Multipurpose Switch Magnet 660 LB Pull-Off Force | On/Off Magnet Switchable for Lifting, Welding Positioning, Automation, Metal Separation, Liquid Filtration

I've already done some initial tests - I was able to pick up my stump bucket for my tractor, which weighs 160 lbs. Couldn't pull the magnet off of it without turning it off. When I get some time, I will slap it on my 66" bucket and get a crane scale on it. The bucket weighs about 265 lbs., so if it can pull it I'll be impressed. I'm already fairly convinced it'll hold 200 lbs., so I'm a happy camper (works for my needs). $10 cheaper than the MagSwitch brand that is rated for only 150 lbs., so seems like a bargain. I'd say it's fairly easy to turn off based on other reviews, especially with the leverage-assist handle that comes with it. But from an unbiased POV, I'd say it's about average for these style of magnets - it's not without the expected resistance, but the resistance isn't hard to overcome. I like the "in-between" setting too, which will hold very light stuff. Turning it all the way off, it won't even pick up a paper clip. Update here - when using it on a really heavy piece of steel, it is much easier to turn on/off. I'll leave it to the reader to understand the physics, but to quote a famous philosopher: "Like [frikkin] magnets, how do they work?" Anyway, if it gets filings or spatter or whatever stuck to it while on, the magnet (while on) is strong enough to weakly-magnetize those things. So turning it off might not cause the debris to just fall off, but it will demagnetize over time and/or be very weak anyway. I'll post crane scale pics when I get the chance. And I got the chance! I picked up my 265 lb. tractor bucket (with 5 lbs. of tools in it, pics 1 & 2) by running 18 gauge fence wire through the small gap at the bottom of the magnet. Don't use the loop in the handle (pic 3), it's a trap! I inspected the handle after taking it off, and it appears to be pure plastic. Plastic that probably couldn't withstand the ~1600 PSI or whatever that it would take to lift 660lbs over a ~1 sq.cm. contact area. Fortunately (or good-designedly... doesn't roll off the tongue so well), removing the handle is as easy as popping off the retaining clip with some needle nose pliers and removing the pin that holds the handle on (that also probably wouldn't survive a 660 lbs. lift). Back to the wire - it probably wasn't the best method of picking things up with this, but it still exceeded the working load limit by 50 lbs. Very impressive! However, it did come off from the lateral motion in putting the bucket down (lower lip hit first and caused a slide backwards). So I wouldn't stand under it. I put another 70 lbs. in the bucket (for a 340 lbs. lift), and the magnet came off. While my expectations are exceeded, that's pretty far short of the advertised 660 lbs. 660lbs. is probably a perfectly-vertical lift on a static load. We're NOT gonna test that :) I'll add my gripes here: Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you the thread pitch/size of the threaded holes on the side. Though I just read the comments and saw that they're M6 screws. I may get some of those to tie into for another lift under better conditions... big maybe on that. But lifting a 270 lbs. dynamic load, again, is very impressive. I would trust it to hold 220 lbs. safely (and the ~100 lbs. max that I'll use it for), but I wouldn't go standing under it... wouldn't trust my life to it. And no I'm not Todd from Project Farm, but I love the channel and his homegrown memes.

Magnet is extremely weak. Takes very little to remove from clean steel test plate.

so i dont use this in a metal shop, this will be your unconventional review haha. i have tested it on 1/2" steel plate though in our yard and itll lift a pretty decent sized plate, i dont know the exact size of it but if i had to guess maybe 5 sq ft. anywho, im a commercial diver in the mississippi river and we rely on magnets in high current to keep us on our work station if theres nothing to clip/tie onto. now the current of the river kicks pretty good some days, and i dont know exactly how much weight i put on this magnet at times but i can tell you that with it put on a rusted and scaled up piece of 5/8" steel (probably closer to 1/4" and all the way down to 1/8" in some spots) ive been able to hold my body weight (roughly 160lbs) in up to 10mph currents, on this magnet mounted sideways (visualize mounting it above or to the side of your body with all the weight pulling this magnet to the side, which it is strongest when pulled directly up)

These affordable magnets (compared to MagSquare magnets) are great for fixturing and holding. They work well, but the handle can be a little problematic at times where they do not want to complete a full turn to fully engage the magnet. The two flat sides and two rounded sides aren't as versatile as MagSquare magnets, but for the price you can purchase several in order to get more flat sides and spend a little more time configuring your fixture. The rounded sides and the notchy mechanism are minor issues so it still gets four stars for the value and effectiveness.

It works pretty good but I dont think its nearly as strong as advertised. Can pull off of a sheet of metal easier than it should.

These are cool magnets. I bought them for work but will probably buy more for use in my workshop at home at some point. Be aware that if you are trying to stick these onto thin sheet metal, you won't get the full pulling strength. The thicker the metal is, the better they will hold.

Works as advertised, and like one of the other posts I bought these to avoid the $900 magswitches for my power feeder. The folks saying it only has 20lbs of holding: you need to PRESS and TWIST the handle to engage the magnet. It seems to have 3 settings: off, "weak hold" and ON full hold For the people saying the handle is hard to turn: you need to PRESS and TWIST

I'm a little underwhelmed - I place this on the steel Metro Water plate in my front yard and yes, I can lift the 17-20 pound plate but it takes next to no effort to detach it. I wouldn't carry the plate with this for fear of detaching. I tried it on my metal door, ok. Cast iron 1940's staircase, good but still using very little effort to remove. I mean were I to guess I'd imagine it's topping out at about 60 pounds that it can lift and yeah, I'm sure I've got impure iron that I'm trying it on but man it feels cheap in comparison to even my windshield washing neodymium magnets.

Fazit: Ein wirklich starker und zuverlässiger Magnet, der in keiner Werkstatt fehlen sollte. Für unterschiedlichste Anwendungen bestens geeignet und auch für das schnelle Aufsammeln von Kleinteilen ein echter Mehrwert! Absolute Kaufempfehlung.

Great mechanical switchable magnet. Exceptionally strong when switched on and completely inert when not. Has a good holding capacity. Used a few of them integrated into theatre sets where items have to fall off a wall on cue, and works perfectly for this purpose where budget or safety means an electromagnet isn't suitable for the same purpose.

Cet aimant ultra-puissant me permet de monter des dispositifs de mesure sur mon marbre en fonte avec la garantie que rien ne bougera, même avec un porte-à-faux très important. Afin de faciliter la mise en place du dispositif, il est possible de placer le commutateur ON/OFF en position intermédiaire pour obtenir une force d'adhésion médium. Des filetage M5 et M6 positionnés sur les différentes faces de l'aimant permettent de facilement y fixer les accessoires voulus. Attention, si l'aimant est tenu dans le vide ou positionné sur une surface en métal de faible épaisseur, il est très difficile voire impossible de faire tourner le commutateur et d'activer l'aimant. Contacté à ce propos, le fabricant m'a confirmé que c'était un comportement tout à fait normal de cet aimant et en aucun cas un défaut.

Non l'ho ancora provato concretamente ma mi sembra molto potente e molto ben fatto, molto bello!
