Tired of reading HTML books that only make sense after you're an expert? Then it's about time you picked up Head First HTML and really learned HTML. You want to learn HTML so you can finally create those web pages you've always wanted, so you can communicate more effectively with friends, family, fans, and fanatic customers. You also want to do it right so you can actually maintain and expand your web pages over time so they work in all browsers and mobile devices. Oh, and if you've never heard of CSS, that's okay--we won't tell anyone you're still partying like it's 1999--but if you're going to create web pages in the 21st century then you'll want to know and understand CSS. Learn the real secrets of creating web pages, and why everything your boss told you about HTML tables is probably wrong (and what to do instead). Most importantly, hold your own with your co-worker (and impress cocktail party guests) when he casually mentions how his HTML is now strict, and his CSS is in an external style sheet. With Head First HTML, you'll avoid the embarrassment of thinking web-safe colors still matter, and the foolishness of slipping a font tag into your pages. Best of all, you'll learn HTML and CSS in a way that won't put you to sleep. If you've read a Head First book, you know what to expect: a visually-rich format designed for the way your brain works. Using the latest research in neurobiology, cognitive science, and learning theory, this book will load HTML and CSS into your brain in a way that sticks. So what are you waiting for? Leave those other dusty books behind and come join us in Webville. Your tour is about to begin. Review: Best ever html and css book for beginners/intermediates - I am studying to pass an exam for web design. Everything about HTML & CSS in my study books I have found in Head First and maybe more. The difference is my level of understanding from my study materials of HTML &CSS and my level of understanding from Head First is so different, that I wish the authors of Head First were put in charge of all study materiel for my Web Design course. This book is really designed for you to really learn and understand HTML and CSS on a cellar level and uses different methods including humor to make sure the understanding sinks in and sinks in good. There are a few mistakes in the book, a cross word puzzle in Chapter 3 (I think) but having bought quite a few books about different computer languages, I have yet to buy one that doesn't have any mistakes, we are human and not computers : ) When I have finished with HTML & CSS I will be moving on to Head First's Java Script book and any others I need to broaden my knowledge of Web Design and Web Development. I just wish they also included Photoshop as a subject of one of their books too. Review: Great book, easy to follow - Brilliant book if you are starting or wanting to code with no prior experience. The book may be too rudimentary for anyone with even little previous experience. If you like to get hands on straight away in your learning this book encourages that which I found really helpful.

Great for beginners
I heard about this book from Andy Sterkowitz's YT channel as a recommendation for those wanting to become a web developer. I looked at the reviews and decided to have a go at it.... I am just about to finish it after 3 weeks and I can honestly say it is a fantastic piece. It is aimed at complete beginners which I consider myself (my only past experience is from high school from 20 years ago) and it really does explain basic concepts very well. There are even some supposedly fun elements for which you undoubtedly need a certain sense of humour and I enjoyed them. No, you wont be a fully employable web developer just after this book but it gives you a good foundation to build on as in concepts as in resources and teaching you the ability and importance of research. I would definitely recommend buying this book.

Good for learning the fundamentals, but a little outdated
This has all the basics for getting started in the world of HTML and CSS. As the book says, it’s not a masters guide, but it delivers the information in a fun and engaging way. Going back and building on previous projects let’s you see your development and how much a little extra CSS can do. There are some issues however, as the book is now a little outdated and some of the online content now does not work as it should (there isn’t a huge amount that you actually need to be online for though.)

Brilliant primer for html and css beginners
This is a first-rate instructional guide. It takes the reader through html and css in baby steps. I would advise anyone tackling this subject to have a basic web site set up on the web BEFORE starting this book, or a domain name and service provider at minimum. The only fault I could find with the book was that it was too short, leaving me gasping for more. Seriously, there are topics that this book doesn't reach, like scripting, programming, feedburning. These are topics which I'm sure are covered in other books in the series.

Cover to cover
This is the first book on any sort of computer language I've ever actually finished. In itself, that's reassuring. I feel I've got a grasp on the fundamentals & am ready to move on to more advanced stuff & related languages which can enhance my site (within 2 days of starting this book I'd registered a domain name & sorted out some web hosting). This is a great introductory book, no "dry" bits in it, plenty of pictures and "room" to allow you to either amble or race through it at your own pace.

Great to get started
Great to get started. Easy exercises, which re-enforce the learning. Not too great a depth, but makes it easier moving on to the next level.

Excellent exposition & amazing retention
One of the best 'how-to' guides I've ever encountered. Easy to understand and fun to read... in a way where everything just 'sticks' in your brain- Magic!

Interesting way to write a book on HTML/CSS & a new way to write a scientific book that seems to work.
Book arrived on time, in pristine condition, & as specified. As far as science books goes it is extremely an unusually written book & at 1st glance more resembles "Cindi Lauper's take on HTML"!!!!! The book has many goofy pictures & odd seeming "writings (you have to see it to believe it!)", but I think it does work overall. It seems to give many clear, concise, & readable explanations on the items I have skimmed in the book. Take my review more with skepticism as it is not an in depth review as I never got a chance to read it through & am only writing this review as it is so long ago I ordered it that I thought I should write something to make review relevant. If you want an "alternative method of writing a scientific textbook" then this is definitely one you should consider as it is written about as "groovy" as the book cover images. Well, now I am going underground as my good review of this book is breaking the Bushido code of scientific writings which is make the darn thing (I.E. book) as difficult to follow as possible & thus am running for my life as I will be hunted down by nutty professors & other scientific nerds for giving it a good review (only kidding of course)!

Awesome learning material
The format of any of the Head First series of books is outstanding. I love it but others may find it too humorous for learning material. We all learn differently and from time to time we need to learn in a different manner and these series of books do just that. Its playful BUT absolutely structured and informative with the right amount of exercises, quizzes and examples to practice with. One size doesn't fit all but this series fits me and I find myself looking at what else they teach that I would buy their book just to learn it in their fashion. Try it out - what has you got to loose !!

I've been searching for a good HTML and CSS since long time
I've been searching for a good HTML and CSS since long time. There are plenty available in the market and also on the internet and i went through most of them but though the subject looks simple and obvious, while implementing i used to feel like i'm not comfortable with the subject. When i almost decided that this particular subject is not my cup of tea, i found this great book. It taught me how to learn HTML & CSS. It excited me so much that i could not stop reading it till i complete it within few days (of course including the exercises given in the book). Get a copy of yours today and start reading it. You will know, what i told about the book here is very very less.
