This is a great mower!
I never expected to write a 5 star review for this mower, but alas here it is! My old Toro gas mower died 2 weeks ago and I ordered this 80v Greenworks model because it appeared to have more power than the (2) 40v. to go up hills, and yes indeed it does! It came overnight, so I was able to finish the mowing from the day before. Setup was a breeze with only a few parts to assemble, it was ready to go in about 20 minutes. The self propel on full power (yes, it's adjustable if you want to go slower or on flat land) worked just as good as my old Toro, you can see the steep backyard in the photo. I am also very pleased with the battery time. For my yard, it takes about 20 minutes to do and it used just 1/4 of the battery. So I used it a second time without charging it and it used another 1/4 battery. For those who mentioned that you have to pause if you want to walk backward with it, you're correct but I think I've figured out that if you simply lift the back wheels a tiny bit, it disengages the self-propel more immediately to go back without any tension. I like that the unit is a pretty heavy steel, I was afraid it would be more flimsy but it's very sturdy. The blade cut perfectly too, a nice even cut after a simple adjustment that raises or lowers all the wheels easily. This is a perfect fit for me, I can only hope it lasts 15 years like my old Toro.

Quiet, easy to use and reliable
This is my third Greenworks lawnmower, and they just keep getting better. I should probably mention that I replaced the first two for technological improvements, and not because they failed to work. This mower has a self-propel feature that is much more attractive to me now that I am older, but it has the same intuitive operation as my previous mowers. It is simple to understand, simple to operate, and a lot quieter than a gas mower. That means I can use this mower early in the morning or later in the evening without having to worry about complaints from the neighbors. In fact, my neighbors tell me they can't hear the mower at all, even when I am using it just a few feet from their windows. That's a huge plus when your neighbors' houses are very close to your property line. And not having to deal with gas cans and motor oil is a big plus, too. I mentioned the self-propel feature - I disengage that when I am approaching a flower bed or fencing, just to make sure the mower doesn't get away from me. I'm not really sure that's necessary, but it does give me a little peace of mind, and the ability to switch back and forth between self-propel and manual in an instant is another really nice feature. Because this is an electric mower, it's not only quiet, but it starts instantly, too. No more pulling cords and hoping the engine will catch. The batteries recharge quickly, and they hold a charge well - I charged my batteries at the end of last summer, stored them in an unheated outdoor cabinet all winter, and 6 months later they were all still fully charged and ready to go. I have a large yard, so I keep at least 3 batteries - I use one, put it on the charger, use a second, and by the time that one needs to be replaced, the first one is fully charged. It's not necessary to keep multiple batteries, but it saves me enough time to make it worth the investment. As for the value, this mower costs about twice as much as an entry-level gas mower, but it is well worth the price. It's more reliable, more environmentally friendly, easier to use and it never runs out of gas. I am Team Greenworks for live.

Only adequate in mulch setting, but a good mower at a competitive price.
Easy to use and gets the job done on my slightly larger than average neighborhood lot (St. Augustine grass). Turbo kicks in whenever needed for thicker grass. Easy to adjust height, in fact very easy. Not too heavy so I do not have to use the self propelled functionality, it just makes it easier after turns near the fence to let the machine do the work for the first few steps. Good price compared to competitors. The only complaints and why this gets four rather than five stars is you need to make sure to quick the self propelled function a step or two before the end of a run as otherwise the back wheels lock when you try to turn. You get used to it, and it isn't a big deal if you forget, but it is a little wonky. More of an issue is the mulch quality which is only adequate. The mulch could and should be improved a little and it would be better. It is adequate at mulching, but nothing more. That said, I am happy with the purchase and would not feel bad recommending this as it is overall a good machine at a very competitive price. Secondary market batteries are available at a much better price than OEM, and the one I purchased works like a charm.

Handy and worry free mower
Great mower, like slow speed. I do not have to chase this mower, at 79, it moves slow enough for my bad legs to keep up with. Light weight and easy to push or pull if have to. My gas mower is twice as heavy, this is well built and cuts good, like not having gas and to buy oil for a mower. Handle folds over easy and can store on rear wheels not worry oil getting into piston cylinder and clog up starting engine. Charges fast. Easy to clean and store.

Great, powerful mower.
Bought the 80 v with 4ah battery, self propelled. Super easy to start out of the box, no assembly. Folding handle is a nice feature for storing and especially cleaning. I have a half acre of mixed weeds, mostly grass, some mustard etc. unfortunately I let it get out of control this year, knee high in areas, my riding mower stopped working last year and I dragged my feet choosing this mower. Soooo. It performed great. Lots of power. Stalled twice due to thick grass but so does my riding mower. I developed a technique of tilting back at 45 degrees for high grass then went over it forward and back. Most areas over 8 inches needed mowing back and forth, moving along at six feet at a time, didn't use the self propelled feature at all. The mower is very light. Under six inches no problem at all. The battery lasted about 30 minutes, charged in under an hour . Because of high thick weeds I had to do this five times for my half acre even without using self propel which I presume saved battery life but if mowing grass under six inches (next time!) I expect it would do most of the half acre on a charge. I'm 68 And retired so I didn't mind waiting for the battery to recharge. Definitely recommend. Consider an extra battery.

Really like this product
Moving to texas, it's hot as 'heck' here in the summer. I paid others to mow my lawn because I'm fat and lazy, plus I seem to have problems with my gas lawnmower. 45.00 per week and dead spots in my lawn that I swear are being caused by oil, gas or both leaking off these mowers. I did my research and found these and Ego mowers have a lot of power these days, no oil and gas, self-driving and very light. I am only sorry it took so long for me to find this. I'm on half an acre and a single charge works for me. Battery charges within 30 minutes and i've had no issues with its use, my grass is coming back and while I'm still lazy, I'm not as fat. Recommend a second battery just in case and if you find this someplace like CostCo, pay attention to the battery life 4.0Ah should be minimum spec. You can find other batteries compatible with this mower that are even higher Ah values. Higher the Ah, longer the mower will run on that cell.

Fantastic mower for FTHB! ๐
I am a FTHB and moved into my new house in June 2025. When I was growing up I have vivid memories of my dad and I fighting out gas lawn mower. "Did we prime it" "Is the starter out" etc. This electric green works is absolutely amazing plus its at a good price point. I love that you can either side discharge bag or mulch your clipings. I also like the height. I have a St. Augustine lawn and love mowing it tall to show of those fat juicy blades! I also like when adjusting the height there's just 1 hamdle that controls all 4 wheel heights. The mower can go super fast practically a run but I typically run it at its slowest setting. The battery charges pretty quickly and last for both front and backyard mods. Would recommend to anyone in the market. I truly think this mower beats out the bigger more well established companies!

Manufacturer unwilling to expedite parts that are broken on a brand new mower
I preface this review by stating I own 3 other tools from Greenworks: 1) blower, 2) line trimmer, and 3) edger. The difference between my existing tools and this mower are my existing tools are all 60v. I think these other tools are easy to use and dependable. For the review on the mower, this is the 80v Greenworks 21" brushless self-propelled lawn mower. It has the LED headlight. I ordered it on 8/31/2024 right after my gas power Toro died. The shipping took a while, but I received it on 9/9/2024. I didn't get to open the package until later that evening. Since I knew the battery would need to be charged, I only got out the battery and charger. This is when the issue arose. I plugged in the charger and inserted the battery into the charger. With the newer chargers, a fan has been added, which I assume is to help keep the battery and charger cool while charging. My old 60v chargers do not have the fan. The fan ran for a few seconds and the green light start flashing indicating it was charging. So far, so good. After about 5 seconds the fan stopped on the charger and the green blinking light stopped. I waited another 5 seconds and the dreaded red flashing light came on. I knew from other Greenworks batteries and chargers this is not good. On my 60v chargers, the red light means the battery cannot be charged because of some issue. This is normally that the battery is too hot. Waiting 30 minutes with the battery out of the charger usually does the trick. After that, I can resume charging the battery. Since the 80v was brand new, I immediately became concerned. I tried removing the battery, waiting, and trying again. No luck. I tried using different outlets in my house. No luck. I even waited over night and tried everything all over again. No luck. I assumed the battery or charger were DOA. FYI the 80v batteries do not fit in the 60v chargers. Therefore, there was no way to check if it was the charger. I called Amazon who said I could send the entire package back or contact the manufacturer directly. I really wanted this to work so I opted to call Greenworks. The agent Tyler did what I expected and asked me to try everything all over again. I patiently went through all his steps which produced the same results. He then had me try the battery in the mower. As I stated above, I had not even un-packaged the mower yet because I was first trying to get the battery charged (It did have 1 bar out of 4). I asked him to hold while I un-packaged everything. Eventually, after about 5 minutes of wrestling with packaging material, I got the battery into the mower and started it. It worked fine. At this point, he asks me for the serial and model numbers for the battery, charger, and mower. I gave all those to him and he asked me to wait. After a few minutes he comes back on says since I only have 1 battery, we don't know if it is the battery or charger. Therefore, they will start by sending me a new charger. I agree but am not liking this solution because they could just as easily send me a new charger and battery and make this right. However, Greenworks apparently doesn't value their customers this way. Since I don't really have another choice except sending back the mower. I agree with his proposal. At this point, I am thinking they can overnight this to me and still make me happy. Tyler then explains to me he will get the request processed today and I should receive the replacement charger in 10 - 13 days! I asked him to repeat the number of days. He repeated the 10 - 13 days but added "it would probably be less." I reminded him that I have already been waiting for this to arrive and now I will potentially be delayed another 13 days. He was not moved at all. I asked him if he could expedite the shipping since this is brand new product and clearly a manufacturer issue. He said he would check. I waited. He comes back and seemed to have forgot my request for expediting the shipment. He restates it will be the original 10 - 13 days. I ask kindly if he can possibly find a way to expedite the shipping since this is brand new and has at least one or more faulty parts. He starts checking something again and says he will check on it and see if there is a way to expedite the shipping. Of course, he follows that up with saying he wasn't guaranteeing anything and said he would do that later sometime after we hang up. I then asked what if the charger doesn't fix the issue? He says that I then need to call back. They would then ship me out a new battery. I said that sounded bad since I would then be waiting another 10 - 13 days. He again said he would try to expedite the charger. However, it felt like he was just saying that to get me to hang up. He also added again there were no guarantees on the expedited shipping. I thanked Tyler for his help and hung up. Now, I am waiting for who knows how long to receive a charger that might not fix my issue. There is a 50/50 chance it is the battery. If so, then I will be waiting about an entire month just to get this mower working. For now, I am not happy at spending over $400 on something that cannot be used. I will have to get a friend's lawn service to mow our yard since I can't wait another 10 days so there's another $50. I rate this product at 1 star due to their customer service not wanting to help me get the issue fixed sooner rather than 2 - 3 weeks. I am thinking if it is the battery, I will just return the entire mower. They will then have to pay even more for shipping.
