Smooth installation and looks very professional.
Came bundled with my dashcam, and I installed it easily with no issues or surprises. It plugs into the Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) plug under the dash on the driver's side (mechanic can easily unplug temporarily to plug in their diagnostic code reader, so no interference there. The little box has an LED display that shows battery voltage and some other status info. There's double-sided tape on the back, so you can mount it where you can see it. I installed a wired dashcam in my car over 10 years ago. It was kind of a major project, because I had to research and buy [the equivalent of this component] separately. It ran my battery down so low that I had to replace my car battery twice in three or four months before I solved the configuration issue. With this it was simple to install (plugging into the OBD connector was SO much better than DIY), and the default configuration works fine.

Simple and convenient way to run constant power to your dash cam. It does not drain your battery.
Review of REDTIGER Dash Cam OBD Hardwire Kit Power Cable Type USB C Port,10FT 12V-24V to 5V,for Dash Camera, Low Voltage Protection This is the 3rd or 4th OBD hardwire kit that I have purchased from REDTIGER. This makes powering my dash camera much simpler than having a cord running down from the cam to the plug in. Also, these cameras have parking monitoring, and this allows me to utilize that function without having to hunt down fuses to plug into and places to attach ground wires. The cord hides easily tucked in behind the vehicle’s trim. I used this one in my 2016 F150, which for some reason does not work well with a hardwire kit that needs to be plugged into fuses. In the event that codes need to be read, this kit easily unplugs from the OBD port, and then is easily plugged back in. It does NOT run your battery down either. An adhesive strip is provided to secure the voltmeter portion of the kit to the underside of your dash or panel. The readout provides you with the voltage so that you know it’s functioning properly. I feel it is reasonably priced. REDTIGER stands by what they sell and has excellent customer service! On an added note, I do feel that the cord is lengthy enough, but it could use more length on the portion that goes to the camera and less on the portion going to the OBD port (in my truck anyway). The voltmeter in the cord would be more easily mounted in more places. As it is, it almost does not reach under the dash and out of the way in my pickup.

Easy to use vs tapping the fuse box, cord needs to be longer
It was so utterly simple to install. This works on hybrid cars, which many (most) power cords do not support. This cord worked, but it should be about 12” longer. I couldn't hide all the cord because it was too short. I installed a Vantrue dash cam in an NX300h. The installation was tidy, simple, and quick. I tried to use several cords that tapped into the fuse box. None of them worked in a hybrid car. One of the cords did have a warning that it wouldn't work on electric or hybrid cars. I spent way too much time working to debug the issue and I never figured out what was wrong. The positive tap was hot, and the ground was strong.

Parking mode
I hope this review helps others. I was on the verge of giving up with this version and getting the fuse hardwire set until I did this one thing. I reset the settings I created and formatted the card. I do not know if one or the other or both helped, but after doing that, I went to the setting and could do parking mode. This is evident by going to thw settings and being able to access it as well as there being a "P" at the top middle of the camera screen when returned to the camera. So if your camera is still saying you can't do parking mode, perform those steps. My specific issue was that parking mode would not actually engage. When your car is off, the camera should shortly (within a few mins, my car takes about 3 mins) have a ACC text box pop up then the screen should go black. While the screen is black, the blue and blinking red should be going still (see video). That is parking mode. This should only engage when the car is off. I noticed that when I open doors, cut on accessory mode, and my battery mode of my car, parking mode does not disengage. Meaning the screen stays black with the lights on. The screen comes back on only when I start my car. This is how it should be. I have a 2018 Ford Taurus btw which is a newer car. I also noticed that when loop is set to 1 minute it worked. Then I started my car, changed it to 5 mins, cut my car off and waited, it did not cut off. So I started my car and changed it back to 1 min loop, cut it off, and it worked. Then I did the same for 3 min loop and then back to 5 minute loop. Which all worked fine. So potentially you may not have to resest it all again. Just change it to 1 minute loop, give it a go then try to change the loop higher after that. I hope this helps because I was going to give up! 4 stars for the difficulty it caused me.

After 10-15 minutes of driving it would turn off my dash cam [Viofo a229 plus] in my car [CHR 2024 PHEV] The dash cam works fine on the cigarette Lighter connection so that rules out issues with the dash cam or SD card. The length of the cable from the USB C connection to the voltage box was 75 inches, and from there 37 inches to the OBD connector.

I bought this hardwire kit as a way to power my VIOFO dash cam and it works flawlessly. Installation was incredibly easy and the hardwire kit itself came with ample wire length so it covered all the distance I needed plus more if I ever decide to buy a larger car. Even better was how the kit itself shows the voltage of the car, it provides a great baseline on what the best option would be for when it should cutoff the power draw. This specific part of the kit came with a sticky pad so that you can mount it on a plastic trim if needed.
