great headless mac mini 2012 solution
I can run my 2012 mac mini headless using screen sharing - and pick any resolution up to 4k. Without it I was limited to 1080p. I tried HDMI dummy dongles and they didn't work.

Works as intended
I use MSI VR Backpacks that require a dongle to be able to run most VR headsets. These work perfectly as the 2ndary plug is a mini display-port.

it did exactly what it was supposed to do.. now i can use teamviewer to access my computer even when the monitor's off.

They just... don't work
Have several MacPro(2013) systems here. Each has one 1920x1080 monitor connected. Tried plugging the different dongles in the package to different systems - nothing. No additional display in System Preferences, it's as if nothing was connected.
