It is simple, light, easy to use and carry. We bought it to help us scan in old letters from and to my grandmother and it works well. At family gatherings I could actively join conversations while scanning at the same time. I could use the cord to upload the hundreds of jpg files later. I had to do a few trials to understand how to make sure all margins were clear. No problems.I did not use the software provided yet as the jpg files were enough for what i needed.

I found that the scanner was pretty much plug and play, but I haven’t yet had a chance to use it extensively. Learning how to set the time and date took this old man some trial and error time understanding the directions and reading the very small screen. My first scan of a document went easily enough, and using the included cord, I could transfer the file to my computer without difficulty. So, at this point, I would easily recommend this nifty scanner to a friend.

The plug-in chip goes into the device - upside down.It works fine. When I stuck in a little pin-tip intothe hole - I think it pushed the internal switch out of alinement.But it still seems to work OK. No problems.It just takes a little practice to get the scans perfect.I think it is worth the investment.

Hard to get to function. Formatting and SD issues. Scanning is bad quality, leaves bright line at the start of scan and darkens the rest of the image. Jumps around the image if you don’t get the pace exactly right…. Extremely finicky would not recommend. You’re better off taking a picture on your phone.

Reviewing the good and gotchas of this device.The Good News:It works. It will scan. You can get good scanning quality.Scanning independent pages on a flat surface works best...and now all the gotchas:This device comes software. But! Despite having bought the device you have to buy a license to use the software. That’s not that good business. If I paid money, you include software, I get the software, then I get rights to a license. Otherwise, don’t include the software. The software allows you take all the scans and make one complete document.Book scanning? If it’s a small book you are going to have be creative as to acquire good scan quality. If it’s a big book with a lot of room on each page where the scanner can sweep over the page while remaining flat on the page, you will more often than not get quality results.The problem with smaller books: You open the book. The middle of the book (the fold) hinders the scanner. If the scanner is not flat on the page you will get poor scan quality. The middle book fold gets in the way of a flat placed scan. If you get a larger hard back book as a backing for the smaller book, you can place the left side of the smaller book and acquire a flat surface for a decent scan. The right side of the book, the scanner’s left margin won’t pick up the page content on the left side. You’ll have to get creative to figure something out without breaking the book binding on the smaller book.The device design: Overall it’s not bad. The size is built for convenience. But! There teeny-tiny buttons for setting the date and formatting the disk. To press these buttons, I had to fetch my watch tools, the itsy-bitsy screw driver, and use it to press the teeny-tiny button. That’s inconvenient.Things to be aware whilst making a buying decision.
