them and if you're so inclined, fix the problem yourself. I really like that this reader gives a description of the code and not just the code itself. For anybody that likes fixing their own stuff, OM126P is a must have for your toolbox.

Fast and accurate OBD2 scanner
The device quickly is able to gather the data from your cars port. It appears to function faster than other scanner tools I have used. It lays out the information in a logical fashion and the extra buttons on its body allow for easier navigation through the various menus and options. In my use, it was able to gather the information for Japanese cars as well as a Swedish car. The display is also of very high quality (crisp and bright) making the presented information easier to read. I do like that the cord is able to come off of the scanner body and the carrying case is a nice touch as well. The cord is extra long making it easier to use while sitting in the driver or even passenger seat. The only minor complaint I have is that the OBD2 end of the plug (the one that plugs into your car port) is a little snug, but the contact it makes is obviously very good because it seems to not have issues with data gathering. All in all, I'd say it's a good device for the cost.

The NexPeak NX501 Scanner is easy to use and very well made
Easy to use Scanner After reviewing the OB2 Scanners, I decided on the NexPeak NX501 and I am not disappointed. I expect that I will only use the device on an occaision now and then. I consider myself a shade tree type mechanic that only works on vehicles when the mood hits me. I found that the scanner was well packaged and came with a very nice storage bag. I consider the unit well designed and the connectors are very well made. The device is a quality piece of equipment. I found the manual and the quick start instructions to be clear and easy to follow. After reading throught the manual, the next thing I did was log on to the NexPeak website and download the Windows App "UPLINLK" for the NX501 Model and then update the scanner software. The App checked the software and reported that the software was at the latest version. Before receiving my scanner, a local repair facility determined my wife's 2011 Ford Fusion SEL 3.0 had a P1450 code that was most likley caused by a faulty Canister Purge Valve Solenoid. The Garage estimated the charge would be $130 -150 but they did not clear the code. I decided this was a good opportunity to get another tool, so I ordered the scanner. After connecting the scanner, the scanner reported that I indeed had a P1450 code. I replaced the purge valve solenoid and then used the tool to clear the code and then monitor the emissions system to confirm that the repair was complete. Very cool little tool. I am pleased that I was able to save $40-50 AND Repair the car plus have a tool for future use. WIN-WIN! I would recommend this tool and would repurchase if I had it to over again. BTW, I did not need to use tech support, so I cannot offer any insite in that regard.

Useful advanced OBD2 scanner
Coming from using a basic OxGord OBD2 code reader, this thing is like a scanner with steroids. Both are capable of picking up and clear code, the NX501 can also check emission readiness (with live graph), O2 sensor, EVAP system, and perform the battery voltage test. The LCD is bright with color, and the UI is easy to nagivate. There is a help menu so in case if you lost the included booklet you can still access the user guide. The box came with a carrying case which you can fit the NX501, the OBD cable, USB cable, and the instruction booklet with room to spare. Last year, DMV required a smog test and a mandatory recall fix for my car. My dealership was only possible to fit in the appointment 1 weeks before the registration was due, because of the required component was in back order. When I got my car back, little do I know, that my ECM was reset so I had no emission data. With less than 1 week to go, it was pretty much impossible to complete all the vaguely instructed drive cycles. I aimed for the lost and pay my registration on the second due date, which bought me another month, by paying a little more. I wish I have the NX501 back then so that I could monitor if I was hitting all the drive cycle, that was my most recent possible use case. If you don't have an advanced OBD2 reader like this, it is always handy to have one around, either for the peace of mind when taking the car to the repair shop, when buying a car, or just for general maintenance purposes. FYI, to update the scanner or to print any diagnostic report, you need a Windows PC. I had no problem using a Mac under Bootcamp to update the firmware.

Easy to use
This is a plug and play device that works right out of the box. The manual has pretty good English, and the interface is mostly intuitive. The DTC lookup is really useful to diagnose the "check engine" light. Also, this has a function that sets it apart from the others of the same price, and that's the live data stream. Being able to see how your car reacts as it's running, when you hit the gas for instance, is unique to this price point. The manual doesn't explain the data stream though, so this will require a bit of research to understand what's being shown. One word of caution for anyone buying an OBD2 scanner though: make sure if you have an older or foreign car, particularly both, that it's protocols are read by this or any other scanner you buy. Just because you have an OBD2 port doesn't mean the scanner will read it. The early languages hadn't been made universal, so, for instance, it'll read my 2003 Honda, but not my 1997, both of which have OBD2 ports.

NEXPEAK NX501 - OBD2 Scan Tool *** EXCELLENT ***
Really, really like the NX501! Had a Check Engine indicator on my 2005 Tacoma, and the NX501 correctly diagnosed a bad Fuel Cap. Probably easily paid for NX501 by avoiding the service visit! Nice! I really like the unit size...it fits comfortably in my hand. The color display is bright, the user interface is intuitive, the Help Menu is fine, the code lookup is handy, and the quick and proper diagnosis was great. I also like the removable and long interface cable. The soft case has abundant storage space for the unit, cables, and manual...with a little extra room for additional items. Downloading and using the firmware update application on my Windows 10, via USB port, was uneventful, as it should be. The instructions in the manual are correct. Finally, the NX501 was arrived in a new, unopened box, and packaged securely with all items inside the soft case. Although I have not yet used all features of the NX501, I have no reason to think this tool will serve me well maintaining my 2005 Tacoma and other family vehicles. I would highly recommend this product.
