Honestly obsessed
This is the best e-reader, it surpassed my expectations by a mile. It’s SO fast. The screen refreshes so quickly and you’re able to set different refresh rates for different apps. So you can have less ghosting for some apps and higher refresh rates for others. The size is perfect. It’s so light and easy to hold. Which makes it easier to read. Having the whole App Store available is great. I put a bunch of reading apps but also Spotify and Gmail and notion. Super useful.

I love it
What I love is that I can take it with me everywhere I go and it fits in almost every bag. It's an e-reader and has the option to have a backlight. That light can be blue or it can switch to yellow contrast so your eyes don't hurt as much with the blue light. My palma did not stop working after the return date I've had it for about 3-4 months now and it still works. When charging make sure the device doesn't get to hot, reading the reviews helped me understand that that might be one of the issues of why the screen sometimes has issues. I use a fast charging port and take it off the charger as soon as it's on 100%. Overall I love it. Later in life I would have to switch to something bigger but for now 10 out of 10

Love it, works with Android apps!
I absolutely love my BOOX Palma. It’s super lightweight and easy to carry around — like a mini phone-sized eReader. What makes it amazing is that it runs Android, so I can download all my favorite reading apps, including Tomato Novel! The screen is super easy on the eyes, and the performance is smooth for an e-ink device. If you’re looking for a pocket-sized reader that’s also flexible like a phone, this is perfect.

Really Good - And a Bit Disappointing
I really like this product and struggled with giving it either 4 or 5 stars - it's very good and I expect I will be using it quite a bit. Overall: If you want a small format e-reader that can work across virtually any document type or e-reader service, this is a great device. That's what it's intended for and, in that arena, it does a great job. As a bonus, you get the full Android operating system and ability to run any of those apps (though many will not work well on a monochromatic screen like this). I was hoping for a good note-taking experience, but it does not provide that. What's good: This product is, essentially, an e-reader. Like a Kindle or other black and white screen device. For that capacity, alone, it is very good. I can read my books every bit as clearly as I can on a phone, tablet or my Kindle e-reader. What makes it a bit better is that it comes with a full Android operating system so you can add any other apps you want. If you need to read on different e-readers, no problem. If you want to read work document by loading something like Word, PowerPoint, etc - also no problem. The form factor is also very nice (assuming you want a smaller e-reader). It's a bit smaller than my mobile phone, much lighter, and easier on the eye for reading. What's okay: Although this device, in my opinion, is meant more for consuming textual information than anything else, you can do more. Surfing the web, watching video content and listening to audio content are all possible. I expect that watching videos, however, is a pretty poor experience (stick with your phone or tablet for that). You could also load and play games but, again, a color display is going to be a better experience. A more realistic scenario may be just responding to emails or creating quick bits of text when needed. What's bad: The only thing I was hoping for was that it would do at least reasonably well that it doesn't really do well at all, is allow me take handwritten notes. I can download popular note-taking apps (I use OneNote) without a problem. But the screen is intended for touch input and, so far, the only stylus I've found that works with it is the rubber-tipped ones that aren't really good for taking notes. The manufacturer didn't mention note taking, thus my conundrum of 4 vs 5 stars. It seems like, however, that a slight update to this device would make it massively helpful for quickly scratching notes into it whenever / wherever you need.

PERFECT Internet Detox & reader
Bought this almost on a lark but wanted to see what the hype was about for this little Boox Palma. I read a lot and wanted something that did not require me to carry my book bag with me everywhere I go. Turns out this think is perfect as a internet detox machine. Turn bluetooth on and leave the network OFF. The obvious: It's a perfectly phone sized little reader with a straightforward interface and skips the stylus details from other boox products. No note taking unless you want to type (which is fine). The not obvious: It's a REALLY good little music player Loaded my FLAC files (and audiobooks) onto it, installed my favorite media app (MediaMonkey) and away and running. Couple of non-obvious differences on e-ink as I had to manually kick off the scanning on it for playlists and folders. Is it going to compete with "audiophile" equipment? No. Is it just as good as an S23 ultra phone? YES. So books and audio files are great on it. Do I want it as a phone? Heck no. Your use case may vary slightly...

Don’t buy this.
I would not really recommend this item. It’s a decent ereader device and it runs on android so it lets you use a multitude of apps. But it’s just as slow and clunky as any other ereader. I thought this would be smoother than my kindle but it’s not. It’s very overpriced for what it is. Everyone hypes it up but after using it I’d say you’re better off buying a cheaper ereader it’ll work the same. Also be wary of buying this with affirm. I’ve had it for hardly any time at all and if I return it I’m out an undetermined amount of money but atleast 60 dollars bc of using affirm to get it I won’t just get a refund of the deposit and have the loan cancelled despite the fact that they haven’t even finalized the loan yet. This ereader is far too pricey to behave like any other ereader and not be able to refund it without being out a chunk of change. Really disappointed because I got this for myself for my birthday. Now I’m stuck with it or out money returning it which doesn’t feel fair after only having it 2 days. Don’t buy this, especially if you can’t pay for it outright. Just stick to the kindle it’s way more affordable and they work the same as this.

It’s pretty much just alright.
I like the device, buuuut it’s not worth the price imo. My biggest problem is the fact it’s not completely compatible with every app and such. Can’t download photos from certain apps and you have to go on the browser to get around it. It freezes pretty often and it doesn’t want to restart. Also, it’s so small for a eReader, I guess that’s the appeal for some but I don’t fully understand that appeal myself. I’ll be returning it, but if any of those things aren’t deal breakers than it’s a great device for you!

Pros: The boox palma eReader boasts an exceptional form factor, striking the perfect balance between compactness and readability. Despite its small size, the device offers an immersive reading experience that rivals larger eReaders on the market. One of its standout features is the integration of all major reading apps, including Kobo, Kindle, Hoopla, and Libby, into a single e-ink device. This convenience allows users to access a vast library of eBooks from different platforms without needing multiple devices. Additionally, the eReader supports the installation of various apps, but it's advisable to refrain from installing social media apps to maintain focus on reading. This emphasis on concentration enhances the reading experience and promotes a distraction-free environment. Cons: However, the main drawback of this device is its price, which may be considered expensive compared to other eReaders with similar features. Despite its impressive capabilities, the higher cost might deter some potential buyers from investing in this device.

A Unique e-Ink Android Device: Perfect Companion, Not a True Phone Replacement
The Boox Palma truly impresses with its great form factor, making it incredibly comfortable to hold and use. The reading experience is nothing short of amazing, leveraging e-ink technology for unparalleled eye comfort. What genuinely surprised me was how highly usable it is as an Android device; the screen updates at an incredibly fast speed for an e-ink display, making it surprisingly viable even for casual video watching (though, naturally, it's not truly recommended for that purpose). The battery life is incredible, lasting for ages on a single charge, around 4 or 5 days in my case with light usage. I also really loved the back texture, which adds a nice tactile feel despite the build. It uses a custom Android OS designed for high usability with large icons tailor made for its e-ink display, so very well thought out User Experience. Now for the caveats. A significant drawback is the lack of a SIM card slot, meaning it's only usable with WiFi. While this can be overcome with a mobile hotspot, it's a definite disappointment for anyone hoping to use it as a primary phone replacement; it's more accurately described as a phone companion. The build, while not terrible, does feel a bit cheap and plasticy. Lastly, a design note: I would recommend the black over the white model, as the light bleed is noticeably visible through the white bezels of the lighter version, which can detract from the experience. It's a great value for someone who is looking for a highly usable e-reader, though being able to use it with a data connection without needing to bring my primary phone would have been ideal. Overall, if you understand its limitations and want an exceptional e-ink reader with versatile Android capabilities in a pocketable form, the Boox Palma is an excellent choice.

Easy to read
Easy to read with E ink. I store movies on it to watch on flight. E-Books and medium app work as well. Night time news reading is not a strain Only thing I dislike is the absence of a 4g slot. Internet connectivity on the go would have made this a perfect reader

This is my best friend now!
Pocketable, super white and crisp screen, almost doesn’t need the frontlight. This phone sized eink tablet is the best thing that I have bought so far, I use it almost as a phone replacement to reduce my screen time and my eye strain, I’m typing this review on it, it’s very responsive, fast (as far as eink can be) and reading in here is absolutely amazing. Since it’s android you can use any app available in Google Play Store (even though not all apps are optimized to eink or even to B&W).

Nice option
Very light, very easy to use. Looks like a smartphone, that only has black and white images. For reading is really useful, the screen can be used almost in the dark with no light at all, and the device still won't hurt your eyes
