GEDEO 766508 30 ml Gilding Wax, Renaissance Gold, 5.5 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm

Initially thought this was quite expensive but the jar is bigger than it looks and surprisingly you only need a tiny amount to transfer the colour to your projects. I used this to finish off a painted and distressed cabinet and it just glides on and gives smooth even coverage even applied with finger tips. After leaving it to cure overnight I buffed it with a cloth and was pretty amazed none came off. The metal cabinet handles are a slightly different story though. Firstly I am almost certain the handles are coated or lacquered and other than cleaning and de greasing I didn't prep them in any way. The wax was just as easy to apply but even after curing it is still easy to smudge or wipe off. As I wanted a distressed look it doesn't matter to me that the wax has worn away on touch points, but if you were after a more even colour change I would test before you rely on this product. You may need to strip or prime the item or possibly apply a polyurethane top coat for protection.

What a colour, renaissance fits it perfectly, it is beautiful need to buy the red one soon. It glides on and is durable and a little goes a long way, I did the trim on a large extended dining table and hardly used any, it has such an effective shimmer and looks so opulent perfect for your next French decoration project

I used only a small amount on my black wall and ceiling light fittings to give it a warmer look, it was easy to use and I liked that you can control the depth of colour. I am really pleased with the end result.

Absolutely love this wax ! When you first get the tub you think ‘ that’s not much’ but you are so, so very wrong ! You use so little each time and the top seals really well so it will last a long time You can use it either with a brush or with the tip of your finger and just a tiny bit goes a long way. It has the most beautiful rich Renaissance gold colour, particularly beautiful when used to highlight dark colours such as Annie Sloan Oxford Navy or Dixie Belle Caviar If you aren’t sure how much you want your item to sparkle, put on some clear wax beforehand and then you will be able to move the wax around a lot more and create a more subtle effect Really economical and good value for money

Really impressed with this, the first gilding wax I’ve used. The colour is deep and strong, quite Bronze, very much as it looks in the pictures. Super easy to apply and gives a really high quality appealing finish.

Applied this to mirror I had painted many times over the years. I applied black acrylic paint first and then the gold. I love it. Such a rich dark gold. Transformed my old mirror into something special!

I am stunned at how well this gilding wax works! I'd never tried it before. I bought the Renaissance Gold and the Silver - and I'm just blown away. First, I had been looking for an antique gold color for draw pulls and hardware, picture frames, etc., and I have tried virtually every gold spray paint available, and they all look cheap or don't truly have the deep rich color inherent in old gold, like this wax does. But this Pebeo stuff is awesome - the gold is EXACTLY the color of gold I've LONG searched for! And the silver color is quite good as well - quite close to antique silver - an extremely difficult color to replicate. Besides chrome, silver is perhaps the toughest color to mimic, but this one comes close. I just used it today and haven't polished the items yet, as I want to let them dry more. First, these gilding waxes use VERY little product to give good coverage - so while the jar it comes in is very small (only 30 ML - don't let the ad photo fool you), nonetheless, a little goes quite a long way! The sheen is slightly hand-rubbed looking and it easily levels to a nice, smooth finish. I used a small brush to cover a few drawer pulls, which worked quite well. They were hand dry in about 90 minutes, but not enough to rub too vigorously - I'll do that tomorrow. There is a bit of strong odor until they dry - but it doesn't linger. I can see so many uses for this - especially with other colors available. Plus, you can custom blend using two or more colors - haven't tried that yet.
