simplehuman ST3018 8" Round Wall Mount Sensor Makeup Mirror, 5X Magnification, Rechargeable and Cordless, Rose Gold Stainless Steel

I just received the wall mount version 2 days ago and installed it last night. So it's too early to tell about the reliability/durability of the sensor and the rechargeable battery system, there have been one or two negative comments about those. But, SO FAR, I really like it. I'm a guy and this is just what I've been looking for as a shaving mirror--the size is really nice, and the magnification is just right for that purpose. The light is adequate; the box describes it as "optimum" (which I presume is for ladies to apply make-up,which is what they show on the box); it is OK for shaving, although I would like it even better if it were brighter. Amazon's item description doesn't mention it but the magnification on the wall-mount mirror is 5X. Also, I'm surprised the description isn't a little more clear about the dimensions, only giving you the overall measurement for the whole thing including the arm and mount ("3.1 x 13.8 x 9.1 inches"); I can tell you the mirror surface itself is 8 inches across, inside the head which is 9 inches across--the light ring surrounding the mirror fills up the difference. So far I am not having any problem with the sensor turning the light on at the wrong time, nor with it turning itself off in a reasonable time. It comes on when my face is near the mirror. I mounted it within 2 feet of the bathroom door, and it is not coming on just because I walk near it when going in and out of the room. INSTALLATION: I mounted it at about shoulder-height up the wall, which is just right for me to tilt it up and look down into it while shaving. They give you everything you need for Installation in drywall, including the better drywall anchors which are threaded and you screw into the wall, rather than having to drill and hole and insert an anchor. Installation was straightforward, you can do it with a screwdriver but a power screwdriver or a drill with a phillips bit works faster/easier. It will be best if you follow directions and draw a level line about 5 inches across, lightly with a pencil--the mounting plate has indicator lines to ensure the unit will be fully level after installation.

I was a hesitant to get this because of some of the reviews and the cost, and who knows how well it will hold up. It does have a 5 year warranty so I feel pretty good about it. And my wife is happy with it, so that's worth a fair amount! :) Pros: - Rechargeable Battery so no need to wire it or have a cord coming from it. - 5x magnification which was important - we had tried a cheaper 10x to see how that worked and it was ridiculous unless you are doing surgery on your eye maybe. 5x is perfect for anything skin or makeup related. - Installation was easy - I had read reviews about screws not working and problems with the wall anchors - not sure what all that was about. User error maybe. Take your time, measure, test the mounting plate assembly before mounting it, figure out how it all goes together and it is fine. Also, there was one review where someone mentioned writing in the center of the mirror that could not be removed. This is incorrect. There is a protective film that covers the entire surface of the mirror that does have text on it in the center, but it all peels off. Install it before removing this to be safe. Features work well enough. The auto on / off sensor is working fine. The instructions for manual mode could be clearer, but the dark area at the bottom of the mirror acts as an on/off button more or less. The entire thing can be turned off completely with the button on the mount near the USB charging input. It looks nice and works well - would have been nice if it were double sided 1x/5x, but that's not a deal breaker for us.

This is my second mirror. The first one we bought created a traffic jam in the bathroom because everyone liked it so much. So, we had to get another for the second bathroom! It is very easy to install and you don't need an electrician. Your power supply just needs to be as near as an extension cord can reach. When the power wanes (you get a red light) you charge the mirror as you would any cell phone or Kindle. The magnification is great, the light is ample and the charge lasts long enough for us. I'll estimate that if you leave the mirror light on for long periods of time, you will get a week on the charge. If you use it twice a day for about 15 minutes, you will probably get two-three weeks per charge. The installation is very simple; we didn't use the enclosed mollies. You get a mounting bracket that we put on the closest stud. We drilled a hole with a slightly smaller drill bit than the screw size, then used the philips head screwdriver attachment on the drill to set the two screws. There is a leveling line on the bracket to be sure you have the bracket level. The entire mounting took about 20 minutes from using the Riobi stud-finder, to using the Riobi laser leveler, drawing the holes on the wall where the screws go, drilling the starter hole, then sinking the screws. The most delicate part was sinking the mirror mounting screws with the enclosed allen wrench. I highly recommend this product!

Both my mom and I have had this mirror for years and we still love it. It is high quality and makes doing my makeup so much easier than the regular bathroom mirror. I hate being away from it when I travel because I never know if regular bathroom lighting is going to make me look like I don’t know how to do my makeup. The mirror itself is clear and easy to clean when it gets dirty. Overall it is a must have for me and has moved with me a couple times!

Okay, fairly easy to install once you spend a few minutes with it. The product lacks detailed install instructions. The two "Allen Set Screws" on the bottom of the bracket ar a major pain as they are so close to the wall with average size male fingers. The little allen screwdriver was pretty worthless to me, although my Wife's fingers are much smaller and she was able to turn it. I had to pull an L-shaped allen wrench out of my toolkit. Here's the deal - DO NOT TIGHTEN THE ALLEN SCREWS TOO MUCH AS THE POWERE BUTTON WILL NOT WORK!! As soon as I loosened the allen screws up 3-4 turns, the mirror began taking a charge again and the powere button was able to be depressed. This should be explained in the installation instructions which again are minimal. This is day one and the mirror looks nice on the wall and my Wife liked using it, however we charged it a day or two before we installed it and the charge was gone after installing. I hope the rechargeable battery is good. Truthfully, I expected more from a premium product that was almost double the cost of some others. Time will tell.

This is a spendy mirror, but it was worth it. It's very nicely made, with a high quality mounting system that made it easy to install. Based on some of the previous reviews I was a little concerned about the rechargeable battery light functionality, so I charged the battery and tested everything before installing it. It did need to be charged and after the green light went from a slow flash to solid, the circular light around the mirror face worked just fine and has continued to work with absolutely no problem. It comes on as you get "into the zone" to use the mirror, and shuts off pretty promptly when you move away. The color of the light is really good in terms of being able to tell what your cosmetics actually look like on your face :-) This mirror is a 5X magnification, which is perfect not only for applying makeup, but for seeing (horrors!) all of those things that need tending to on your face. I don't see how anyone could want or even use a higher magnification. Another plus for the simplehuman mirror is that its design is clean and elegant, important for something that's attached to your wall in plain sight.

I am ammeding my review from 5 stars to 1 star. Why? The mirror will no longer charge. It has a 5-year warranty. I have written to the company several times to get help and they ignore all the messages. If a warranty is not honored, then it is fraud. This Simplehuman mirror is great. The instructions were indeed simple and it was easy to install. Just drill two holes, put it in place, and tighten the screws. It is a good sized mirror and the magnification is perfect for me. The lighting is also excellent. I thought I may need to add lights to my bathroom mirror, but no need now. Also, by adjusting the arm position/length and mirror angle I can easily see all areas of my face. For charging, you would ideally have an outlet near enough so that a USB cord can connect to the mirror. These cords come in many lengths, so shouldn't be a problem. But, you could also just take the mirror to a charging location as needed.

My wife is very pleased. Regarding the light, so many remarked that it was not bright enough. Neither of us find this to be the case. In fact, she often stands back so that it's not illuminated. She says sometimes it can be too bright. The hue is definitely different than that given off by the bath's incandescent lights. It does seem to be more like natural daylight. The automation works exactly as advertised. Put an object in proximity to the sensor at the six o'clock position and it comes on. Move away and, after a short delay, it goes off. Some reviews have mentioned a negative experiences with this. We have not had a problem at all. The overall construction seems solid. It is fairly heavy. I mounted it directly into the stud. I would not be comfortable mounting this into drywall alone. I debated on this rechargeable model or the hard wired version. I'm glad I chose this. I charged it on installation and it hasn't needed a charge since. Hard wired is more hassle and more permanent. If desired, it would be much easier to relocate the rechargeable model. My only critical observation would be that the telescoping arm requires more force to move in and out than I would like. This is purely subjective. It works just fine.

The mirror product itself is very good. However the installation was a nightmare. Very poor quality accompaniments with the unit. For the price, this should be an easy and solid installation process. For this reason, would not recommend or buy the product again.

A few things that may help others :- - Wall plugs. Comes with a couple of drywall plugs. I don't think these should be used on tiles (I used the screws that came with it though as they're not tapered so screw flat to the wall plate). - Charger. Comes with a charger that can plug into the shaver socket (I think that's what it's for anyway and seems to work just fine for recharging). - Colour. Mine came in "brushed" chrome not "shiny" chrome which seems to be what the product picture is showing. Not a big deal for me. - Installation. Didn't find this a problem with the right tools (e.g. tile drill bit).

J'avais acheté précédemment un miroir Beurer; il n'était pas cher (4 fois moins que celui-ci), mais était franchement pas terrible (cf mon commentaire sur ce site). J'ai donc acheté ce Simplehuman qui, malgré l'absence de commentaires des internautes, me donnait l'impression d'être autre chose. Et je ne suis pas déçu: il paraît costaud; il est beau, bien fini, suffisamment grand pour voir tout son visage lors du maquillage (dixit ma femme). Il éclaire bien ( rien à voir avec le Beurer !).Le bras articulé est agréable à utiliser. Le système de fixation au mur est très bien pensé, très solide. Il n'est pas nécessaire de faire des travaux d'électricité (batterie intégrée au socle, rechargeable grâce à un petit transformateur avec un cordon fournis avec l'appareil). Bref, un miroir cosmétique parfait qui mérite son prix élevé: 150€ sur Amazon, plus cher sur d'autres sites... ( mais une voiture haut de gamme n'a rien à voir avec une voiture low cost...comme ce simplhuman et le Beurer !!).
